
Well Light's an idiot, that's for sure. Not exactly sure why it took me three times of experiencing the story to realise that. Who in their right mind - well tbh he wasn't in his right mind... - would declare their victory before they've actually won. Him and his stupid pride.
As for the manga itself I felt it was kind of a drag to read, the reason it took me like weeks to finish.. I'm not sure whether it's just characteristic of manga of that period, but the panels were so uninteresting and conventional I guess. I expected more impact, instead it was consistently bland. In a way the anime is like the "American version" of TV shows, way too dramatic and all that, and then there's the "British version" that's super laid-back etc. I usually prefer the latter, but in this case it was a mix of both I'd say, but more the "American version".
The way L's death was built up in the anime was nice, though the added scenes didn't really make much sense. In the manga it was way too sudden, but from the standpoint of the Death Note it made more sense. Same with the ending..
Yeah, it's a 6/10 from me, will lower the anime to 7/10 as well.
