This show plot seems kinda quirky and the art looks super cute too. Worth the watch? I'm mainly looking for a more unique show. If it falls into a common plot template I'm not really game.
Since I've read the manga and loved every little bit of it, I can't really give you an objective answer.
To me, it's unique, especially when it comes to art and colors.
It's a story about friendship and regrets, it's funny to the point you forget it's by the same author who wrote something so twisted and dark like this
Itoshi no Living Dead
The only downside is that the animation isn't as smooth as one would like in some specific scenes, but it fit perfectly with the contest so I didn't really mind that at all i need to keep it vague, sorry lol
In short and without spoiling anything, it's one hell of a ride that may feel like Noragami or whatever slice of life/romance filled with Supernatural or youkai, but somehow is completely new and fresh.
Go ahead and watch it!
Also, if you can read the manga, it's totally worth it
I watched the show for its art - it's really easy on the eyes and it contrasts beautifully with the plot's darker themes. However, art's also the only thing I liked about the show. The main heroine is completely useless (she spends the entirety of the 12 episodes running around fawning over boys or getting into trouble and waiting for someone, usually Hanako, to rescue her), the redhead is mostly reduced to comedic relief and Hanako, easily the most interesting figure, isn't explored nearly as much as he ought to (can be potentially fixed with a 2nd season). I also wasn't a fan of the comedy - the jokes weren't all that funny and they had an uncanny tendency to appear out of nowhere and disrupt more serious scenes. All in all, I'd say the show's endearing for its art but otherwise fairly average.
All plots are common plot templates at their core, but considering, yes it is unique. The animation as a sum kind of sucks though. Mostly still images and shade cell stuff like a visual novel. Excellent voice acting, but the show is more cute as a whole than anything. I think Hanako is worth watching but Dorohedoro is your unique anime from winter 2020.
