Shigatsu spoiler Thanks for spoiling Shigatsu. I've been waiting with last two episodes for the right moment to watch them and now I open some random thread on this forum and see what? Kaori's face with "recommend me anime where someone dies".
Guyes, this thread will be full of such spoilers. Please take it down.

What the fuck you retard, you spoiled the same thing yourself. You could have just said "don't read the OP" or something.
I had an image in my mind of you being an intelligent person, it's lost now.
You realize that, now that OP has removed said spoiler but you continue to include it, I believe you've lost the right to call someone unintelligent for calling you out for spoilers.
Also, if you've gotten through all but two episodes and you haven't realized that it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Kaori dies, you're pretty dense yourself.
everyone's gonna say clannad afterstory so heres some other options from someone who doesn't know what they're talking about (these mostly wont be slice of life shows, just stuff that can be pretty heavy):

Sad.. hmm, real quick recommendations:
White Album 2 is depressing as fuck.
Clannad Afterstory is a sad story about a family.
Nagi No Asukara brings the drama.
Katanagatari is bittersweet :(
White Album 2 is depressing as fuck.
It was more like heartbroken feeling, it felt so painful i will never lay my eye on it again
I fucking cried for around 30 minute straight after WA2 ended, and I'm a grown ass man.
Still waiting for a S2, god dammit Satelight.
I cried for Kazusa Touma and heartbroken at the same time double the pain
@spectro889 getting s2 will be great but i will never lay my eye on it because just by thinking about it i feel it going be painful
Yeah. Episode 13 spoiler: Why did she have to leave at the end? I was extremely happy when she and Haruki got together... but then she left.
From what I've read in forums, WA2 adapted the Introductory Chapter from the VN. We still have the Closing Chapter and Coda (some special route in the VN) to go. Hopefully they'll get adapted. (Note: I've never read the VN)

Well there are many popular animes who are sad and moving so first the popular ones:
Im sure many people named the animes above before me so I seperated them from the less popular ones:
I strongly recommend Grave of the Fireflies.
The thread "Looking For Sad Anime" and its comments have been merged into this thread.
You can view the merged thread's body below:
I'm in the mood to ask for suggestions for sad anime. I don't mind whatever genre, just looking for anything sad you can give me. I'd much appreciate it if you could include a reason as to why you enjoyed that anime, and maybe why I should watch it, but you don't have to, of course.
(I'm not going to watch any of the recommendations immediately, so even if you see this thread a few months after posting, feel free to continue recommending, I guess)
Thanks! :)
Death Parade has plenty of sadness, especially near the end. Its visuals and themes really made Yuzuru Tachikawa one to watch, too.
Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu has sadness because you know from ep 1 that some characters will die (I'm not going to spoil which ones). It ponders some pretty big life questions and demonstrates that even if the content (of the rakugo stories, that is) is old, a show can make anything fresh and invigorating if it is truly timeless.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the information! :)
Of course, clannad is one of the popular ones.
Personally if you're looking for more hidden classics:
