Actually a lot better than what we have been getting. Really liked the lead singer character in terms of general ascetic and character design. When she was giving her backstory, it reminded me of all the one episode characters in Angel Beats, so I was glad to see something like that again. Also, I enjoyed the progression of the main relationship. Favorite episode so far (Except the first part.)
i like how yuu and nao dont necessarily do anything particularly nice for each other, but they do really thoughtful things for their siblings or do nice things because of something to do with their siblings, which actually shows a lot about each individual's character. Yuu may have seemed like a selfish dick at first, but deep down he was a really caring guy who really cared about his sister and nao seems like a deadpan spiteful sarcastic shutout sometimes, but deep down actually really cares about her brother even though she may be too insecure to talk to anyone about it. Im hoping since nao has changed yuu that yuu eventually helps nao break out of her shell and start to allow her pent up emotions and stresses come out because im pretty sure theres a lot more depth to nao than she lets us see.
edit
nao totally bought 2 tickets on purpose and knew yuu would be the one to go
It has been confirmed in this episode, Yuu and Nao's ship has been finally made official! honestly this was such a beautiful episode, and I think it was made this way to purposely confuse everyone about what's really happening in the anime.
We still have the theories about time travel and all of that from before which are still out there with force, Sala is a major character that perhaps holds the key or perhaps at least the major clue about what's happening in the anime, I'm pretty sure that she lost her eyesight by misusing her powers when she was young and perhaps her powers were such a big deal that she saw them as a sin.
With 5 episodes remaining I think we have plenty of time to learn about what's exactly happening in the anime, if you guys listen closely to the song Sala's sang to Nao's brother the lyrics are pretty much echoing to what happened to Yuu's sister and the yearning of seeing her again "From a steel tower, I fall down and I saw deep red." literally hinting the incident at the school.
I'm pretty sure something big will happen at the concert, and that something will be the major event that will turn this anime upside down and finally will prove that the theories we have are right or wrong.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but... I do think that Nao was with them all the time at the hospital, let's think about it, she can be invisible to one person (in this case Yuu) and Sala is blind. Sure Sala can feel other people around her but perhaps she didn't said anything out of respect, there's no way that Nao reached the hospital that fast and even Yuu said "We must had missed out each other" so I'm pretty sure they're gonna show it in a future episode.
your probably right about nao being there all along, and witnessing Yuu cry over the fact that Nao's brother calmed down and recognized Nao's name was probably pretty touching to Nao.
Now about the time travel............ ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh im gonna go out and say thats a pretty massive stretch. I'd say someone with the ability of foresight is a lot more conceivable than actual time travel.
The Engrish was real in this episode. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the episode as a whole as Yuu's daily routine has been restored and the pace of story kind of went into the pre-episode 5 spiral once again. I wonder what will happen next ep and how the gig will play out. The saddest part is... doing a waiting game every single week.
Guess I'm one of rare that didn't actually get emotional through this episode.
That said, it was a splendid episode and a nice strengthening of the bond between Yuu and Nao. Just excellent for it to be broken in the upcoming episodes due to whatever cause, and then most likely rebuilt/regained yet again. I expect even heavier spikes to take place than the one at the end of the 6th episode.
Still, until anything heavy happens, I'm just focusing on the Yuu x Nao ship.
i hope they dont pull a guilty crown and constantly tease at a relationship and turn this into a bonafied romance series. Are they together? Yes? No? Not anymore? -_- i hope they focus more on the plot and the possible ship just sort of gradually builds up, Nao doesn't come off as a wishy washy type of protagonist either so i'd hate for her to turn into that.
What I'm really fearing is that Jun Maeda might pull something nasty to ruin the ship, we know he likes to toy with our feelings so I think it's better to prepare for the worst.
I have the fear that maybe Yuu discoverses something about Ayumi and that she's still alive (but is captured bay scientists or something wich makes her unreachable for Yuu).
The worst scenario would bee that it would break Yuu again and nao would'nt be able to save him again. It would hurt both of them and ruin the shup D:
The singing brought chills. Love that voice. Overall decent episode! It feels a bit weird to me how they jumped back to the same humor from previous episodes after all that's happened. This is just a hunch but did Zhiend's vocalist have powers back in the day too? That's how she "cheated" her way to fame?
Definitely on board the Yuu x Nao ship too :D
Yeah, I thought that how they went right back to the humor was weird at first, but then I got to thinking that everyone was trying to act normal so Yuu didn't feel like everyone was pitying him, and they were trying to get things back to normal. Still, really well done episode, loved the vocalist, who really reminded me of Iwasawa from Angel Beats!
Episode 9 preview is out. Looks like imouto is actually alive, shame.
Well, that's just stupid. Some characters are better off dead...
What does that supposed to mean?
After that resignation and then restoration we've seen, I would have found the sister's role to be powerful enough to influence the series in the way she has. This turn-around just forces her in yet again and, at least for me, it isn't that pleasant of a feeling. I'd rather see a new semi-arc over bringing the attention surrounding her back again.
I'm seeing some similarities with the key image they show about two figures standing in the corridor of the laboratories... so far we can see that EVERYONE IS CAPTURED in the PV (speedbro and idolgirl included) and we have to assume that Nao is perhaps the only one that's free. Now according to the pv Yuu will escape and perhaps he will try to save everyone, I knew episode 9 was going to turn the whole flow of the story upside down... but this is madness.
So in other words, something happened during or after the concert of ZHIEND, so we better get some good explanations between episode 9 and 10.
And regarding pizzasis being alive... they better have a fucking perfect explanation for that crap and not a bullshit deus ex machina.
Right? It doesn't feel right to just kill of Yuu's sister then magically bring her back. Really Maeda?
A popular rule of anime is if you don't see the person die or you don't see a corpse, then technically they're not confirmed dead. If you apply that here then there's a good explanation. The scientists took her and covered up the fact that she's alive.
Thing is... we saw a freaking pool of blood, A POOL BLOOD. Sure as you said we didn't saw a body but the fact the there was a lot blood on the rubble... well, it was pretty much hinting that someone died or that it was badly injured, so we need to wait for the next episode to find out what really happened.
