Which one is better? MYANIMELIST or ANILIST
mal is kinda garbage but since my favorite mobile app that I use to watch anime is using mal to synchronize my lists I'm kinda forced to first sync anilist with mal on a regular basis...
@REXTON If you're talking about Anyme X I would highly recommend staying away from it and it's developer.

There is also another subreddit but AniList markdown won't link it because the subreddit name is the name of a certain anime piracy site; just search "Zunjae reddit" on google and it should come up. The title is "AnYme Developer, Zunjae: A Toxic Developer."
thought that was just common sense? i get that lengthy wait times and rules suck but like generally using they/them pronouns on the internet seems like an unspoken rule.
edit: >free of cost and political bullshit
what's even remotely political??
Ah, I think you've misunderstood. If you use a gender pronoun you get banned. Along with asking for gender or assuming genders.
This is a very selfish thing to do considering Zunjae is non-binary and due to that thinks everyone should treat others by his standards.
Think of it this way, if someone is male or female you are not allowed to refer to them by the correct gender pronouns (even though it's more respectful) you must refer to them as they or them per his standards which I view as selfish.
Also, I have no idea what communities your hanging out in were you don't use any gender pronouns but that's impressive.
And yes, it is political. Opinions on how to treat gender pronouns is not diminishing human rights. Mistreating someone because of there gender is diminishing human rights.
really don't want to go off topic rip
do you look at accounts and automatically assign gender to them? never really got how that works. i understand if they present feminine or masculine in pictures but in just anime accounts and such it seems impossible to know or 'assume' pronouns. That rule seems weird but i'm pretty sure they have good intentions.
Plus cis people still have pronouns, how is that a political statement? it seems like as soon as you mention them people tend to automatically think of trans/nb folks but dude you get called something every day it's not a political crisis.
MAL has a larger database and the forums are more active, but I dislike the people there. Anilist is a lot more visually appealing and I like the people here more, but the forums here are like a ghost town. Both MAL and Anilist have their own benefits, so its hard to choose which one is better.
MAL has a larger database
Depending on how you define "larger" this is untrue
That was just an assumption since I can't add Tsuruki Shizuka to favs on here. Also, when I transferred my list from MAL to Anilist a couple of manga entries were missing. I don't really know if MAL has more entries or not, but I do know that it's missing some that MAL has.
edit: I was able to find some of the manga that was missing after the transfer. Idk why they didnt show up when I first transferred my list tho.
On any database you use there will be entries missing that the other ones have. As some have mentioned already we have more of the experimental shorts and many more manga. Also for staff credits our information is much more detailed than MAL (this is the type of data that if its not detailed its kind of worthless).
Meh, the people here, and the people in Mal, is just the same tbh
I've only been here for a month so I can't really judge, but from what I've seen the people here are slightly better. Also, I forgot to add that the mods on MAL are shit. I got banned for a month just for "flirting" with other users even though they were the ones posting sexual comments on my profile. Hopefully the mods here are actually decent.

What I like about AniList:
That's about it I guess. I still go with MyAnimeList if you asked me. My MAL account serves still mainly as my primairy listing account, while my AniList account serves as a back-up whenever MAl get yet another DDoS attacked and what not.
Devil's Advocate
I actually like MAL design more (I like the 90s to 00s look of it), and if it wasn't for their dunce moderators, I will never be here. I like the "Mal people toxic" argument, when y'all are just as toxic as them, the only thing that this website has over Mal is the larger Manga database (more manhwa), and better interface, everything else is way behind (mostly social features).
Somehow I've had more isseus with annoying snowflake mods over here than on MAL on a much shorter time span. There even more entitled than the ones on MAL. If you really have an issue on AniList you need to go to their fucking cancerous Discord server. No support on site because you never know which entitled mod with no backbone you're dealing with in the first place. Fuck that shit.
But you're sort of right about the comparison with manga manga aswel. Counter argument is that they are way less data base mods with a larger pending to approval list over there than here. So ye.
