I'm kinda curious to hear who are your favourite Rock/Metal artists.Mine are 5FDP,Rise Against and Disturbed. Also try to avoid Electronic,Alternative Rock etc.I want to see how many Metal fans are among the anime community.Oh and I'm happy to discuss any suggestions you have.See you in the posts below!

None of it is similar to your taste (nu metal / alternativ metal ): But yeah, you can try Machine Head, Slipknot , Korn, DevilDriver, Soulfly etc.
You can also tryout some metal core stuff like ''As I lay dying '' since it comes pretty close to what you listen to. And also some thrash metal stuff like Sepultura, Slayer,Pantera etc.
Good Power Metal starting bands : HammerFall, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody of Fire or just (Nightwish).
Apocalyptica´s : ''Cult'', ''Reflections'' and'' inquisition symphony'' are pretty good as well.
Katatonia is also pretty easy to get in. start with the album : ''The Great Cold Distance''
Though nu metal, metal core (everything with core) and alternative metal are my least fav. metal subgenres.
Are you okay with growls / screams etc. ? If so ,then I can suggest you some folk- , pagan-, melodic death metal bands.
Hmmm haven't heard most of your fav bands. No matter though I'll try listening to a couple of their songs.I'm mostly a heavy/groove metal fan but I don't really mind screams.Although I tend to stay away from death and black metal some suggestions won't be bad.I was actually going to start lestening to Slipknot and Machine Head anyway. The core stuff are slighty different but for some reason I can't really enjoy them.I have a feeling that you're gonna suggest a lot of bands so thanks in advance.
okay, you can also try out some sludge metal, like :
Post Rock (shoegaze/ post punk) :
Experim/ post rock :
Shoegaze/ Post rock :
Mono
My Dead GirlFriend
Wassermanns Fiebertraum
And ofc, the best metal band out there : Babymetal
And I´m surprised no one called a visual kei band yet. Since this is an anime community site ^^.
So here are some visual kei bands (and yes they look gay af -.-, but some bands have good songs)

good list, though Kvelertak is probably the only band here , the OP might like :D . Caladan Brood, but no Summoning :D?
[Removed]
Try ''Lugburz'' my fav. album from summoning. Less Dungeon Synth , more black metal :)
And Midnight Oddesy , Ancient Wisdom or Caladan Brood are all pretty close to dungeon synth as well.
One of my fav. atmo bm is ''Lustre'' , is similar to Midnight Oddesy. But again, there is not much black metal to be found.^^
Draumar is also pretty neat.
Do you listen to dsbm as well ?
[Removed]
Shining is kinda ..meh ^^
Never heard of Grift, but it sounds pretty good. That piano part is placed very well.
Not a big fan of Dark Funeral , Taake. ^^ Although Taake is fine I guess. Cult of fire live was a blast this year (2015^^), Inquisition was good as always. Mgla was also pretty dope.
2016 will be a poor year for me though^^, No time / money for festivals ...only ''under the black sun'' , but the line up looks pretty bad so far,so yeah.,.
Hihi!
I don't listen to much rock at this point aside from prog rock and J-rock. If you can be more explicit with what you tend to like and what you dont like I can try to narrow it down some. Based on a few of the comments above I can guess some of these bands you wont like at all.
Out of the different genres I mentioned do any sound appealing?
Well I mostly prefer Groove/Alternative/Heavy/Nu metal.I guess I can try some other genres but definetly not Doom,Black and Death metal.I listen to a little Metalcore as well but not as much as the other genres
Maximum the hormone is a nu-metal japanese band.
All the stuff in the heavy metal metal may be good for you. Some of the stuff in power metal like Sabaton may be up your aisle as well.
I typically dont like doom metal myself but Woods of Ypres blew me away.
Have you listened to any of the prog metal bands I listed?

Uhhhhhh, I listen to a bunch of garbage but off the top of my head here's what I usually end up listening to most of the time. Tried to only include bands for which I have more than just a couple of songs in my musical library because otherwise, this list would be ridiculously long. It's mostly power metal though.
Hypocrisy (Swedish death metal about things ranging from Satanism, to aliens, to conspiracy theories)
Pain (Musical project by the head of Hypocrisy, it's basically industrial metal)
Sonata Arctica (First power metal band I ever listened to)
Blind Guardian (Second power metal band I ever listened to)
Royal Hunt (progressive/power metal band that has a bunch of albums, some really good, some really mixed)
Grave Digger (heavy metal/power metal band from the 80's, some stuff is great, some is ehhh)
Hell (NWOBHM band from the 80's that came back a few years ago and actually started releasing albums and it's just glorious. One of my favorite bands)
Battle Beast (power metal, with numerous songs strongly about Berserk which is just kind of crazy)
Bejelit (power metal band that's really unknown, a majority of songs are definitely Berserk inspired)
Bloodbound
Xandria
Demons & Wizards
Van Canto (acapella power metal)
Avantasia
Freedom Call
Iron Fire
Keldian
Lost Horizon
Manowar
Masterplan
Sabaton
Stratovarius
My Last.FM, though I listen to more than just metal overall so
