I suppose this is a bit general but I wanted to hear from you all on what anime you wish you could see completely over for the first-time again. I mean like going in knowing nothing and not being sure what to expect first-time. Why would you pick the anime you did? Your favorite? The most unique show you've seen? Just want to see the characters grow again? (Or maybe you just want to suffer through a 50% again, idk I'm not you lmao)
What do you guys think? It doesn't have to be your all time favorite... but rather just a show that you really felt a connection to I guess.
For me, I think I'd want to see Plastic Memories again. That show, albeit not extremely popular among some other bigger titles, was absolutely amazing to me and I would love to see it all over again since there aren't really plans for a second season.
I wish I weren't influenced by all the fandom BS. The hype and hate were creating unrealistic expectations, with schadenfreude-type people spoiling the story.
I have to credit the soundtrack of Bleach for giving it quite some character. It did really well to create suspense and chills. The comic relief balanced it out well.
Spoilers/theories hinted at what was to come. I blame the anticipation generated from this as what caused me to suffer through my first watch-through. The filler arcs only exacerbated it. If I could go back and watch it without my current knowledge, I wonder how it'd go if I marathoned it without fillers.
probably ouran. i felt like i went into it not expecting anything good so i didn't take it seriously. now it's one of my favorites after rewatching it. such a good anime, i don't understand how people think it's lame (it is cheesy i'll admit but it's cute and the characters are so different. LOL i think i just love this anime too much)
Really can't replace the first watch of Madoka. I was very fortunate to go in completely blind, knowing only that the series was popular - but not any of the details.
I listen to this anime's OST on Spotify but I haven't actually seen it yet hahaha... I'll check it out!
Absolutely do!
I'm partial to the tv series instead of the recap movies as a callout; I feel like the pacing is designed for tv episode gaps and stringing it all together as a movie just doesn't have the same "punctuation."
it's on the list!
i make no guarantees though... i say one thing and then end up falling into a 132085 season anime rabbit hole so.... i'll get to it eventually LMAO
Yeah, I've definitely fallen victim to the same.
I try to go back and cull my Plan to Watch list every now and then, but it's still a bit unwieldy.
I'm of the opinion that there are too many good shows out there to waste time on anything subpar, though, so I do tend to drop a lot of airing seasonal shows. That usually frees up a slot to watch a couple things off my Plan to Watch list each year.
Attack on Titan Season 3
and
When They Cry
Such great rides the whole way through. I think with these two, I was literally on the edge of my seat every episode.
It would be great to laugh at all that stuff again.
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K
@dylxxn I'm with you, I'd definitely pick Plastic Memories, It was a beautiful story... And I'd love to experience it for the first time again!
Prison School and
Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion
I no longer enjoy these ones as much as I did when i first watched them all the other things ive seen are at least a little more enjoyable now, but honestly why not all of them.
Attack on Titan
The Promised Neverland
Death Note -before the Near arc
Toradora
Best romcom anime of all time
I've seen a few people hating on this because "Taiga is too abusive" -_-
Taiga is obv BEST TSUNDERE
Taiga being considered to abusive does no 1 know louise from zero no tsukaima

Zero Louise is also a love of my life. My second favourite Tsun after taiga but literally a hair width.
Louse Shana and Taiga are the holy trinity of Tsundere

If this Shana girl is in the same league as Lousie and Taiga, tell me what anime she is from! I am literally going to binge it now when I'm home from work!
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
Definitely, I cried my eyes off.
Mushishi
Picked up Mushishi on a whim in high school knowing nothing about it and I fell so hard for it. It was unlike anything I had ever seen and it changed what I looked for in new shows. I've rewatched it so many times and it's still great but that first watch was something magical.
Inazuma Eleven GO
This was one of my first animes ever watched when I was young and I really enjoyed it
Context and story-time: I read the one shot AND the manga. absolutely loved both. The year is 2017, just found out one of my favourite studios already adapted it into a movie. Decide to watch it with my partner at the time who was a casual anime watcher but a huge movie watcher. Since it's a romance I thought it would be perfect. I told him just how happy and excited I was to watch this since I loved the source material.
Plot spoilers below.
He didn't really react to any of the movie for most of its duration. At the balcony scene, the climax of the movie, he suddenly burst into laughter. I was sitting there like "ok what the fuck man" and he said "this is so unrealistic and stupid lol. there's no way he could save her from falling like this irl." this seriously ruined the entire film for me. I felt so embarrassed telling him about how much I love the manga prior to watching it. I felt so stupid and invalidated.
I really wish I could re-experience this movie with someone else, like my sister who is also a film fanatic, but at least she's not a fucking asshole. I'm sure the film is great. I remember it looking absolutely stunning, but this single experience completely ruined it for me.
