Once it starts turning into a harem it kind of ruins it for me.
Time skip,
starts with some action then reverse time skip,
terrible animation and terrible CGI,
finding out the plot and or premise being almost or is exactly the same as another anime,
Woke political shit
Harem not done right
oversexualizing characters
weapons that are x2 as their body size
literally a school for anything
Studios usually put the most effort into first episodes. If animation and direction are questionable at the beginning then most likely the rest will be even worse and you should instantly drop it.
I have to disagree here. A lot of anime need a few episodes to really get going. There have been some great anime that had some pretty mediocre first few episodes.
oh yeah, the kingdom anime is an extreme example of that
first episode of the first season was all CGI (and not even good CGI at that), and really dragged it down, but it seems that as time went on, the quality really improved, season 2 cut down a lot on the CGI and season 3 from what we've seen is a massive jump forward in quality
When the main character isn't interesting at all, examples;
Fruits basket's main character, I dislike her.
Diabolik lover's main character, what the fuck is this?
Dance with devils, I wasted my time watching this.
MCS LIKE THAt?
When the character experiences the same type of situation over and over while being shocked by it every time.
An example of this:
Kimi ni Todoke
It really feels like the show repeats itself a lot.
Reliance on ecchi and young girls falling in love with teachers/brother figures/anyone else that they probably shouldn't (as in, not just 'ooh he handsome and dreamy', like proper romantic feelings) Makes me feel uncomfortable as hell every time.
That's rich considering I just finished (and enjoyed the hell out of) RokuAka.
I also don't really like series that glorify some NEET incel as someone to be respected (case in point, Konosuba), but if the writers are good enough at satirising their behaviour and letting you know that they disagree with it without being too heavy-handed, it's acceptable.
Also anything that has school girls in some kind of weird, revealing school outfit. RokuAka was bad enough in that respect, but at least it didn't make a show of them and stuck relatively well to the plot.
