What is the worst anime you have ever watched?
This could also include the most messed up anime you've watched or just generally an anime you can never forget about (no matter how hard you try) D:
I just wanted to see some other peoples' answers of their bad anime experiences so yeah :p
There are animes out there, which made me think, that was a complete waste of time, nothing happend at all.
But i really get angry and pissed of, if there is an anime which kinda starts good, and you think "yeah, that could be something really good." and then the season is over, and you think:"nothing happend at all. sure there are some guys who take action, but what about the useless MC? he didnt do anything usefull, and was pretty annoying on top of it. always crying, and i always thought, that he could do soooo much, why doesnt do he ANYTHING but crying?!?
But well, the season endet with a cliffhanger and i thought, maybe he gets badass in the second season. i mean his hearcolor changed after all.
But noooo ... he disappointed me every Episode, useless to the end. and at the end hes just carrieng his friend crying, after he let him die.
Well, that friend was useless as well, he got a lot of information, and could have done a lot, but he didnt do anything as well ...
that anime was a huge disappointment. I hate the MC and most other Charackters in the Anime.
But thats not all of it, everywhere everybody says, how good and awesome that anime is ... how could anybody with a bit of sense think, that THAT anime was anygood?!?
Well, if you want to know what anime im talking about:
Tokyo Ghoul
I didn't even have to look at the spoiler to know what you're talking about.
DEFINITELY one of the worst things i've seen. Talk about wasted potential, lazy animation, bad characters, disappointment all around. (shittest MC in the world)
The other day my housemate said she cried at the end of S2, because it was beautiful and emotional...I don't know how anyone could've got any feelings but anger at that huge pile of shit ending,
Now for my worst experience?
Pupa :Awful sound effects, ugly animation, the overall atmosphere of the series and the stupid characters just made for a super uncomfortable experience.
Coppelion: beautiful sceneries, interesting concept. Boring as FUCK characters, who I gave no shits about whatsoever. The creators didn't even try to make these characters likeable. Every episode was dragged on, as in, it was pointless as nothing interesting happened. When the drama and the action came it was laughable because they tried so hard to make me like these characters and suffer for them.
Kanojo Flag: get every generic stereotype in anime ever, make them the most annoying as possible. Now add a script made of constant bickering between all 15 girls who are chasing this one spineless MC. The bickering will prevent any actual plot or interesting points from happening. Add a pinch of bullshit ending. The result is THE worst thing i've tried to watch.
Ahh, the MC did kinda annoy me in Tokyo Ghoul a lot of the time. I still somehow like the anime..probably because of how the soundtrack goes with it...but a lot of the time I found myself facepalming with some of the things that happened in the anime.
Also Pupa....I watched the first 3 episodes and thought what am I even doing xD
tokyo ghoul definitely has it's fair share of problems, particularly the anime, but i personally think theres nothing wrong with a weak or even sometimes annoying MC. A good MC or just a good character does not mean you want to be friends with them in real life, a good character in anything is a character that has realistic and fleshed out characteristics, is consistent and the decisions they make are not contrived, and accurately reflect how a real person may have acted given their situations. For example, touka. She's a pretty straight forward character and plays the edgey teenage girl character, but realistically speaking, she did remind me a LOT of people who i knew in real life and did actually behave in a really, almost scarily so, realistic way.
The main problem with this anime is the alternation of manga storyline AND the limited time the anime has.
Personally, first season was quite the dull experience. The idea was actually pretty cool - the producers could play it off as a hipster badass piece, which they did not, and the second season - now if I try to pretend I haven't read the manga - was actually quite the amusing piece if I may.
If we lower our standards and expect no more than an ordinary action - blood, fights, friendship, then I wouldn't call it the worst anime ever. But for a person that has high expectations OR read the manga, it's a painful view. But still, far from absolute zero. It can be seen as a bad anime. Or even very bad anime. But the worst? Naah.
That is all I'm saying. Manga's good.
Diabolik Lovers, I suppose.
School Days.
I don't even want to talk about it, I was traumatized.
Honestly, the ending was the only SLIGHTLY satisfying scene from the whole series.
Absolutely plain characters with no development whatsoever, terrible animation, pointless dialogues, no atmosphere at all, each episode brought 25 minutes of boredom, music is not worth even mentioning. In short, it was bad - boring and stupid.
On the other hand, if I were to say one good thing about this anime. it would be the ending. And even there I wouldn't praise it all that much - more precisely it was the only moment of School Days that was acceptable.
akame ga kill or tokyo esp for worst animes ive completed.
familiar of zero or himouto for worst animes ive dropped.
No doubt, Glasslip. To this day I'll roll my eyes in annoyance whenever someone mention it.. Don't get me wrong, the animation style is lovely etc., but it just didn't make up for the fact that I thought the story was a mess. Watched all 13 episodes too bc I was certain the story would make sense in the end.. It didn't. ¯༼ ಥ ‿ ಥ ༽/¯
Do you know the Youtuber Gigguk?
He always gaves his comments about anime, and tells what animes are about in a nutshell.
He said about Glasslip: "It's litterly nothing" and jumped to the next anime. And i couldnt disagree with him not even the slightest. xD
But since nothing bad happend or else, its Neutral, so i personally wouldnt count it as bad/worst anime though.
But nobody can blame you for hating it xD
No, haven't heard of him before! Well.. I agree with him. Its basically nothing. Its personally preference tho, in my eyes it counts as a bad anime since I basically wasted my time watching 13 episodes of nothing.. ¯(⌣̯̀⌣́)/¯ I won't say I hate it, but it makes it at the bottom of my list at least.. Just an example how you can get too caught up with the whole "dont judge a book of its cover" since the animation style is beautiful (・∧‐)ゞ
I'll go with Devil May Cry
For a big fan of the games as me it was torture to watch the series get butchered like this.Of course I didn't finish it,actually I don't even remember much only that it was bad
Glasslip. Had more fun watching paint dry then sitting through that anime (Well, not really, but you get the point.)
Also while most of White Albumn 2 was not bad, I can never forget the absolutly stupid ending which kind of made me really dislike the charecters because of their personality and their stupidity. Good job, White Fox Studios. The ending was terrible for all those involved. To be fair, I can't blame the studio, because from what I have read, VN adaption wise, it was a pretty accurate adaptation of the non-interactive first part.
My unholy trinity of shows I've finished are
Elfen Lied: probably the worst anime I've seen all-around, objectively speaking. Poor animation, poor voice acting, gratuitous gore and nudity that only exist to make it seem more "mature" and end up at odds with each other rather than complementing each other, heavy-handed misanthropy, etc.
Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara/If Her Flag Breaks: Somehow manages to be the most generic light novel comedy, way too edgy, incredibly convoluted, and just flat-out uninspired and boring, all at the same time. And due to various projects, I've somehow ended up watching the entire show 3 times.
OreImo. It started out strong, but that only makes its failures more unforgivable. It's not the incest that bothers me. I'll watch and flat-out enjoy trashy incest shows. It's that Kirino is an incredibly obnoxious character and the most generic of tsunderes. It's also that the writer uses his characters as mouthpieces to preach about his views on the anime industry, which I found flat-out offensive due to how much they insulted both my intelligence and the effort of many hardworking people.
Nobody is ever mentioning Midori: Shoujo Tsubaki.
To be honest, what I appreciate about this movie is the fact it has only about 50 minutes and nothing more (excluding the live action disaster). It might be seen as an art, for some reasons, and even though I am a great fan of freak shows, disgusting and creepy scenerios, circuses, this movie was almost impossible to watch.
Part of my twisted self wants to give it credit, since it truly is the only anime of this genre, I have never seen anything like this, but I was indeed disturbed - and honestly, my wretched mind can handle anything - rape, murder, torture, genocide - but this gave me the chills and I nearly didn't get through the first ten minutes.
So, I'm not saying the worst, because it fulfilled its goal, but definitely the most messed up. I recommend. Go watch it. Get ruined.
As for the worst, I'd like to mention Date a Live, Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora.
Well, I didn't finish it so maybe it got better, but I felt like Love Live was actually destroying my brain cells. Had to drop it for my own sanity.
so maybe it got better
Not really. I didn't get too much of a sense of camaraderie from the cast at all throughout the series. It was fun while it started and there are some really likable characters but S2 was just so bad mainly because of Honoka.
Lolol glad I dropped it then. I was watching it with a friend at the time and I couldn't stop shitting on it during each watch so I think we both got tired of watching together. Me because of the show, him because of me constantly shitting on the show and not letting him hear anything.
The second season of vanilla is widely recognized as the stronger one, because it gets away from simply "ganbarimasu"-ing everything and actually throws some conflict into the mix. Never heard of anyone tossing it over Honoka. It's an ensemble cast; she doesn't get any more attention than the other eight.
Also, the film was pretty awesome, and Sunshine brought us the only kind of characters who could possibly take the reins from μ's. The only folks who didn't enjoy it are those who convinced themselves it was some sort of "carbon copy", when in fact it was orchestrated in an entirely different fashion and did a much better job of playing with the viewer's emotions.
I don't think most people watch LL for an idol experience (there's very little competitive tension--such as what we see in Hibike!). You watch it for the comedy of clashing personalities and well-written dialogue. This article takes a shot at explaining it.
There really isn't a such thing as worst anime as there are too many categories to choose from. If it's terrible in more than one category, you usually wouldn't even watch it. That being said. The worst character development and relationships has got to be SAO. The story wasn't terrible, but god the characters felt like cardboard cutouts.
