I have to say
The MAPPA CGI/3D is done very well like the one in the Wit studio (except for the titan beast which looked like a model of the PlayStation)
BUT
Wit Studio only used the CGI for the colossal titan
the battles between the giants were all hand drawn and done perfectly
While here, MAPPA studio, since the first episode , There was no scene of rainer and zeke transformed into giants drawn by hand and not in CGI.
After the first episode
I only complain about this
The rest was PERFECT
But unfortunately my thoughts remain the same
I miss Wit Studio and I think I would have preferred it to stay and do the final season.
I hope that with the next few episodes I will take these words back, because attack on titan deserves the best
I hope the MAPPA studio will not disappoint me/us
(Hope u guys enjoyed this episode)
wait i never knew the reason. why did they have mappa take on aot instead? was it budget?
The production company hired Wit Studio for the animation of the first three seasons. The studio was given enough time to make the first three seasons. But for season 3 part 2, they went through a very rough phase of animating multiple anime and the production company wanted the studio to make it as soon as possible. But for the final season the producers wanted it to be adapted within 6 months which was not possible for Wit because of their small staff so they had to decline. Mappa has a bigger staff and managed to pull through the first part of the final season. Mappa would have put really good animation like Wit but there wasn't enough time to do it. This was because the manga was coming to an end and the producers wanted more audience.
I was expecting a good 2D animation from MAPPA (just you have to see what they are doing in Jujutsu Kaisen, it's a really good animation), I'm disappointed that they used 3D animation for the armored titan and the beast titan, as you say, Wit Studio only used it for the colossal titan and it was not 100% CGI, they were switching between 2D and 3D depending on the scene. From what we saw in this first episode, MAPPA used 3D all the time for whatever moves smart titans did.
That's the things I didn't like at the moment, but I liked the rest of the animation and colors.
I hope MAPPA improves that aspect in future battles where Titans appear.

Firstly sorry for my bad english.İm a manga reader of the Shingeki No Kyojin and when i watch S4 EP6 i just said "What?" Really guys im talking about this even making ELDIAN SOLDIERS CGI this is suck.I really dont love CGI and people say "TheY haVE onLY 6 MOnThS iTs gOOd" I dont want a series like Attack On Titan this shitly 10 fps animations mappa seriously good job about drawing and color selection but this CGI making anime cringly remember when S1 Attack Titan closing wall with rock how everyone hyped in that scene or Levi vs Kenny Squad there is no CGI And its very very good fight but look Warhammer Titan vs Attack Titan... it didnt make me excited or hyped i just laughed a lot of when Eren punchs Warhammar titan like TINK TINK TINK Like a Hardened Attack Titan punchs Iron Bars lol lets talk about manga first i saw episode 100-101 "İts episode 6 maybe?" i just hyped and excited in manga like when i look eren eyes i feel everything, or another characters but in anime i just see some death boi eyes really i didnt love Attack On Titan S4 if mappa do all basic titans with CGI then i just say dont do it i can wait for 2 years WIT make new S4 with hand draw and WITs draw style... its big disappointment. Btw Mappas Sasha very Hot :)
I'm also a manga reader and the CGI ain't even THAT bad at all, in fact id say its good. Obviously, i have some complaints here and there but its not that bad and i think MAPPA has done a great job, especially the Warhammer vs Eren fight which was great.
As much as the production quality is the worst for the series, i wouldn't say its BAD. I'l wait it out for now and see if it becomes better at the end.
I would say MAPPA did a fine job with the CGI but not great. There are better example like Kengan Ashura, Levius and Ajinn on how to CGI.
What they did better was the choreography. Which is why people are too upset. Because the pacing is different now with the different director. Making the fight scene way less intense. People are blaming the animators but the real problem is the producers and the directors.
" ELDIAN SOLDIERS CGI this like sucks"
Some shots were off, but the Mikasa scenes were top tier cgi usage for this medium imo.
"I really dont love CGI and people say "TheY haVE onLY 6 MOnThS iTs gOOd" I dont want a series like Attack On Titan this shitly 10 fps animations" It was definitely more than 10 frames per second.. Have you seen what 10fps looks like? Not trying to be rude, im actually curious.
"but this CGI making anime cringly remember when S1 Attack Titan closing wall with rock how everyone hyped in that scene or Levi vs Kenny Squad there is no CGI And its very very good" Levi vs Kenny Squad and Levi vs Beast were done by a freelancer, not by wit studio. Actually, a lot of their high budget action scenes you see for AOT are done by him.
" when Eren punchs Warhammar titan like TINK TINK TINK Like Hardened Titan punchs Iron Bars." Yeah, different types of armor usually make a clanging sound when they bash together.
" i can wait for 2 years WIT make new S4 with hand draw and WIT`s draw style... its big disappointment."
Wit doesnt decide the production schedule, if they picked it up it would of been cgi because they would of been forced to animate it within the same amount of time as mappa ontop of a pandemic.
Dont worry about your english, its fine just try to put periods and commas so people dont have a hard time reading your posts.
I haven't seen above episode 3, but I saw some clips on youtube and it looked....bad. It is still not a reason for how the community(the toxic ones anyway) has been harassing MAPPA staff on twitter though. It was unavoidable for them to use CGI and not even that surprising since this adaptation was rushed by the committee. I am not a manga reader but I can't imagine this ending in 16 episodes.
I'm not sure what is your intention with this topic?
CGI costs way more than hand-drawn animated scenes and they're tight on the time because of covid.
No studio was brave enough to take up the project because of the expectations and haters that was gonna come with (like you example) so there wasn't any choice at all, MAPPA was the only one who wanted to take it.
You are one of the many who hates the CGI, some are way worse who actually harasses the actual staff working on anime. Don't take the anime for granted, staff works with sweat and blood to make it for you then you just pirate it from some illegal site, end up writing about how you dislike the CGI and are disappointed. That's moronic.
Yeah, in all honesty, the animation and CGI for this season has been disappointing. I think Eren's model is the worst one, probably because he has long hair (which looks very bad in CGI) and his eyes look kinda dead, I was expecting them to glow like the Beast Titan's. Then again, we're in the middle of a pandemic and the studio had very little time because of the production schedule that they were given. If I'm not mistaken, the animators wanted to release it till later this year, but the production committee didn't allow it.
It's a shame, because it could've been so much better if they were given more time. Still, all the staff over at MAPPA have a lot of passion for the project and I'm really grateful that they're making it, since we wouldn't have gotten a final season at all if it weren't for them (no other studio wanted to pick AoT up because of the horrible schedule). Although the animation leaves a lot to be desired, the story is still there and that's the thing that is most important to me.
The Final Season is yet another victim to the anime industry, so I hope this incident can highlight a bit of the extremely poor way it currently works and, in the future, make higher ups of other projects think a bit more when making schedules.

Studio WIT didn't want to do S4 so they dropped it. Out of all the studios MAPPA was the only studio that actually picked the anime up, you have to respect them for that.
If you hate the animation just don't watch it. You already know what's gonna happen cuz you've read the manga. The animators are already having a hard time with the on-going pandemic, with animating jujutsu kaisen and Time crunching. On top of that, they're dealing with death threats just because y'all are getting mad that they didn't use the right ost or CGI. Give them a break.
Do you really want this.....
over this?
Be grateful that you're even getting a season 4 otherwise, just don't watch it and go re-read the manga
There is a reason people like you are the ones watching the anime and not helping create it. Clearly you don't understand how it's not as easy as one click of a button to make good CGI, especially under the current conditions of the world. Just go back to being a loser like every other AOT manga reader lmao.
I would rather wait much longer if it means not watching this god awful CGI... I hate it when people say we should be thankful because they had little time to work on it or whatever lol. Is it really worth it for people not waiting long enough and getting a shitty product? What a shame.
That's one of the things that I'm having a bit of trouble understanding. Why couldn't all the studios just say no so that the production committee would be forced to make a better schedule? I heard somewhere that if The Final Season didn't come out this year, the anime would just stop there on Season 3, but it's a little hard to believe that one of the biggest (and most importantly, best-selling) anime of recent years would end just like that. It would be better to delay it and eventually get money than to not release it all and just let the money get away.
The CGI actually looks really good when compared to most action-packed CGI anime (Berserk, Kingdom, Aijin, Kengan Ashura, etc.)
You should be thanking mappa for picking it up, because kodansha set that absurd deadline, a global pandemic messed up all of the anime industry, WIT studio didn't want to produce it, since they were working on Great Pretender already and mappa was the only studio willing to do it. They have some of the best CGI uses in the industry, compareble to the likes of ufotable and KyoAni. And since the deadline was so short, any studio would've used CGI. So it was either this or no S4. I had some problems with the animation too, some soldiers looked kinda off (ep 1 and 6) and some titans could look better (Beast Titan and Attack Titan), but overall it is still an above average production.
