Chainsaw man is an overrated series I don't know why the CSM Simps love it so much CSM 4/10
Why I think its bad
Chainsaw man within its early chapters was a great series I did like it during those early stages it seemed like a fun shonen with a funny cool MC until we reach the later parts of the series around the time Aki Died that is when the series turned into a shitfest in my opinion random things were happening and the story lost its appeal as a lot of things were happening that had no reasoning behind it unnecessary events that have no significance to the story itself characters like denji slowly got boring and the tints of him being a very bland mc started to show the ending was okay but the whole build-up towards it wasn't that great characters died for reasons i deem as unnecessary so basically no reason and the whole story was clustered and i felt as though the pacing was very off

The thing you are failing to pick up on is that this wasn't enough to start a whole thread. This was barely even worth a status post. But you went ahead and made a forum post with no argument to back up your claim and instead insulted the fans of the manga.

Well, it's your opinion. I particularly find it pretty good. It has its mistakes but its amazing how the story flows so well and the characters are so carismatic (Even the main villain). It's a really fun ride in my opinion
I agree that Chainsaw Man is overrated. I gave it 53 chapters of a chance, but never saw the appeal in it. It's just another generic shounen about some unlikable and annoying hot headed protagonist fighting his way through equally generic monsters that the story gives the reader no reason to care about. The only thing that CSM does different is that it tries way too hard to be weird, but it never becomes an interesting kind of weird. It's a shame that whenever someone voices an unpopular opinion, half the people in these threads feel the need to come in and say, "You think this other series is good, so your opinion is invalidated." Surely each one of us have at least one unpopular series that we love, so what's the point of calling someone else out for it?
See this? This is how you make your case. You put in at least a little effort in your critique. If you had done this instead of calling people "simp" for liking a manga you don't we wouldn't relentlessly mocking you.

I would say 6 or 7/10 but I agree, it's overrated. Especially after a particular event... the quality deteriorated
I haven't read it but I've heard that part 2 is going to be moving to another magazine and the release time will be doubled which should help the author put out better product.
I normally don't read this kinda stuff but I picked up Fire Punch on a whim recently and enjoyed it enough to start looking into this stuff more.

Chainsaw Man and its Kafkaesque writing is unparalleled. The poignant and nihilistic storytelling is something you won't find anywhere else, and the dialogue flows like a river. While the panelling not only is appreciated by the sagacious, it requires a keen eye to be fully discerned, not to mention its plot which despite its chaste premise, quickly transforms into a political thriller, which subverts the expectations of its initially seemingly diminutive scope.

If you read everything I posted then you already know that what I objected to was his original post in which he said:

That was all he wrote initially. What I objected to was not his opinion, but his decision to shit up the forum with yet another hot take that was best left for his profile status. So if he wasn't going to put in the effort to explain himself, why should I go through the effort of treating his "argument" seriously? He made the assertion so the onus is on him to back it up.
Since he had such a low opinion of the manga and went out of his way to insult everyone that likes it while planning to read part 2, I figured it was worth calling out his apparent hypocrisy.
After a lot of shitposting we managed to convince him that he needed to explain himself. After that I thanked him for his correction and stopped harassing him and moved on to chatting with the others.

4/10 is a little harsh imo;
The bullet pacing of the plot that accelerated at the midway point is definitely something unsettling and it should be scrutinized. Although I only read but a few other similar shonen, this series did feel refreshing. It didn't really feel all that cookie cutter to me as I found a lot of the ideas tried within the story to be daring and exciting. Moreover, I find the ADHD shotgun spray of plot points to lends itself to this point. I think expecting the unexpected led to a fun reading experience and really encapsulated this particular joy in reading these types of shonen.
The chapter arch to chapter arch cohesion seems to be intentionally loose or weak -- but I dont think this is entirely unsatisfactory since it does not seem that cohesion, at least of this first part, was the point of the story. I think a lot of what happened here will probably manifest itself into some larger symbolic story about relationships (and of course their role in society).
I think CSM is missing a solid universe (a concept I wouldn't be surprised if the mangaka completely turns on its head in later parts of the story). Once we learn more about the hell (in both the under and over world) that is attempted to be constructed here, I bet then we will have the cohesion a lot are looking for.
Ultimately I see CSM as a quick and fun read. The fast pacing of the story feels intentional and its validity should be investigated more as the overarching story develops. CSM captures the joy I get from reading these types of stories while cutting a lot of the fat that can plague the genre. I don't believe CSM has even gotten started as I am still hopeful that the continuation of the series can really become something special. A task easier said than done.
