Looks like there is a civil war going on between the manga readers and the anime only people in the AOT community. This ought to be fun to watch.
People crying about the animation is pretty funny to me. The animation from episode 2 was impressive, and a totally new type of animation I've never seen in action this well. Character movements looked very human, and I guess people hate that? Also the changes from the manga really only make the series better.
It's probably just people that want to hate on the studio change, which is just ridiculous and spoiled. MAPPA is doing a good job so far, but judging them off of 2 episodes is a little silly. That and Manga readers pretending to blend in with anime onlys, to "predict" things that will happen in the anime, is going to tear the fandom apart.
It's the camera angle and the art style that make people angry.
Yeah, but I think the new art style is better for the darker themes present in the new season.
Agreeable. Just wish the Camera angle get fixed.
Changing the way it was used in this episode wouldn't mean it would be "fixing" it because there's nothing wrong with it, changing it to suit your preferred way of camera usage is a personal preference. The camera use here was a stylistic decision by the episode director and it looked really good to me and made the dialogue scenes more interesting.
People need to stop pretending like there's no drop in quality. People said it was amazing and I just couldn't see it. People said the CGI was awesome and they prefer it over 2D titans?? like really??? Im a sucker for sakuga, so CGI could never compete with the god tier animation of Arifumi Imai. "The titans blended well" ???Have u seen Ufotable's anime adaptation??? If you want to blend it you should never used it on titans. Not only do they look like they're from a videogame cutscene but their movements and actions lack any impact to it. It's clear that they're using CGI to cheap out and AoT doesn't really deserve that. The rotoscoping is a poor choice because of the inconsistency, at some frames they look super smooth and at some frame they look choppy. Well maybe it just me but its really noticeable to my eyes. Im not hating on Mappa, considering they worked on JJK(Which they did an amazing job) and GOH(amazing animation), I expected it to be at the same level as that if not better. Its ok.. but not mind blowing.. which a series like AoT totally deserves especially for the climax of the series. Seriously like the bar really have fallen that low. I know its only been 2 episodes but with the direction that they're going... It doesn't look good but I love to be wrong here.. we'll see....
You're right, there was a noticeable drop in quality, but what did you expect? This was bound to happen. Even if we got Ufotable, the quality would probably be the same, if not only slightly better. People need to realize that the schedule is the most important factor when it comes to animation quality. Don't blame Mappa. Blame the production company if anything. You're also bringing your expectations way too high if you're comparing cgi to sakuga.
I've seen nobody really complain about anything other than the cgi which is understandable.
If you've made it through 3 seasons of AOT then you're probably a fan so I don't get why you would still be watching if you didn't like it
Ya but it is still better than what wit used.(It is more noticeable because they have used it more frequently).
I don't agree at all lol even if the cg is better which i don't agree with mappa overuses the hell out of the cgi
okay do you remember where you last saw CGI in AOT(in the seasons produced by wit)? I really want to see what makes you think it was better.
(Please give an example of how wit was better not how mappa was bad if you get what I mean)
Here is the pretty noticeable one I have picked. They have used CGI for Bertolt colossal titan. (jump to 2:18 for the scene I am talking about)
I doubt mappa would do better if it doesn't look the same, plus it's excusable because they always used cgi for the colossal because it's huge and I wouldn't even want to animate it.
At least wit wasn't using CGI for just regular titans, that's the biggest turn off for the new season of aot for me.
Okay but maybe that wasn't what I asked for? where's a better one? I think you meant Wit's CGI was better than Mappa's CGI so
imagine saying that while knowing the whole s4 is the most titan crowded fest.
your opinion died the moment you mentioned so i guess , just accept that it couldn't that be done any better? "colossal titan's so huge i wouldn't even wanna animate it" , ever wondered how will mappa animate it? wit dropped it due to the fact that they can't handle it. Not because of the payment issues , but cause of the how actually the animation gonna kill them and if you know it was an agreeable decision by both the production committee and the studio so you can guess it. It's nearly impossible to do this season without cgi. unless you wait for years
and lemme say it if you're an anime only i can understand your frustration but if you're a manga reader then it's just dumb to explain it again
I think they are way too harsh, I mean yeah, I would also like 2d titans more and they use a new artstyle (which I like), but from what I have heard (I didn't read the manga), what is going to happen wouldn't really be possible with 2d titans, so they used 3d ones (which is some of the best cg I saw in anime btw) and they probably just need some time to get used to the new artstyle. I think the animation is amazing, especially the character movement. It just looks so real and natural which I didn't see in any other anime until now
Tbrh I feel like the story itself suddenly changes from fighting Titans and solving some kind of a mystery to now all of a sudden it's about a World War?
tf
fighting Titans and solving some kind of mystery
Yep, that mystery was solved with the basement and Eren's dad flashback (end of Season 3). That explained everything about why the story is where it is at.
I feel more people, especially Youtube reactors, need to rewatch the end of season 3 even multiple times to get the world of Attack on Titans. "Killing all the titans" was the goal because Titans were the enemy killing them, but like Eren wondered at the end of Season 3 if they need to kill everyone on the other side of the see(or in the entire world) since they were the true enemy all along.
