Made this forum 'cause I was curious about the constant debates about the claim that AoT is peak fiction within the fanbase. I was just wondering on people's thoughts and opinions about the topic, I don't mean to stur up conflict or anything, just a civil discussion between fans of the series.
idk about peak fiction, that is very debatable, to me it's up there but I wouldn't say it is the definitive peak. What it definitely is tho is a modern classic, you can't find many recent shows as big as AOT regardless of how good you think it is.
Sao, My hero academia, Naruto, Demon Slayer, they were all big as well lol, and none of those are that good.
naruto is too old to be classified modern classic(it already is a classic tho). also there's more that goes into being a classic than being popular which is why most of those aren't. plus wether those are good or not is debatable, i would say most of them are good but i can see why some may not like them.
What makes a classic to you then if you even label Naruto as a classic.
naruto is a classic regardless if you like it or not, the impact it had on anime alone is enough for it to be labeled as one, same with attack on titan
Sao is also extremely influential, would you label that as a classic?
it's hard to fully describe it, for that i've gone off of these videos for a while now. and on naruto being a classic, even if you don't like it, i think it would be pretty stupid to say it isn't. just off popularity alone it's one of the big 3 which is called the big 3 for a reason. the show is basically as big as dragon ball which undeniably a classic.
I'm not watching some video of a guy speaking for minutes on end, if you're going to be lazy in explaining your points then you probably shouldn't bring it up at all. You literally just said that popularity isn't all there is to being a classic to you, yet that's the only thing you've brought up again.
No one can actually say this. No one can say anything is peak fiction unless they've seen everything fiction that was created. Sure, they can say its the best thing they've seen. You can't even say its the best anime if you haven't watched every single anime. Which is much easier than viewing every single piece of fiction but still quite hard.
I personally think its the best thing I've seen, im sure other's think the same. But unless you've seen every fiction piece you cannot say that its "peak fiction".
I could see it being considered peak fiction depending on its ending tbh. lots of people consider Lord of the Rings to be peak fiction but AoT easily has it beat imo, with its equally impressive worldbuilding, a far more engaging / well thought-out story and numerous thrilling scenes, as well as its realistic portrayal of human emotion.
seems like there's a lot of pretentious people in this thread though. to all the people saying it isn't close to being "peak fiction", I'd be curious to see what you consider to be peak fiction, lol.
