I hate to make comparisons between highly popular anime and new anime of the same category, but I do feel that Chika's character is a clone of Kageyama, but with Tsukishima's body. The rest of the characters are pretty unique, but I feel like something's missing from their development. 2.43 doesn't particularly stand out either, and it low key feels more like a slice of life compared to Haikyu's flashy appearances, character aspects, and overall storyline. If you want to compare it to most sports anime in general, it's much more dull. Is it just me?
lol i was telling others that Chika was a KageTsukki love child;
I would probably be the hundredth person saying this: 2.43 is more slice of life, working on interpersonal relationships, personal issues/identity than actually honing of volleyball skills and team work, which Haikyuu is. Not that Haikyuu is lacking those and 2.43 does not have the aspects of teamwork etc, its just really really different from Haikyuu.
Like how different Slam Dunk, Kuroko no Basuke, and Ahiru no Sora are.
There are lots of things 2.43 can improve on; its not the best Sports anime nor is it the best Slice of Life. Some characters' personality/identity are not fully developed or explored yet, lots of plot holes, timeskips, questionable decisions and events. For me its not boring buuuuut I'm not really excited to watch it asap when the episode drops.
I'm gonna add to the chorus of 2.43's genre being more slice of life or drama than sports, so the comparison with haikyuu will always be unfair. Even OP seems to be aware of this too, so idk. It gets tiring to see this show being put against one of the most popular anime of a different genre over and over again.
I'm watching this show cause I find it enjoyable to see these kids figure out their shit you know
Those 2 shows are pretty different with their focus. HK is more about improving as a player also struggles of a sportsman and development.for ex. "Oikawa Toru Is Not a Genius" "Winners and losers" Tanakas ep and etc. while 2.43 focuses on teenagers life and struggles not only as players but as humans. both are nice.
it low key feels more like a slice of life compared to Haikyu
Haikyuu - Comedy, Drama, Sports
2.43 - Drama, Slice of Life, Sports
but yeah agree chika is similar to middle school kageyama.
storyline is nice but i dislike pacing
haikyuu is focused a lot more on the sport. all the character development and backstory is centered around volleyball.
2.43 is a totally different genre/feeling, it's less focused on volleyball and shows a lot less gameplay bc the characters and their emotional journeys are supposed to be the focus. the only problem so far for me is I'm not very invested in them. Honestly, the best part about the show is the opening song
