I was thinking about doing this post, but hey, I already decided.
i'm posting this because I really wanna know what people that is accustomed to the japanese things, thinks about kpop that it is another Asian language and its so different
So .. Do you know kpop ?, have you ever heard about it ?, without being fan, what do you think about kpop ?, if you like kpop, what your bands are or your favorite band? and if you are fan of kpop, what is for you this genre?, do not ignore me please hahaha.
Sorry for my bad English..
I'm a fan since late 2011/early 2012.
I actually listen to a shit ton of bands/duos/soloists but I guess my big three would be BIGBANG, 2NE1 (forever my queens <3) and Bolbbalgan4 ♥
K-Pop especially BB, was kind of a savior for me during the time I got into it since it helped me to be 'happy' and outgoing again after my mum died. So it's a really importan part of my life since then, and I'm glad I discovered this whole culture (?) because I bond with so many ppl and met many friends :D
@Zetay Do you just listen to the Pop side or also more rock or indie?
I was jrock fan first but CNBLUE (and some others I can't remember) got me into kpop around 2013/2014. And then I started watch dramas too...
My favorite bands/groups: Dreamcatcher, f(x), Akmu, Winner, Day6, VIXX, CNBLUE, KARD (and so many more).
I like rock and indie more than pop and now getting more into hip hop/rnb
Long-time K-Pop fan right here :) Probably started with Wonder Girls when they came out with Tell Me. Nowadays often listen to BTS and Seventeen but was really into B1A4, B.A.P., SHINee, BTOB, AKMU and a lot of other groups when I was a more active fan. They just have really catchy songs in combination with really awesome choreography. Seeing them dance really made me motivated to improve my dancing skills xD
Although I saw some anime before getting into K-pop and Korean dramas, I have been into them for a long time now, and I've only recently gotten more seriously into anime. I love the sound of the Korean language. It sounds similar to English but mostly with words I don't understand. I started K-pop with Girls' Generation, and quickly discovered other K-pop girl groups, such as Kara, After School, 2NE1, T-ara, f(x), and the Wonder Girls. I have tried to keep up with new acts in K-Pop, and these days, I also listen to AOA, Twice, and Blackpink. Most K-pop songs blend in a bit of English, and I enjoy how English and Korean mix well together. I like foreign pop in general, because it lets me enjoy the music without being distracted by bad lyrics. Besides K-pop, I also listen to a lot of Russian pop, especially t.A.T.u., and to some J-pop, such as Stereopony and Eir Aoi. Besides the foreign language aspect, I enjoy hearing groups of girls singing different parts, because it makes the music more interesting. I like variety in pop music, such as breaking up a song with rapping or including a singer with a sharp, raspy voice who wouldn't sound as appealing for the whole song. I sometimes listen to K-pop boy bands and to solo female artists, because I like K-pop in general, but I'm mainly into the girl groups, and I'm not into any solo male artists, such as Psy. While he may be the artist who comes to mind when many westerners think of K-pop, he's not who I think of first when I think of K-pop.
Well, I started to be interested in asian music in 2014, when I streamed anime for the first time, so I was watching some Kyary Pamyu Pamyu mvs when I found a 2NE1 song. I thought it was pretty cool, after that I listened to EXO probably, BigBang, but this playlist was what introduced me to the stuff from that year, and i loved it tbh. The funny thing is that, for some time, I thought that the Korean language was really weird, so when artists/groups had Japanese albums I ignored the Korean versions; I remember downloading japanese stuff from SNSD and 2NE1.
These days Kpop is like, 70% of the music I listen to, I specially like NCT, SHINee, Red Velvet, Lovelyz, B1A4 and Oh My Girl, but I listen to a lot of other stuff. After starting to listen to asian music, honestly i find most western pop songs boring.
I'm pretty open to music of all languages and that includes Korean. I've been a k-pop fan for many years. For a while I stopped listening to new Japanese music because I got kind of sick of all the anime songs (Love Live for example) and idol groups (AKB48) that would top the oricon charts every week.
During that time I would listen to mostly K-Pop and barely any Japanese music. I eventually got back into Japanese music and idol groups like AKB48 thanks to AKB48's 'Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai' song. The music video was amazing and it's still one of my favorites. Now things have switched and I listen to mostly Japanese music and barely any new k-pop. In my opinion, a lot of new k-pop songs aren't as great as k-pop songs from years ago. I just haven't been able to find k-pop songs that I really enjoy that much anymore. I hope that changes soon.
AKB48 helped me get back into Japanese music, but I think the biggest reason I got back into it and continue to listen to it to this day is thanks to alternative idol groups. Groups like BiS, BiSH, Passcode, Yukueshirezutsurezure, Neve Slide Down, etc. I love this style of music. K-Pop groups like Dreamcatcher are somewhat similar to alternative idol groups with their k-pop+rock sound. I wish more k-pop groups would make music like that.
I listen to mostly k-pop girl groups. There are a few boy bands I like though like BTS and B.A.P. My favorite group is TWICE and I like most popular girl groups like GFriend, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, April, EXID, Dreamcatcher, and others.
I'm not the kind of kpop fan that could name every member of bands and what not but i have listened to it a fair amount for years since 2014 on and off!!
I love DREAMCATCHER, they're probably my favourite!
BTOB are great too! Red Velvet are cute!!
I can't say there is much kpop that I don't like? It's a very exciting and upbeat fun genre and i can really get into most all of it!
I've been a fan of anime and Japan's culture since 2009ish officially.
I listened and liked some songs by 2NE1 back in 2012, but didn't look further into it (read: dropping myself into the hell) until October 2016, where BTS pulled me in and got me interested in S. Korea's culture as well.
My groups are (in random order):
BTS
2NE1
BlackPink
BAP
Monsta X
UP10TION
G-Dragon (and likely Big Bang too, just need to listen more of their songs, lmao)
