What did you think of the episode?
That's a constant build-up. Can't wait for next week ! Music came just in time, emotoinnal moments worked (and I don't like Bea, so it was difficult to make a good emotionnal moment with her, to me), and ultra hyped for the last ep.
And now i'm in quest for this HD screenshot, I need this as a new background lol

Have a 9 different frame captures from that scene in 3 different flavors:
Take your pick. Or pick all of them. Or none of them. Up to you.
You're gonna have to deal with Imgur's jpeg compression though because the lossless png's are huge.
If you have Wallpaper Engine I made a loop version (in 4k and 1080p ultrawide) after some upscaling and stabilizing.
That was so beautiful!....
Following on my theory :
On a side note, I love beatrice so much, I cried like a little kid for her.
Beatrice called Emilia "half-devil". Not half-witch... Half-devil. And we know she would never refer a witch as a devil because of her love for "her mother" Echidna. What other devil do we know of ? Hector. Could Hector really be Emilia's father ? Hence why Roswall, who is imitating his behavior, calls Emilia his daughter too ?
Good line of thought but it's based on (kinda) faulty translations. There was quite a bit of those, but let me correct this one. Hector isn't a "devil", that's simply incorrect translation. He's a "warlock" (魔人), the male equivalent of a "witch" (魔女). So he's the same as a witch (the only male witch among the 9, if you will). Misleading translation. Moreover, "half-devil" (半魔) refers only to half-elves because they're the same species as the Witch of Envy (many people called Emilia that in the series). The "devil" (魔) in that is the same element in both "witches" and "warlocks". Hopefully that was clear.
More about Hector, he can't be her father because we knew that Emilia inherited the half-elf features (silver hair, purple eyes) from her father.
Enjoyed your first theory, we'll have to wait and see.
I'm surprised to see such a positive reception, as I didn't like this episode at all.
How can he say such things to Beatrice when he's already got Emilia and Rem? This hurts my impression of Subaru, it's pretty shameful.
Why was Emilia so cold to the Ryuzus' sadness at sacrificing one of their own? This seemed out of character to me.
Worst of all was Subaru running repeatedly into a burning building like that. It would have been easier to accept such dangerous behaviour back when he could return by death and consequences didn't stick to him. I had been excited to see him living in ironman mode, where he'd have to be more careful and consequences would accumulate. It's disappointing that there seem to be even fewer consequences now than in the return by death era, where he'd at least have lost his progress from the last checkpoint. Here, he's unphased and unharmed by choices that should have caused lifelong injuries (his hand was burned at first by the door, but is fine by the time he's squeezing Beatrice's hand with it at the end).

It's not romantic. It has never been romantic with Beatrice. That should have been obvious.

Either that, or he actually loses Beatrice forever. Pretty easy to figure out why he'd take such a risk.
Don't worry, you are not alone. It feels like people are happy with what happens with each episode as if nothing else happened beforehand.
What killed this episode for me was the fact that Ram didn't actually die... Like come on, last episode was fantastic, the end was brutal, and all of that was for nothing, Ram still alive.
Last episode didn't need to happen at all then if the author doesn't have the balls to actually let her die.
Anyway one more episode to go and shelve this one for good.
It would actually be even worse and out of character if she did die just like that lol. I thought people would've been aware by now that she's not a simple, small girl and it takes way more than that to kill her. She's Oni. It was explained way back that Onis are literally the strongest Demi-Humans known for their strong body. She wouldn't die from a "simple magic explosion". I actually feel bad for people who thought it would be enough. Aside from that, we're not even sure what will happen. It may be that, for the time being, she's only alive thanks to his magic. She may actually suffer a lot, we'll see.
