As the title says can anyone explain me what happened in EP 12 I'm genuinely confused . It wud be appreciated if someone helped me
This twitter thread provides an EGGcellent analysis of the episode and a lot of the deeper meaning behind it: https://twitter.com/CapnStarisa/status/1377082360307413001?s=20
Essentially the episode was all about dealing with Ai's trauma by having an alternate her as the Wonder Egg. Through this Alternate Ai, we see what COULD have happened to Ai had she not had friends available to her to fall back on. Feeling left alone to deal with bullying and even worse after her mom got together with the teacher she was suspicious of she takes the drastic step of drowning her self.
It's through this alternate Ai that we can see how far our Ai has come and it ultimate helps in being able to take down the Wonder Killer, that being a warped image of Sawaki-sensei made by the Alternate Ai. Our Ai knows his true personality due in part to how much she has grown.
In regards to Koito, it becomes clear to Ai that Koito was there at the right place and time for her, but she never truly understood anything else about her. This is what leads Neiru to label her as a "fake friend." She was important to Ai, but not the most important person to her now. But she was there when she really needed it, and we see the effect of what happens when she isn't.
This episode is probably one of my favourites just because of all these underlying messages that I'm sure I couldn't cover completely, but the analysis I linked does a better job than I ever could!
the episode, IMO, shows ai's growth ever since the start of the series and how much she's able to immediately recognise what's real to her and what's fake. (for example when neiru said that koito was a fake friend ai was able to recognise that she wasn't fake, just that she wasn't as important as she seemed initially)
10/10 episode big pog moment for Ai can't wait to see her more in action in the sequel!
has the sequel been announced yet?
We have a single thirteenth episode announced to conclude the show this summer:
Wonder Egg Priority Tokubetsuhen
We weren't supposed to have that recap on episode eight, but instead everything got pushed back making this unreleased episode the intended season finale, but the show ran into some issues due to its high standard of animation quality the studio has and had to end an episode early.
It isn't a sequel, it's just the last episode coming to us much later down the line.
What I got from it is that Ai worked through her traumas by helping herself. This mirrors the idea in psychology that the patient has all the answers and it's the therapist's (who doesn't have them) job to help them get to said answers. The other thing that I got from the episode is that you need to help yourself and be in a stable position before you can help anyone else, that's why Ai needed to help the other Ai in order to save Koito. All of this subtext aside, it feels really weird to introduce parallel worlds all of a sudden with no introduction whatsoever. As always, this show really feels like a headless chicken. It seems like the writers discovered a couple of freudian ideas and tried to tackle serious issues but they didn't know how to nor what they wanted to say about them.
