Hello! I was wondering what other people thought about the rewatch value of romantic comedies such as kimi ni todoke, clannad, and maid-sama. I have always enjoyed romantic comedies and I decided to rewatch some of my favourites. Toradora I have rewatched 5 times and always find it amazing, tonari no kaibutsu-kun was ok but I found flaws in shizuku I didnt see the first time. Clannad and kimi ni todoke just bored me to death. However, I am thoroughly enjoying 3d kanojo and relife so its not like I'm getting sick of the slice of life genre. So if you have an opinion of the rewatch value of this genre I'd love to hear it. Also if you have any suggestions those would be good as well :)
Edit: Most people say similar things so please just suggestions from now on :)
Personally, the genre doesn't really affect rewatch value. The more I like a show, the more likely I am to rewatch it at some point! =)

Absolutely!
I rewatch School Rumble in its entirety every 6 months or so... Call me obsessed ^_^;
I also really enjoyed Clannad, although (even though it has been almost a decade since I watched it) I'm not ready to rewatch After Story ;_;

After reading the Clannad VN, I think Kyou and Tomoya are my favorite characters. Mostly Tomoya though, while he made a lot of mistakes, his growth as a person really got me attached to him hehe.
School Rumble is a romcom about a high school girl who has a crush on her eccentric classmate. Meanwhile, another student (a deliquent) is in love with said girl and it turns into a ridiculous love triangle... Which gets even more complicated as new characters are introduced.
It's actually really funny and it's what got me into romcoms in the first place! =)
I actually don't enjoy shoujo rom coms or rom coms in general because they all feel the same. I know that's a generic opinion and I'm not proud of it. I just can't help but feel that way. I still watched most of the anime in that genre to join the conversation or because people recommend me.
An exception to that imo would be Kamisama Kiss. It's not outstandingly unique, but it really felt refreshing. Now that I think about it, Kamisama Kiss is probably my favorite rom com. besides my rom com snafu. The OVA episodes after season 2 fully concludes the story, so they are a must watch.
Honestly haven't rewatched any of my completed anime so I can't say anything about the rewatch value of romcoms. That said, every anime that I assume are romcoms have been enjoyable to me. My favorite is Nisekoi but I've enjoyed Toradora, Sakurasou, Saekano, To LOVE-Ru, and Gamers.
Romance and comedy both are my top genres so that's probably the reason why I love romcoms. And I'm not sure if Clannad is considered a romcom by the way.

Listed 6 actually (although I forgot I enjoyed Oregairu too) :P
Sakurasou, I remembered liking basically all the characters there although the drama was kinda a hit-or-miss (not bad though). Laughed pretty often throughout watching it and I find the theme of talent, hard work, creativity, and artistry to be inspiring for a hobbyist graphics designer like me. :)
Also had one of the most beautiful and emotional graduation scenes I've seen. And I have a weak heart for graduation scenes.
There's only a few shows that I have re-watched and that's Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, FLCL and some Ghilbi movies.

All three hold a very special nostalgic factor for me as they left an emotional impact during my teenage years. I always enjoy watching them and like if I come across Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim I'll leave it on even after all this time.
To be honest, I enjoyed Toradora when I first watched it when it first came out, but I've never had an interest in rewatching it. I think upon reflection Taiga left a bad taste in my memory. I love Ami , Ryu and Minori, but Taiga's tsundere is just too much for me.
I don't tend to rewatch romcoms much since they feel pretty samey. And when it comes to rewatch value, I tend to focus more on the com rather than the rom. Romance can be more or less the same for each series, but well-executed comedy can keep bringing me back. Like you mentioned, I wouldn't really rewatch Maid-sama, but that would be one anime that I would most likely rewatch among the choices you presented.
If there's one romcom-ish anime that I have definitely been rewatching episodes whenever I'm free, it's Aa! Megami-sama. The romance isn't really heavy, but the comedy of the series is on point, and I love rewatching its episodes for their simplicity.
I might be biased as my favorite genres are literally romance, comedy, and slice-of-life (don't worry I'm branching off into action-y and psychological horror when I can), but I think if you like a show enough, there's definitely a lot of rewatch value.
Drama definitely also adds to rewatch value in my opinion, because who doesn't like tension? Your Lie in April is a great example of this, Clannad too(not sure if it falls under drama or not).
Finally, art styles/plots that appeal to you or are unique definitely give a show rewatch value. For me, I really liked the art styles and plots of YLIA(sorry for using it again but it's really good) and ReLIFE, so I rewatch them from time to time.
A side note would be to read the manga, because some rom-coms just get cut at a random point and leave out a lot of juiciness that can be found in the source(usually manga or LN).
Anyway, that's just my two cents, but compared to most people on here, I don't watch a lot of anime.
I do have a few suggestions, though you probably have already seen most of them. Maid sama is wonderful and I’ve rewatched it a few times and never gotten bored of it, idk if you’ve had a chance to rewatch that one yet. But anyway, here’s a few: Sukitte Ii na yo(say I love you), Kamisama kiss, Inu x Boku SS, Nagi-Asu, Snow White with the Red Hair, Love Chuunibyou & other Delusions, Spice & Wolf, Nisekoi.Yona of the Dawn is very good as well, though there’s not too much romance yet. Also I’m currently watching Kakuriyo which is still airing and it’s quite good, as well as Kobato. Haven’t finished either so can’t tell ya completely, but they are but both are good so far :) sorry for the long list, I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of them but if not I hope u enjoy :)
For me, a rom-com only has rewatch value if the romance got my heart racing the first time around. For stuff like Toradora, I can admit it was well-made as a comedy, but I just didn't enjoy the romance side all that much, so I don't particularly want to rewatch it as the jokes would feel old.
On the other hand, the comedy in Kimi ni Todoke wasn't in my tastes, but the romance made my heart flutter, despite how slowly it developed, so I'd consider rewatching it.
My all-time favourite rom-com, Lovely Complex, feels like it has just the right balance of romance and comedy so that I can enjoy both without one outshining the other. Just depends on your mood and your tastes, I suppose.
