icl i really enjoyed the first 2 episodes about yasukes past and the daimyo etc but then superpowers cyborgs murderous priest it was just lowkey trash i was expecting smthn a bit like vinland saga (one of my favourite anime) but i was really disappointed
Midsuke smh of course the best episode was the one episode focusing on his past, then they dropped the ball moving forward. It had a great Studio being MAPPA, an actual japanese black dude voicing him, flying fucking lotus doing the soundtrack, source material to create a fire story off of alone but they wanted to ruin it by adding a buncha aliens and weird shit. Real unfortunate
if they would have stick with samurai and historical figures it would have been perfect.
I would have accepted some kind of superpowers on a decent level.
The priest was so absolutely unnessecary. did nothing for the story and became irrelevant.
The mecha stuff was also a thing which just made any human participation in the wars ridiculous..
But the most laughable thing was the girl who learned to become the most powerful being within 5 episodes completely by herself..
So yeah, to say it was a letdown is a big exaggeration..
Please disregard any grammar mistakes because this is my notes after watching Yasuke. from my list:
My predisposition on this show were its boring, WTF DOES IT HAS ROBOTS! that sums it up, but watching it; it definitely has boring parts and this is definitely is not better than my other 7's like Cells at work, or like Boruto (the movie) and is far less superior to Afro samurai. this is a 6 level anime; it definitely could have been 7 worthy if they put more work into the world... it felt as though BAM 'MAGIC' BAM! 'ROBOTS'... watching the anime we can see that in various parts of the world there are huge gears and other ruins so understanding that this anime took place after out century and our times it makes sense that once specific group has control of the 'old' technology which is the robots... still don't know if they have AI or a person inside of them. no death was really toughing at all even Yasuke's death was meh... we all knew he was going to be brought back to life my Saki (Saki's Dub voice acting is extremely annoying in my opinion) the only death worthy of mention as an enjoyable death were probably of Abraham (the priest dude) and of the Daimyou (she was also super annoying) but one death that did sorta get me sentimental was of Ishikawa when she called the robot dude her friend then right after died causing him to blow himself up, because without her, his friend life was meaningless. this series could have been amazing if this didn't add all these bells and whistles to appeal to more genre, it would have been sick to see a real historical look even if the story was made up to see the rise of a black samurai... guess we will have to wait a bit. as a last point would like to say that all the episodes (1-5) felt useless because Saki one shot takeout the Daimyou. (music definitely helped the score)
:( the op screamed netflix vibes... I was hoping some good ost in this show but none really stood out to me. And the show, sadly was boring, I'm not at all familiar with yasuke's history, so i thought this show was going to ya know retell his history but i guess not really? I'm lowkey disappoint since i was actually pretty excited before i watched it... :(
