What's an anime you don't even want to start??

I've watched it and while I do enjoy the series to some level, it's definitely not for everyone.

Monogatari is my favorite series and this is MORE than an acceptable answer. I've learned to just love and hate parts of it, but man it's impossible for me to tell anyone this is my favorite series and I understand why. Remember it's ok to love something and still criticize it to hell and back(thumbs up emoji!) That being said, if the worst parts of the anime community deeply disturb you, def stay away. Otherwise, if you can bear with them, Monogatari without the bad stuff really is something special.

The only questionable thing about it is how weird Araragi is with the ehm "younger females" in that case

because according to how it is represented in the story this is a little girl and she kissed an adult boy, i don't care about the fact that it is a beautiful, delicate scene that represents the end of a relationship based on mutual support between a vampire and a spirit who has lost her way home. it is only pedo material and it makes me stop thinking, i start seeing naked children everywhere and it makes uncomfortable.

Yeah. Seeing Arararagi constantly sexually assault -yours truly- was really gross and made me dislike his character constantly. That being said I just got used to it (which is kinda disturbing) and it's my favorite series.

watch it in the summer if you dont have anything to do :)

I had that same exact thought as you but my god I'm on episode 107 and I'm loving the ride. I love all the characters and I highly recommend starting it when you feel like it's time. Don't get me wrong, its def a commitment but its a good one :D

Only if you make it so. You could just watch one season and be done with it. Most anime are incomplete stories anyway.

Same tbh. From the few scenes I have seen, it will most likely not make my least favorite anime. But I will prob have to drop it after a few episodes and I dont want an anime that so many people love in my dropped ones.

I thought the same at first and I agree that watching this might takes some time, however, you don't have to watch all the episodes at once but for me, I found it hard not to binge-watch it. Honestly, after 11 episodes, I saw myself enjoying this and trust me I never thought I'd liked that at all. It's definitely worth it but yeah it depends on people I guess. You have to be patient with Gintama

I don't understand why this deters people from shows. Sure the interaction with the community of the aforementioned show might play a role in enjoyment, but it's not something significant for enjoying the show, or at least it shouldn't be.

Personally, the fanbase didn't really affect my enjoyment of the show. The show itself is by no means incredible, it's honestly not even good (well god, I didn't even like it outside the sports festival arc). However, I think everyone needs to give it a try, just for the first season.

Fair enough. To be honest, I never thought I would watch it either, first few episodes are pretty boring but as I went on (I'm still watching it) It has became a fun show to watch. I don't blame you for saying it's long as at first glance it may seem very long and time consuming, but I recommend to skip fillers and just watch at your own pace and take your time.

but its not just about shogi D:

It's more than just shogi. If you've ever played a sport, competed, anything like that then you will be able to resonate with this show. Plus it's animated by Shaft so you could just check it out for that reason alone.

Just as the others said it's not a show about shogi, it's a story about our protagonist maturing through shogi. The series uses a great mixure of drama and slice of life for its storytelling. Give it a shot, what makes this story so immersing it's the wonderful direction Shaft has given it!!

I'm going to be honest, there's a lot more shogi than people are suggesting here but those parts probably have some of the best moments of animation. It's definitely about way more than shogi though, but I can't say I never got bored. I still think it's worth it though because of the outstanding character writing--the good moments are great :)

Yeah...this was me 6 months ago. I totally get it. One Piece is an experience. Don’t feel intimidated by the length.

I totally get this, but I think a lot of people treat watching it as a race. If you want to watch it, just watch arc per arc and take breaks after that. Or whatever pace you want. I actually regret watching it as quickly as I did because now I have to wait for new episodes :(

Damn , here is me I caught up with it in around a month's time (tbh I lost count of how fast days went by) and then when I come back to school people are like don't watch One Piece it is so long , it'll take years to catch up . I was like "what it takes that long? but I watched it in around a month lol" .It's one of my most favourite anime rn .

I only watched Jojo to be able to meme about it, but then ended up liking some of it. So I can say I already liked the community before watching it, I would not watch so many episodes of a shounen otherwise

For what it's worth, I think season 2 is much better than season 1 and I haven't even finished it yet. Then again, I've become a huge fan of Re:Zero, so my word is quite biased.

Felt this. I despised s1, but out of extreme boredom ended up watching s2 and it ended up being a million times better imo. I feel like there was actual character development and interesting plot points instead of whatever the fuck s1 was

I kinda liked s1 (a few parts of it) but after s2 part1 I dont think I am ever coming back. I am missing almost every part I liked in s1, including the only character that made the show enjoyable. Tbh I have grown out of simping for Rem so I doubt I would like s2 even if she was there

I didn't like season 1 either. However, much like @Trunzilla said, apparently season 2 is amazing so I am willing to give it a shot! :D

One Piece is amazing! I spent 50 days on it myself and it was my first anime! I love it loads and if you love shounen and adventure and comedy, YOU WILL LOVE ONE PIECE. But only watch it when you feel like it, all I as is that you give it a try.

I just watched the original series and then the End of Evangelion movie. The movie replaces the last two episodes of the series. Worth a watch for sure, in my opinion.

Evangelion wasn't as good as I hoped it would be and I regret watching it, so I don't blame you in the slightest. "Clear cut" is the last thing I'd use to describe it.

You could just watch the movie remakes. The story is somewhat different from the original show, but they are still good.

I debated on starting the Fate series for a while because of how much of an investment it was. I finally watched it and it has easily become one of my favorite series. In my opinion, the animation, the characters, the music, just everything about it is enjoyable.

I highly recommend you watch it whenever you have the time. :)

Also, there is so much discussion about what order to watch. This is the order that I watched:

Read the manga for Bleach, it's more enjoyable and makes me forget how long it is. The art is really great and the anime downgraded it. There's also less censorship

the anime didn't end at the end of the complete manga (obviously). BUT it still felt like a satisfying ending.

Whichever arc you stop on it's a good place to stop. The author did a great job with the fluidity. It would be great to have more but not the end of the world otherwise.

The anime really is self contained in a sense that it won't encourage you to read the manga, it has a satisfying ending.

I ended up watching that. I was thinking of dropping it since the early episodes but I kept on pushing to at least see Chimera Ant. Then I was so far that dropping it seemed weird so I ended up watching all of it. After that experience, I at least learned my lesson and drop most anime I don't like in the first 3 eps. I just hated the idea of dropping something as 'good' as HxH, even if I wasn't really enjoying it. To be honest, it wasnt that bad, just very long. That's why I didnt rank it among my lowest rated anime, despite tiring me more than some of them
