What did you think of the episode?
holy shit they have no right making this anime so goddamn good! The sound design has been incredible throughout, and I personally think this has some of the best animation of the season. great episode, cant wait to see what goes on outside of district 86.
ps: that after-credits scene was really nice.
I'm not a LN reader, but from some other comments I saw, it sounds as if Lena running after the squadron was anime-original? It felt very overdramatised and I think their parting would have felt more genuine without it.
Yeah, I found it weird. I wondered where the heck is she running, it didn't make sense. A weird response at least to me.
She was running to maintain connection with them for as long as possible
this is just a quick note about the ln's
so there's this cloud fog shit that blocks all radio waves, which makes comunication with squads and such out on the battlefield impossible. which is what caused the Para-raids to exist, while they can't resist the blockage of all the cloud fog nanomachine scrambler shit, they do manage to have communication throughout all the land that's listed on the map
My overall feelings about this anime is that it is mediocre. But what can I say, this anime excels at is being good in emotional scenes. This episode moved me somehow, even if I did not think that previous episodes were especially good. I feel deep compassion for 86 and it hurts me a lot when I see discrimination and indifference from people safe in towns. It confuses me a lot, how these people can be so blind and dull. I wonder what the final results will be at the end of the season.
and that's volume 1 bois, now the question to ask is "how they gonna start volume 2?"
they gonna go chronological? gonna focus on how the ending of this episode impacts Lena?
In the last episode of this cour i kinda wanna see more Lena stuff tbh
(volume 2 chapter 1 spoiler below)
or they gonna start with Shin as part of the Federacy running around the battlefield in the Reinleigf?
A very awesome episode. I like all the emotional reaction I seen from Shin this episode. He really love his brother a lot,and he has been so cool this whole episode with his emotional reaction and his personality. Shin is a great character,he only show extreme emotion in rare situation, but he is mostly calm and collected in normal situation or normal dire situation, showing
a combination of emotionless emotion most of the time and a rare sight of extreme emotion from him in rare situations.I love Shin he is awesome. The fight scenes were great and I laugh my ass off when I saw Raiden reaction too seeing Lena suddenly showing up,and helping him and the others.
Anju,Raiden and others did pretty well holding their own against the Legion despite being severly outnumber and outgun, but Lena basically guarantee their survival with her brilliant plan, but overally, everyone did well.
Shin and the others are going outside the 86 district, and leaving 86 district for good,of course because this is clearly a suicide mission that republic set up for them to die,so they can t really return anyway because they get executed if they comeback because they are meant to die here at this mission,at least thats what republic want it to happen.
I am sad too see Lena cry. She is very nice person while she is nice, but she isn t stupid good, hence one of the many reasons why I like her a lot.
I am enjoying this series a lot. 10 out of 10 for this episode.
I already know where Shin and the others are going. Omoshiroi
The plot is going to get better from here, but its too bad,86 part 1 is going to end soon. I have to do more waiting :(

She was running cause it will be the last time they can talk to each other and maintain the signal a little bit longer, yeah very sad

I'm pretty sure they weren't going to end their lives
they said they were going to go beyond the 86 boundary and explore- go as far as they can go

If I remember correctly, in the previous episodes, it was mentioned that their squad was an execution ground. Last episode, she found a bunch of briefing documents which hint towards all the previous Spearheads having the same order as their last assigment, that being to go as deep into enemy territory as possible so their death is certain. I'm certain that's what it is.
Edit: just better grammar.
