Pardon me, I haven't watched it yet, I'll just create a discussion thread in advance.
What did you think of the episode?
Edit: I see a competitor, btw the same Author.
AhoGirl
After the last rom-com with disappointment and
Osamake Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Wont Lose
After watching this,
better than a Rent a girlfriend.
Question to everyone who's read the manga, how's the adaption so far?
I'm a little disappointed. I really enjoyed the chapters of the manga that I've read (I'm not caught up). The manga was super bombastic, and written more like a slapstick comedy than a rom com. Any drama was really overshadowed by the ridiculous characters and scenarios, and that's what made it so enjoyable.
The anime - so far - I feel has messed with the pacing of these events. Admitedly that comes from my reading speed, but I think this material is best done at a (relatively) breakneck pace with a bombastic flare. Think Kaguya-sama or even Aho-girl. This adaptation, however, feels slow and forced and almost completely loses the bombastic nature that I felt was so important. The music choices feel off, the cliché sad music and whatnot just doesn't feel right. Also, what's up with the puppy noises. It feel's like I'm being told what to feel.
For the voice acting, I always interpreted the characters as practically always yelling, kinda like Iida from My Hero Academia. While I think the anime does an okay job at this, I definitely think it could do better.
Tl;dr - I think the anime is treating this too much like a dramatic romcom when it should be more of an off-the-wall slapstick comedy.
good episode
What is wrong with you Super Mario...
Imagine being this triggered over a purposefully silly but still novel romcom with good production, nice art and voice acting.
Imagine defending Kanojo mo Kanojo. Doesn't matter it it has good acting or nice art. It's not what makes good an Anime and you should know this very well but of course the average anime fan is gonna overlook the shit story (purposefully shit) and anything else. You can enjoy this Anime, I really don't care, but it still doesn't change the fact that the world would be a better place without it. Also, I was joking before, couldn't u tell by me saying it to "Super Mario"? Seems like you are the one triggered here
calm down lol, it's just an anime. if you dislike it so thoroughly then just stop watching it. but wow, imagine unironically saying "the world would be a better place without it" when referring to a anime lolz. someone takes things too seriously.
honestly the best part is that you're going around this thread effectively trying to convince people that the show is bad. that's just sad. let people enjoy what they want to instead of incessantly complaining to everyone that enjoys it.
You don't get to decide what makes an anime good. Your opinion is not worth more than anyone else's. Story is only a part of an anime and episodic slice-of-life romcoms lay more emphasis on the characters themselves, gags and their timing. By virtue of their nature and lack of a monomyth, these are more important than developing the linear narrative structure. If the story was the only important part, people would read Brandon Sanderson books instead of watching anime. What Barusu said is absolutely corrrect and that puerile display was what prompted this reply.
I completely agree. Sure, they can have this opinion, but that doesn't mean it can't be wrong. For instance, there are billions of people on this planet. If even one of them enjoys this art, then they cannot say the world would be a better place without it.
Such a terrible, and unthoughtful thing to say, really.
Having a romcom anime in which the only personality of the main protagonist is having a girlfriend (or more at this point) and the other girls being reasonable at the start but then immediately dropping their whole IQ for weird reasons and the whole show centering on stupid and usual japanese jokes about people being perverted or kawaii reminds me of how much fucked up a lot of members of the anime community are for being a fan of this (if they are) but of course anyone can enjoy what they want but I will do my part when I tell others to avoid this. And you are right, I am no one to say that an anime is bad or good... but there are certain levels of indecency that I never saw until now if not with this show. But again you can enjoy it...
the world would be a better place without it
hyperbolic, much?
Think about it. Did the world get better after Girlfriend, Girlfriend aired? No, so my statement is correct in a certain way... exaggerated but correct kek
I imagine I feel like Saki right now: too many emotions brought upon by MC's ridiculous nature
I didn't dislike the episode, but I also don't like MC's outrageous ideals, yet he's also not the kind to do what he's doing maliciously since he's a bit too dense and naive, and he was honest enough to just outright ask for permission to cheat, and Nagisa is also ok with the idea so I can't exactly hate it either, and Saki also seems to have a good setup because of it, and Naoya seems "kind" enough to not want to do it with only one girl at a time, so I guess there's a degree of comfort in that, and now somehow I'm being won over by his stupidity and Nagisa's kindness, so now I guess I'll just have to keep watching because somehow the absurdities have gone full circle to the point of being sensible
i enjoyed this watch. it's not the type of anime where you have to overanalyze every little thing, and they get straight into the plot in the first ep. pure comedy so far, seems like something i'd sit and binge in my free time if it already finished airing. i get dislike of this type of plot, but it's not made for everyone so i suppose different opinions will be tossed around about it. very nice!
This anime is dog shit. I can't even possibly conceive someone saying it is any good. HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT. I don't care the author wanted it to be like that; it's bad in any sense and also so fucking stupid. I am so fucking disappointed, i thought it was gonna be a good seasonal but now that I think about it it made sense that they showed us no trailer involving actual scenes from the anime because then it would have attracted less people.
My suggestion is to avoid this trash anime and watch things like Vanitas no Carte instead.
Ugh I am so frustrated
my brother walked in on me during the bath scene but I successfully utilized minimize browser no jutsu to save myself
overall, decent start, didn't read the manga, uh what I can say is between Saki and Nagisa, I actually am conflicted on who to root for: on one hand, Saki's VA is Yotsuba Nakano's VA (Ayane Sakura) and since Yotsuba is my favorite quint + Saki has the Ice Trae Young jumpshot, I was tempted to pick her. However, the other girl is LITERALLY named Nagisa Minase. She's named after two Key heroines (Nagisa Furukawa and Nayuki Minase), so its hard for me to pick a favorite girl.
Just from this 1 episode alone and I could tell this show is stupid and I love it. I seriously couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity of all and at the same time I'm honestly kind of enjoying all this. I'll definitely keep watching to see how far they'll take this.
Also, the voice acting is just amazing, especially Ayane Sakura and Junya Enoki
P.S. "Better than Rent-A-Girlfriend"? Somehow I doubt that.
What I Expected From The Synopsis:
Asshole MC who cheats on his girlfriends because he's a spineless whimp.
What I Actually Got:
Somehow a very honest and kind of wholesome portrayal of people trying to figure out polyamory.
I'm pretty sure it's accidental. I don't expect that polyamory will actually be portrayed positively here, because it can only work if everyone is 100% on board with it and not just kinda putting up with it so they can date someone.
BUT accident or not, I actually kinda like Naoya so far. He's a very honest idiot (lol)
This is not how polyamory works dude. You do NOT just decide to be polyamorous after meeting someone you think is hot, and it's a true scumbag move to pressure your significant other into accepting that kind of a change to the relationship just for you. It doesn't matter if you're being honest, it's completely unfair to put that on someone no matter what methods you're using to ask for permission.
Open relationships (and this only even seems open on one side let's be real) are something you start with, not something you try to convert to later out of the blue. When that happens in reality, it never works out well because the only respondents that don't dump someone trying to change the terms that way are in an irrevocably imbalanced relationship.
Edit: Wow. I was ready to make a nice, very concise reply to the reply, but this person blocked me. Pretty scummy thing to do IMO, but it's nice to have a fuller picture of the kind of person I thought I was replying to and add that to the interpretation of their words.
I am well aware of how they work, considering that I am polyamorous myself. I didn't say it was a realistic depiction of one, just that it was attempting it. Even just the attempt is something that I greatly appreciate because I never see it, in anime or elsewhere.
The reason I said it seemed honest and wholesome is that Naoya seems like the kind of person who is just starting to figure out that he may be poly. I would never expect a teenager to understand the nuances of that kind of relationship from the get go, and neither should you.
I don't expect it to be great, I'm just glad to see it at all. No need to lecture me and take an anime that seriously.
if i may...
saki is the dumbest fucking idiot i have seen in a long fucking time. how can she be so against the whole thing after literally saying herself that she wanted to fkn date her. this fool could be getting it on with the both of them but she ends up with the dumbest dumbfuck stubborn bullshitery. i would fkn kill to be in her shoes, like, wtf is that not but a perfect situation she's in and she can fkn see it but wont take it AAAAAAAAAAAAAD;BS;VSI;HVIHBPASDVIBD;HASDJ;BVASD;JBVB
