Episode 1. Great animation, great art direction, great music. Looks promising. BOOM, psychedelic rape scene. Just why? Did they expect the viewer to go "damn that's a really well animated and directed segment" while watching that scene? So yeah, just wanted to know if there are going to be more of those cause next time I'll be sure to tell myself that the liquid flying on the screen is not blood but the rapists' body fluids as they enjoy doing the deed, cause ofcourse it is.
Btw, I'll be fine if these scenes are adapted like it is in say goblin slayer; dark and grim, as it should be. But if they blast the screen with colours and classical music then I'm out. It's not even dark, it's just outright sociopathic.
Edit: totally forgot to talk about the POV rape bit at the very end. Brilliant story-boarding isn't it?
I don't think there'll be more of those, it was just to make you understand how fucked up things are and apparently it served its purpose since many people are talking about this. I also hate watching rape scenes, but at the end of the day it's fiction and just an element of the show to help you understand the overall situation.
I don't really have any issues with rape scenes as long as they are done "correctly". Rape is a very sensitive subject. It's just the way it was adapted here that was particularly fucked up. I went ahead and read the manga for this segment too, and while it is more graphic it did not feel out of place. They could have easily done something similar for the show with more censorship, but they chose to make it...a visual spectacle? I don't even understand what the goal was.
the thing is, it was portrayed in the pov from the rapist, it was made as a "fun" thing, because they were having fun raping her, and as you see it, you think "how the fuck is that fun?" and just makes the scene gross, that was intentional, this is the same thing as putting classic music in a warfare.
The author wanted to show that this is a fucked up world, where rape is portrayed as something fun and spectacular (from the perspective of the soldiers).
I have my problem as well with rape scenes, because I'm very sensitive when it comes to this topic. But I think this scene was important to give this show this different tone. Even though I disliked seeing it.
You know Animes are just adaptions of manga dont you?
Atleast do your research before you try and belittle others. The scene in the manga did not feel out of place. It was drawn as a fucked up scene, as it should be. That's all. In the anime they stylised rape in a very wrong way.
I haven’t watched the show yet but when I skimmed the manga their is a character called Miku who specializes at holding raped girls hostage and teasing them about being raped so I wouldn’t be surprised if more parts like that show up in the future
@Hunkymunky5 This thread has spoilers in the title and he asked a question so I just answered it. Maybe you shouldn’t read a spoiler thread if you didn’t want the answer to the question he was asking
