I have been wondering if Re: Zero is worth watching.
It sways in quality. I'd say the first half of season one is good and the first half of season two is fantastic. The second half of season two, however, I found boring and dull. The Whale arc isn't great either.
this is the exact opposite of my own opinion on season 2 lmao, that whole first part had me bored out of my mind
Focusing on Subaru in the first half is what made it so enjoyable for me, as he is the most fascinating aspect of the series. The second half's overuse of flashbacks was painfully dull and hard to sit through.
yeah i agree subaru's the only character i really like from it but the whole first season was good then it felt kind of repetitive
I don't mind the receptiveness, since that is a cornerstone of the series (Subaru keeps dying and must find a way to stop it). As long as they keep it interesting, then there is no problem. This is exactly why the second half of season 2 was so boring, since it left that story to focus on flashbacks for other characters.
@nilzennathalie just stop reading all these different opinions which will only confuse you and just start it now and decide for yourself
@nilzennathalie
Based on what you have watched I would say you'll enjoy it. The show lives and dies on whether you like the characters. I hate all of them so it isn't my thing, but that's just my personal opinion.
Depends if you like watching people suffer.
Honestly, that show was nothing but stress to watch and I hated every second of it.
wait wait wait you though re:zero was stressful...but you loved happy sugar life? weird huh...
Happy sugar life alternates between the "sweet" moments and the "bitter" moments. Rezero is just "here watch these characters get brutally murdered, SIKE lets undo that and make you watch it again but in a different way".
When I finished happy sugar life, not only was it actually interesting, it felt like something actually changed. Unlike rezero where the end of s1 doesn't feel any damn different to the end of episode 2 except now ive been made to sit thorugh people suffering for no reason.
Watching subaru die in infinite creative ways with actual character development is way more interesting than having a whole set of mentally fucked up characters for no reason. Also, nothing actually changed in happy sugar life, she could kill, marry that kid (which is also fucked up) and move away from the apartment since episode 1. What changed?
I did not want to start a discussion about that show, but it's weird because happy sugar life doesn't have an actual enjoyable story nor enjoyable characters at all.
You know, my favourite trash take on Re:Zero is when people watch Gigguk's video and make it into an actual unironic review / criticism against Re:Zero.
Like if you genuinely think the anime is only about Subaru suffering for no reason then I genuinely believe you've only watched Gigguk's abridged video and a death compilation and haven't actually watched the anime.
Didn't even know Gigguk did a video on it, why would I watch a video on an anime i hated lol
I was making fun of your take, it's essentially that.
really, if you think Re:Zero is just about suffering then you missed the whole point.
Honestly after talking with someone that reads the light novel the show took a dive in my ratings, a very hard one based on purely being a bad adaptation.
For instance here is something really, absurdly important that's shown very early on in the light novels and NEVER shown in the anime:
The main character is NOT the only human that has been isekai'd
