I want to watch something that keeps your interest till the end.
Sir, with all due respect, there is no way Darling in the Franxx is a 9 and SNAFU is a 6.
Sincerely yours.
(Just making fun cause you do reviews.)
It...is...what...it..is.
If it helps, I binged
KONOSUBA Gods blessing on this wonderful world

Clannad
Welcome to the NHK
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
clannad was kinda boring ngl, i mean i can see it being engaging to people who like SOL stuff with no meaning, but i don't think it's something that can be engaging to people universally, especially with the artstyle
the only interesting aspect about clannad was the serious parts, but those were mainly in after story, although there were a few in clannad
I agree. For me, the humor, backstories, alternate world, moe was really disappointing. I especially disliked the Kotomine arc. That said, for some reason I felt that every episode ended on a slight cliffhanger that motivated me to watch the next one. It was a very weird feeling, and one which I have not felt in any other anime so far.
@flathanekawa even I love Oregairu but others have their own opinions and interests
Excuse my response. I regret trying to insult this guy--it's like making fun of a child--but you asked for my attention.
I accept that people have different interests. However, the philosophical ideas put forward in Oregairu about romance, integration into society, perseverance, etc. are universal, common to all human beings, and the show is entirely made up of them.
I do understand that anime as a genre lacks subtlety, deepness, maturity--therefore it is geared towards 10-25 year-olds. If we follow the extreme case, I'm not going to watch the Teletubbies at my age, so why should a mature old person bother himself/herself with anime?
However, Darling in the Franxx has moments which are objectively bad, i.e., the director fails at the fundamentals: the world doesn't make any sense, the action is bad, there are plot holes, etc.
I'll admit that otherwise Darling in the Franxx isn't that bad. Indeed, I have a feeling that it is a target of undeserved hate. Although it is shallow, I welcome the concept and discussion of a dystopian society perceived by a vibrant teenage group.
'objectively bad'
XDDD
Darling in the Franxx is objectively bad because it fails to provide a cohesive and focused narrative. It contradicts itself and can't answer basic questions about the premise. Let's look at the first episode.
The overarching theme of the first episode is that male and female must fly together otherwise they have no purpose in life and risk death. This idea shows up multiple times in this episode: first, bird species discussed in the very beginning must have both male and female to fly; second, we learn that the Franxx must be piloted by male and female; third, Zero Two asks Hiro to fly with her.
The part of the message about purposeless life and following death is also supported by the episode: first, Hiro sees a bird crash into the planetarium and there is blood; second, Hiro and Naomi are kicked out of the program and lose their purpose (taken from the orphanage and probably killed); third, Zero Two pilots the Franxx alone and she is shown bloody.
These thoughts are obviously very shallow and trivial, but that wouldn't prove Darling in the Franxx is objectively bad. What does prove objectively bad is messages that slightly contradict each other. Metaphorically, the author has built a nice elaborate house with the overarching theme, but the foundation is made out of cardboard and it is about to come crashing down.
Let's follow the scene when Hiro and Naomi scream at each other.
A story must be cohesive, like a well-written essay. This first episode isn't well-written at all. Let me provide an outline.
Hiro wants to fly.
Not only is this dumb but also messy. And I can also add that the action part of this episode is really random. None of it is explained. Why are they attacking? How? Even if this stuff is explained later, it's just random now, and serves no purpose. It's not even cool.
Other nitpicks:
In sum, the first episode of Darling in the Franxx presents a poorly written (not to mention, shallow) outline whose supporting pillars are riddled with contradictions. In other words, the world, game, rules, and characters just don't make sense, undermining even the most basic and unsophisticated messages presented.
I hope this is palatable. I may have gotten mixed up in the middle.
