Well, yeah, I'm looking for anime with a similar politics theme just as How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
When looking through animes with the tag Politics, there is a lot of stuff popping up like
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Naruto Shippuden
Howls Moving Castle
Sure, they have something to do with politcs, but they aren't what I'm looking for.
Hoping someone can help.
I can't tell for sure as I have not watching this releasing anime you are talking about, but if you want diplomacy, war strategy, and I guess politics, you will enjoy this anime which I consider a hidden gem from its year:
Shoukoku no Altair
Okay I haven't watched
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
so I don't know if the stuff I'm about to recommend is like it. However, it seems you haven't watched a lot of politics heavy shows, so I'll just recommend the ones I like the most.
Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
^In this anime the protagonist Lelouch leads a rebellion against an empire who rules 1/3 of the world. Lelouch is a strategic genius and tactical mastermind. The story gives some thought to the decision making and purpose behind the battles (strategy), but most of its focus are on the tactics used in the battle itself (tactics). It also has a strong focus on different ideologies and political systems.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes
^This one starts as a dual protagonist setup: one in the representative democracy of the Free Planets Alliance and one in the German inspired Galactic Empire, but by the end we have seen many different characters take the protagonist role, and with it many different styles of commanders. The show explores the ideological differences and the state of perpetual war between the two sides, letting the audience decide who to support. This show is slow, but it has to be. It takes the time to go over every consequence of every action taken by every character. It also can have a full episode of just character debating how they should handle a complicated situation, bouncing ideas around and trying to find one that works. We see not just the plans in action, but also the decision making process behind them. It's unapologetic on what it is about: politics and war, and can be slow and even dry at times. It also takes the time to discuss not just how to win the battle, but also where and when to fight the battle, or if the battle should even be fought. If you want a story about war and politics, this is the best and most pure example of that.
On the topic of the remake x the original: I've heard the remake is faster paced and skips over some of the details I've mentioned, if that's truly the case I'd strongly recommend the original if you like this kind of stuff.
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
^A cyberpunk detective mystery with strong political elements and feels surprisingly grounded in our reality. The mystery aspect feels like a real political corruption scandal where it seems everyone is involved somehow.
Magi The Labyrinth of Magic Magi The Kingdom of Magic
^How much this shonen adventure focuses on politics varies from arc to arc, with the best arcs being the ones that focus more on these elements. That being said, when it decides to focus on politics and ideology it does an amazing job at it. It doesn't just ask questions like "What is better: a benevolent dictator or a corrupt democracy?", it shows the actual consequences of each system in the material well being of the people and leaves the characters and the audience to decide, sometimes splitting the protagonists and letting the audience decide who they think is right.
Moriarty the Patriot Moriarty the Patriot Part 2
^Some people have described it as "Eat the rich, the anime". I have some issues with the protagonist's ideology and the fact that it focuses too much on the aristocracy, when even at the time it would've made more sense to focus on the growing industrial elite as the ruling class, but the fact that I can debate his ideology shows that this anime does enough right to make me consider its world view.
I took the liberty of going through your list on top of accounting your suggestions.
Death Note
AKIRA
Hotaru no Haka
Mousou Dairinin
Memories
(2nd Film, Stink Bomb and the 3rd film, Cannon Fodder...tbh watch all)
Ouritsu Uchuugun Honneamise no Tsubasa
Shin Seiki Evangelion
Tbh, nearly all of Anime has politics into it to extents, but if you want something truly politically and philosophically charged, similar to that of which you've listed, I'd check these
Also if anyone is seeing this...can you teach me how to link the animes how others have done above. I'm a buffoon.
put the url for the webpage of the series. for example,
https ://anilist.co/anime/108388/High-School-Prodigies-Have-It-Easy-Even-In-Another-World
without the space results in this
High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World
Choujin Koukouseitachi wa Isekai demo Yoyuu de Ikinuku you desu
This is pretty much the same isekai approach as genjitsu shugi. It may not have as much focus on the politics but it still features a medieval isekai being converted into a modern-like society trough a few individuals so I guess it should still be up your liking. :)
I second
Choujin Koukouseitachi wa Isekai demo Yoyuu de Ikinuku you desu
and
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha
That are to me the closest in context and feeling,
and I would add:
Ookami to Koushinryou
Ookami to Koushinryou II
If you like the more economical (monetary) aspect of trading in a feudal atmosphere.
And
Honzuki no Gekokujou Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen
Honzuki no Gekokujou Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2
For how great it is, and the Isekai Aspect that feels similarly like a sandbox. It is also more focused on the monetary/crafting/trading aspect with a good amount of social ladder climbing theme.
Not politics but if you're into that kind of management thing this is great
Amagi Brilliant Park
It's also really funny
I don't know any anime with a politics theme, but if ever you're interested in any manga. Then here you go:
The World is Money and Power
Pyramid Game
Grancrest Senki
IMO this one by far is the most similar. Strategy, war tactics, politics, romance, and fantasy in a medieval setting.
