Am I the only one that don't like Kagura, Otae, Tsukuyo, Sacchan, Kyuubei...
The common trait is most of them is that they are violent...
Kagura
I know that she is a child at 14 but still, but she acts like a 7 year old. She is like in her own little world always wanting to do things her way, looking for trouble and so own...and she hits all the people she sees even when its not needed, like there is no ounce of respect coming from her towards those older than her, she thinks she better attitude. You know the amount of trouble she cause and yet have the nerve to expect a pay. find Katsura even more likeable even though he is an idiot at least he don't go around hitting people.
Otae
Don't get me started on her...she is my most dislike character in the whole of Gintama. From her first appearance I thought she was a one time thing, I didn't expect her to be such an annoying character. The type that is bossy, violent towards others (especially guys), only can hit the main character but when comes to real shit can't do no damn thing, only giving out emotional talk...like I rather hear Gintoki preach than her, his is like a gazillion times better. Also the type that only listen to things she wanna hear., and if you don't listen, she hits you. I mean she is 18 and yet she can get away hitting others like those older cause what she is a women. She even does that at her work, like if you don't like it get another job. I wanna see a day when someone smack her in her face. Like she hits Gintoki and expect Gintoki to comes to her rescue and shit. She is what I call all bark but no bite. One more thing, bitch can't cook at all, even the cooking class gave up on her. This shows that she is someone that does not listen cause she does not improve at all. Personally for me, some of my favourite arcs were ruined cause she appeared in it even if she was not the focus of it, I don't get why they include her, for what purpose, to hit the MC.
Tsukoyo
At first I like her cause I thought she be the cool type that everyone looks up to. Then her alcohol tolerance shows us that she becomes violent throwing Gintoki like a ragdoll. Like this is a third female, character that has a similar trait. Like I don't see the guys hitting the girls with kunai. This is want ruin it for me the from a cool collective person to a violent tsundere that likes Gintoki as well.
I just don't understand why violence is a characteristic that is always added to these female characters. You don't see the "good" guys hitting the ladies so why the exception. I need a Kazuma character to drop kick these bunch of violent ladies. And for an anime targeted towards the male audiences, there is just too many dicks, you don't see any naked girl do you.
for me at least they have personality and some writing, and i would rather take violent female gorillas over fanservice females especially in this kind of series where it is mainly comedy with several serious instances of action and drama, even though i will admit there were few instances where i was a bit irked by their shenanigans. So i can definitely understand you being pissed at them for being too violent.
Dude, first off. This is a shonen manga. So expect there to be more men than women (though this is just the observation of most of the shonen stuff ive read / watched but i can definitely stand firm with my view) but that doesnt mean women would be downplayed in their respective manga.
Second, this is gintama bro. Its a manga well known for being off beat with its comedy but having a nice balance with good drama and action arcs. Its Sorachi's design choice and decision to make the girl characters like Kagura, Otae etc be violent or wacky. To me, it adds life into their characters. Not just being damsels in distress who needs saving. Kagura is destructive as its explained she came from a violent race. Otae is like the typical strong-ass but also elegant lady trope we see in animanga tons of times. As for tsukuyo i cant remember cause its been years since i read gintama.
Thing is, you gotta remember this is a battle comedy shonen manga which fits the time it came out. Hell, i read this in mid 2010s and i still loved it. It was hilarious. If you still dislike the ladies and ignore the times they shine, they you should stop reading i guess. Go on and watch your ecchi anime
You have no idea what the word shonen means lol
Gintama is most definitely shonen. Please do enlighten me the shonens out there where women outnumber the men. Dont kid yourself. Shonen is aimed towards young boys (though not exclusively) and there's definitely gonna be a lot of themes of beat downs and tournaments and whatever. Again like i stated before.. im not saying women should not be given a spotlight in this genre.
Almost any shounen harem is likely to have a lot more female characters than male characters, as an example of a type of shounen where women outnumber the men
A fair point but im talking shonen in general. I know stuff like Mahou Sensei Negima are such an example of shonen harem (and i do wish to read that manga again, its been ages!)
Lol, so what’s next ? A seinen harem? That doesn’t make sense. Drop the shonen part, it’s just harem bro lol.
Like I don't see the guys hitting the girls with kunai.
I wanna see a day when someone smack her in her face.
At the risk of sounding snide, it seems like you just really want the female characters in this show to get beaten up. By the way, there are plenty of times throughout the franchise where the female characters act like idiots, get beaten up, or make asses of themselves for comedic effect.
there is just too many dicks, you don't see any naked girl do you.
Oh no, how terrible.
From his view it seems to me like the dude took the show way too seriously. That type of hate for anime characters seems whacky imo. I just finished season 3 and I haven't seen Kagura fight when it wasn't necessary. The female characters mostly get a little violent when it's with the friendly characters (and with no malicious intent) or when someone just straight up crosses a line
Japanese comedy is heavily based around slapstick, the violence is supposed to be comedic you're not supposed to treat it as if it's real violence. It's no different from watching an old cartoon and seeing someone get a piano dropped on their head, you're not supposed to act as if that happened to an actual person. Did people these days forget to separate fiction from reality or something?
