Can you recommend me an anime that you personally consider a "must-watch"? I'm looking for something interesting and original, something that got stuck in your head for a while. I don't really care about graphics, style, genre etc. It can be a +18 production as well.
For me it's "Aku no Hana" and "Mononoke". Both of those titles are strangely soothing to me.
SteinsGate
Best sci-fi thriller
I don't reccomend this often, so let me recommend it
It got a very unique animation and VERY good direction, for real one of the best anime directors ever imo. It's psychological so there is much to think about later. You encounter 2 MCs, both play ping-pong. One is liking ping pong very much, second just likes playing video games, but got a talent for ping pong better than the first. We also get some nice side characters which get good character development as well and are rememberable, so you won't forget them for a long time after completing.
I binged it in one day and it was stuck in my day for some time, because at the end, every character found their way of living and they liked it, so I thought of which way is more suited for me. I definitely recommend as "something that got stuck in your head for a while".
Ping Pong THE ANIMATION
Samurai Champloo hands down. One of the song producers is the "Godfather of Lofi," himself Nujabes. This isn't your traditional anime. It has an incredible storyline, with the fusion of lofi. It may seem weird to have Lofi in an anime, but it pairs so well with the anime. The music has all of this emotion in them, without a single word in them. Every episode/scene also has a deeper meaning to them. This is the only anime I've ever watched that made me feel some type of way after.
Also on a side note, this is my favorite scene from the show. It doesn't spoil anything pertaining to the story, but it's a funny side piece that I laughed at and did not expect. Watch at your own risk (:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dKOFWFdNT0
P.S. I whole heartedly recommend the dub if you were to watch this. I may a be a bit biased since Steve Blum (VA for Spike in Cowboy Bebop) voice acts for one of the main characters, but the VAs for the characters fit their role so well. They help to bring out the life of their character.
Satoshi Kon's works may be what you are looking for
Dorohedoro
for sure!!!! it's like drinking acid, and enjoying it
