Okay so I did not find this funny, the comedy didn't appeal for me at all, and it became boring after 10 minutes. I was about to drop it but I will give it a chance and watch the next episode because of the opening, which was kind of good..?
As a manga reader, this was a bit disappointing. The manga is so much funnier with a way more fitting art style imo. I don't think this first episode was bad, in fact it was pretty good, just disappointing compared to the manga. Actually, I think this would've worked way better as a TV short rather than a full-length show. Isn't it kind of silly to show multiple days of her commuting to school in the same episode, when it's basically the same thing...? That felt kind of weird to me.
Maybe I should've expected this with Diomedea doing it, how many times it was delayed because of production issues, and especially how Beatless (by the same studio) turned out last season. Although the soundtrack and opening are great.
@ScarletFairy I felt the same way. I expected it to be more like Hinamatsuri - super intense and over-exaggerated, whereas it was just kind of portrayed as a girl going to school in a half-cutesy, half-awkward way. It felt more like a weirder version of the usual cute girl/moe shows or something.
I hope the remaining episodes adapt the reaction faces better, and we still have kabaddi girl and Andou (best boy) to pop up.
it doesn't make you laugh until you cry like nichijou but it's quiet funny it's not really good or bad it's stays in the middle it made me laugh a lot and sometimes even if i knew the end of a "joke" i still laughed because some stuff happened to me irl like the part when she went on the houses like in assassin's creed it deserves a 7
I guess this sort of anime comes down to taste and the type of shows you enjoy. I thought it was cute and funny, but it definitely has some room to improve. I haven't read the manga, so I don't really have anything to compare it with though. The show felt a bit empty and dry with just Chio being focused on, but I can imagine more characters will be introduced later. This is only the first episode after all. The comedy is a type I enjoy, despite how embarrassing it can be. I'm definitely more into the cuteness and the overall laid back vibe of the show.
Although it wasn't really 'laugh out loud' funny, this episode was pretty amusing and made me want to watch at least a few more episodes. I really liked the Assassin's Creed references, and I'm slightly concerned by how much I can relate to Chio...
I did find the amount of random, gravity-defying boob jiggling in the episode kind of odd though, doesn't really seem like the genre for it.
