hmm... I hope we'll get a continuation. At least some kind of afterstory.
WOW what a ride it has been. I love the ending for squad 13, that was just amazing. But I am so conflicted about Hiro and Zero Two, on one hand it was okay how they did it, but I had hoped that they came back to earth and meet their friends again. In the end it was a great anime. Maybe we wil get a highschool spinoff, who knows.
I loved it! Left me nothing but satisfaction. I was a bit sad about ep 23, and about how they made the design of the True Apus, and ep 24 felt a bit rushed at some points, but hey... they only had 20 minutes.
And do I have to express my love for "This is what happend x years later" stories? I don't even feel the need to have a S2 or some other sort of sequel, because of how well it ended, and I feel like they really developed the characters well, and with a lot of thought. Also takes the question away about if Hiro and Zero Two will ever find each other again, as I feel that the ending strongly marks that.
Overall a 10/10 anime, but on my list it still didn't reach a 100/100, as I feel they did rush the story at some points. Also, the soundtrack, opening and the endings, that are like the best endings I've ever heard. Probs to Trigger and A-1 Pictures on this one!
Edit: Also, the way they made the voice actors, XX:me, sing the endings. Wow!
Attached is my favorite ending btw.
Wow, reading the comments here vs. the comments on Reddit are completely different experiences. Glad you guys enjoyed it.
but Reddit is not wrong, at least for some points.
Yeah, I will admit they're not wrong at all, it's just that a lot of them are overreacting.
Oh, yeah... The best Mecha Magical Girl show is back guys! Sarcasm.
And on this episode of My Teen Pregnancy...
Oh no, no way, that thing is somehow allowing communication between the Magical Girl Mecha and Earth? [It can even plant plants, yes] I though they were thousands of light years apart... But hey, maybe there's a convenient explanation for that somewhere?
That ending was so fitting for that whole mess. Cuz you know, when you're going the Magical Girl route, might as well just go full Magical, amirite or amirite?
I don't think that I've ever felt as much pure hatred towards a show's director/writer and all the wasted time, talent and money that went into it because of him. But hey, it taught me one thing: I should never feel the urge to finish a show and just drop it when I see fit, even if there's just a couple of episodes left. Please.. never.. ever.. give that man the opportunity to direct a show again.
I thought this was a fantastic way to end the show, It was very heartwarming to see everyone grow up, become mothers, and fathers. Iceing on the cake was seeing Hiro, and 02 reincarnated and meeting again. I broke down when i saw those two meeting again. I love this show so much. Kudos to Trigger, and A1!
It's strange seeing so many positive comments about the show after so many negative ones on the past episode discussions... and I'm gonna have to be one of the ones in the negative minority.
I just hated everything after episode 15. I'm so, so very glad that this mess is over with. The ending was also pretty awful, befitting the show I guess.
The one thing I liked: Klaxosaur Hiro's design (pretty hawt tbh) and how he and Zero Two looked as a couple. The character designers/art directors did a good job.
What a fucking disaster. What started as a solid show for about 15 episodes predictably turned into a clusterfuck mess of increasing proportions until by the last few episodes it was totally unsalvageable and able to written off as a joke. My only consolation is that Trigger probably won't make a season 2 of this trash.
WOW.. this series is just so BEAUTIFUL!! Did u guys see the true form of strelizia Apus??!! kind of touching.. it is actually a form of ZERO TWO wearing a wedding dress (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
This anime is very like Evangelion and Guilty Crown's ending, but it does still strike me as a masterpiece. i don't get why everyone in the internet with so much negative hatred towards endings like this, it is kinda funny that they all seems like copycat... 100% sure those guys keep shouting the same old "15 episode above bla-bla-bla" kind of shit. but hey, let's just all enjoy this series, i get that everyone has their own opinions... but lets keep the copycat stuff away k? :)
What a trainwreck it was. It's like they had no idea what to actually do with the show, and changed the concept a few times throughout its course. The change after the 15th episode is the most noticeable, and that's the point at which everything just went inane and tumbled all the way down to the rock bottom. It should be a primer for how NOT to develop characters.
One of the worst shows I've seen.
tl;dr- Decent anime all the way through. Started of really good then got bumpy after the halfway point, and the last 5-6 episodes introduced new plot points that wasn't handled while because of time constraints I guess. But, it had a decent ending so I'll give it that.
I just didn't like that Hiro and Zero Two died and they played the BS reincarnated card. What's even funnier is that they got reincarnated literally hundreds of years later, maybe even more. That means the original squad 13 are all dead, so it doesn't matter in the end. I guess you can have it play out that all of Squad 13's children ( add a few greats to that ) meet up with the reincarnated Hiro and Zero Two and their story continues that way. If that's how it goes then... ok fine I guess that works.
I would have been so much more ok with Hiro becoming a full klaxosaur ( forgot how to spell it ) and him and Zero Two defeat VIRM and then come back to earth around the time where there are lots of kids and you see Ichigo and Goro having a baby. If Hiro and Zero Two came back around that part of the episode, I would have been absolutely ok with that. But nope. They didn't even have an escape plan lol. After planting the bomb, they were like "Ah screw, guess we'll sacrifice ourselves. I love you!" and bam. It's over. Bruh what. You going to go through all that and just let it end like that. Whatever man. Even after saying all that, the ending was decent, I just didn't like that they decided to play that reincarnation card, but it was executed pretty well. This anime was good.
A lot more people actually enjoyed the ending than I excepted lol. I thought it was decent and it had some feel good moments to it. I enjoyed the series as a whole up until about the last 5 episodes where it almost felt like they had no idea what to do with it. Had a lot more potential IMO.
everything considered I enjoyed 02
Genuinely surprised about how many people loved that anime.
Nothing wrong with that, more power to you, I just didn't see it that well.
I thought it was really good until about 75% through, at that point it was pretty obvious that everything was cobbled together last minute.
The last episode was by far the worst, none of it really made sense with the show's own lore.
I'd give it a 6.5/10.
