Let's talk about the Gundam franchise here !
I recently put my plan to watch most entries in the gundam franchise, finished origin and zeta now time for zz after a short break from mecha
Sorry, I was under the impression that origin was the she same as 0079
So you watched the 6 movies or the 50 tv show episodes / 3 movies ?
I've currently completed Mobile suit gundam 0079 (the tv series) and Mobile suit Zeta gundam *(the tv series)
Oh okay I see, It's an advice but you can skip ZZ to watch Char Counter Attack's movie and Gundam Unicorn (the 7 movies)
Naw man, this is a mission, I've heard it gets better with time so I intend to take my time.
I mostly watch UC timeline stuff
Turn A Gundam and War in the Pocket are my favorite
Gundam Origin is pretty good too, I wish Seyla had more screentime in the later episodes though
08th Gundam team I mostly like, except for the kinda implausible love story
I've watched the 6th episode of Origin at Paris in a cinema and she doesn't have a lot of screentime unfortunately.
Have you watched Gundam Thunderbolt ?
No, but thanks for reminding me about Thunderbolt. I was planning to watch it some time ago but forgot.
Yeah, I would have liked an explanation how Seyla ended up in a federal uniform, since they left her on side 7 when the episode ends but as a civilian; if what her motivations were was presented in the original show I've forgotten it.
I'm actually surprised at how reasonable I found Degwin Zabi in Origin despite being a authoritarian despot. Basically a decent politician for having limited aims (independence for his state with a short a war as possible) but undermined by his terrible kids.
Well, as in 0079, Degwin is a pragmatic and reasonnable man, he just get overwhelmed by his son
tbh I barely remember Degwin in 0079, or most of it since it's been a few years since i saw it
I still remember Kycilia's head exploding though :D
I just didn't expect to actually like Degwin (at least, compared to the other Zeons), or have mixed feelings on Revil (since I agree with him that Zeon deserves punishment, but he also helps to prolong the war, maybe doing more to encourage it among the public than anyone else)
My favorite Gundam shows are Zeta, IBO, and Victory.
Gundam: The Origin (manga) is my favorite thing ever. (´ ω `♡) I bought the books and plan to re-read in the colorized version online when that's done. Meanwhile, I just got back into reading the novel, Gundam: Awakening, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! I like both of these more than the anime tbh. Anime-wise, my next move might be to re-watch Zeta. It's been a long while...
The original series was alright, but it's not a favorite. I've sampled everything I could find in the Gundam universe, and this would be my essential watch list in the order of my personal preference (1 being my favorite):
Everything else in the series I don't really consider worth watching (yes that includes Unicorn). The only thing I haven't sampled is Origin. In my opinion the worst Gundam are Wing and Seed, stereotypical garbage lazily produced for children that cashes out on the most superficial crowd pleasing concepts. I don't care what anyone says, they are garbage. That may be harsh, but I think it's fair.
