why no one talks about this
bcos its not popular
Good joke
The remake is actually not popular @SoonOFF
Why would there be discussion, it hasn't aired yet?
Edit: is it just me or did none of the 3 previous replies actually look at what anime the OP had attached to the thread???
Because the OVA series is already a niche, a work of cult given how highly praised it is, but the "fans" of that one instead of giving it visibility are busy fighting between them trashing it demonstrating they have zero braincells despite saying they only watch deep and very intelligent shows for smart people. If they did a simple search they would know Ginga Eiyuu is originally a novel and this "remake" is actually an actual version more faithful to the novels instead of the reinterpretation the OVA series did. Just like Orphen, but DNT has a good studio which puts a lot of effort into this one.
Thank god Japan isn't as dumb in this case, just this one.
more faithful to the novels
More faithful has never meant "automatically better" and there is more to a work than its plot and characters.
Who cares if it's better or not, the point is it shouldn't be compared to the original OVAS cause it was never the point of this project to make the same show again. The point is having two versions for different generations to enjoy it from new perspectives, stop comparing when DNT isn't even fucking over.
it shouldn't be compared to the original OVAS
it should, just like other non galactic heroes shows should be compared to both of them as that's is how media analysis tends to work.
stop comparing when DNT isn't even fucking over.
You're the one who actually compared them first by pointing out differences /shrug
No, it shouldn't because this leads to the ostracization and trashing the comunity does. Like I mentioned again, exactly like Orphen. Yes, the original show might be better produced but that's not the point. If you are gonna say the new series sucks do it saying DEEN wasn't able to produce a better product, not compare it to another show which the only thing they share is same names. That's the only comparision that should be done, to state they are different, not to proclaim one is better than other due your bias.
And I never compared both shows in my first statement, I was just describing both versions, stop twisting my words. You are the first who compared them though your claim that more faithful doesn't imply being better, which was never my point, this isn't about which one is better...
Its not bias to comment that you think one adaptation is better than another.
Also im not twisting your words, you just seem to not understand what your words mean. Or you haven't fully thought about what the implications of your beliefs on media analysis really mean.
Either way I'm likely done responding here
I haven't seen or read any Legends of Galactic Heroes besides Die Neue Thesis. But I love it and it's my third favorite anime. I don't really want to read manga or watch something with old animation. Season 1 is pure war strategy and season 2 is where the epic plot comes in. I'm a bit behind on Season 3 (Collision).
I have two friends who are in the same situation as me. It's a niche-audience show but it fits that niche perfectly.
