tldr at the end
i'm a teenager with a part time job and i work 23/hours a week. i commute to school and work on the bus but i stopped listening to music during my commute because i feared for my hearing. i used to listen to metal music on the highest volume for long amounts of time and it seems like i may have damaged my hearing a bit because i can no longer hear my music at only 40-50% volume when walking near main roads and on the bus. but actually, is that a result of slightly damaged hearing or is that just normal because of how loud cars and buses can be?
ANYWAYS, i've been getting back into music again and i would really like to get spotify premium because i don't really want to spend hours and hours downloading music illegally anymore (i download entire discography of bands because that is how i listen to music). the thing is, i have a very poor relationship with money despite having a part time job that pays pretty okay. i am extremely cheap and refuse to pay for anything but i seriously really want spotify premium, i just can't convince myself to get it because of the cost. it is $11.49/month for me, calculations suggest. i already use spotify free on a daily basis on my laptop but the reasoning of the costs adding up over time is enough to make me not want spotify premium anymore.
TLDR: i want to buy spotify premium but the accumulation of the cost is enough to convince me to not get it. what will convince me to get it? it is $11.49/month for me.
Not for 11.49.
Imo it would only be worth it if you can get a cheaper price and listen to music a lot
For example I share a family account with 5 other friends. Since it’s 16.99 CAD a month we split the price and it ends up being ~ 2 CAD per month each which is significantly cheaper. So I’d suggest doing that if possible. Or because you’re in school you might be able to get the student discount?
11.49 is def too much
i got a good deal through a friend to buy spotify premium for 5 bucks for the entire year just so i could use it with amazon alexa tbh, but your situation seems not ideal in my opinion, honestly if you're listening to full on albums and such its not going to make a huge difference if you're just using free, just shuffle and ads.
i didn’t read that but yes its so fun being able to skip and not here the annoying “30 second ads” when they literally are more than 30 seconds.
plus it’s easier adding songs to playlists. what i will say tho is that if you haven’t used a free trial yet, wait till they give you 2-3 months of it free just pay attention to the adds cus i got 3 months free from sept 30th- dec 30th and it’s nice so far and no money was paid
https://loader.to download your music and put it into https://deadbeef.sourceforge.io.
thats pretty much better than spotify anyway if you wanna support your favourite artists donate to them directly instead spotify takes all the money for themselves
you could also buy the albums from bandcamp and download it from there
I'm in a Spotify family and I use it pretty much every day during commuting, work and also in my free time. I feel like I'm getting my money's worth, but considering you'll be paying more than double while using it way less, I wouldn't take it. See if getting Spotify Family is worth it, instead? Maybe you can ask your parents to get a subscription together.
