Which anime character do you think was not written very well?
Eren from Attack on Titan
I only have one person for that spot and only one, no contenders
explain?
Glorified tiger paper. Pushed as a major badass, but is figuratively and literally the series' local jobber. A knight who should be used to this ends up acting like a child once she gets inconvenience like she did in the middle of her own route. Not to mention treated as a joke by most of the characters and was legit only thought of as a sex object by one of the final antagonists, hard to find her credible honestly. Strong female character, she isn't.
The idea was to make her hateable or to at least make you question about her, as a character, one who is objectively speaking shallow her only trait being her status as a knight and a king. This is furthermost evidenced in the Kings Banquet in Zero and throught more discussions and analyses. So to conclude your hate for Saber is what was intented altough maybe not to such an extent.(btw this is viable for all the fate cast members)
There is "You hate her cause she is a good character who flaws actually work within the setting" and "You hate her cause she contrasts greatly with her environment". Her status as a knight and king is regularly mocked. Iskandar and Gil essentially roasted her, Shirou didn't even acknowledge as more than just a woman in her own route, and her own knights were baffled at her such a person could be in a position despite their loyalty. I would have liked it if she actually shone through her flaws instead of proving other characters' points about her immaturity and uselessness.
Pretty much all of the characters from School Days
the first thing that came to mind was hentai protagonists
So we're talking something like this?
https://anilist.co/character/4962/Yukiteru-Amano
Absolute garbage in s2, kinda cool in Sinners 1, okay in s3. And the positive change wasn't any form of development, it was a different team of writers.
https://anilist.co/character/74011/Mika-Shimotsuki

it may not count causes it's a companion anime to a visual novel but
https://anilist.co/character/90000/Ryouta-Mitarai
prolly any female character from the early 2000's or 2010's. so all of em LOL
everyone listed here was like, okay. imo. i mean i do like hawkeye but the focus wasnt on her too much so she's not fully developed. winry is ass cant even lie about that
idk monster
k-kon is like them all playing idk it doesnt really get into them? theyre fine
akane was pretty good but i mean tbh. just because shes a good one doesnt mean a lot are
Don't mind me, I just gotta let this out...
Rukia was so badass when they first introduced her then idk what happened for the rest of the show. Freakin Orihime had such interesting abilities (like the little fairies can literally reject reality) so why does she need to be saved 80% of the time. Don't even get me started on the Reborn girls. I wanna frkin cry everytime they're on screen. I'll skip Sakura since she's literally the icon of this trope. Why tf are they always getting Lucy naked?
sakura, yamsha
Why it's always them lol
(In my country, Sakura being burden/useless is pretty much common joke)
yh but let's say naruto's writer didn't add sakura? Nothing in the story would've changed
Sakura actually helped a lot. For example:
If she didn't helped Naruto and Sasuke During fight againts Kaguya, Naruto and Sasuke won't be able to sealed her
I've been into this rabbit hole. Sakura, as a main character who got so much screentime, barely did anything compared to the rest of the main characters (both good and bad). Just for example,
Just consider the fact that she was too scared to stab Obito in the eye, the literal enemy general in the middle of a war. Pretty sure literally anyone else would've done it in a flash, and Madara would never get the Rin-ne-gone
Shinji in original evnagelion series
I haven't seen the movies so he could be fine there idk
Do you think he's actually poorly written or do you just hate him as a person?
Yeah I thought about this specific thing before posting. I don't like him and I think he is poorly written.
@setok this also answers you kinda.
I'm so glad you asked

Hate this mf
-Kiritsugu
-terribly written
choose one
He is easily the worst character from zero imo, waver and iskandar stomp him
And what makes him so bad?
Not gonna make you lose your time (and by extension anyone that reads this) so i’m gonna be honest, i find it incredibly difficult to put my thoughts into words so i’m not gonna be able to explain this, barely could with my keijo review since it’s my fav series
Either way if you don’t agree with me that’s fine
blah blah blah you cant put your thoughts into words whatever... you got no argument is what you're saying? i mean ur favorite character is kirito soooo....
I'm honest here. I'm going with Johan Liebert from Monster. Everyone around me hyped him as the greatest anime Villain, But I've seen him and I don't find anything interesting about him. The Main reason why I dropped monster anime. (For me, Villains like Izaya Orihara (Durarara), Gilgamesh (Fate) and Char Aznable (Gundam) are much better than Johan)
People seem to like Johan because he's scary, and like a force of nature that Tenma has to overcome. But I agree, he's kind of forgettable and doesn't actually do that much anyways. Like, he hardly even shows up in the series and when he does, what he ends up doing isn't particularly impressive? The characters that have met him hype him up to an incredible degree, and his actions just don't live up to it. At least, in my opinion.
Nina from Code Geass. Absolutely hated her all the way through.
adding almost every other Geass character
@Godsen Which Code Geass characters would not be included here?
I'd say Kallen, Lulu and a little bit of Orange boy. also whoever Suzaku's girlfriend was whom i can't remember the name of, her character remained decent cause she was killed off fairly early
Personally its Lelouch and Suzaku who are the standouts for me. C.C. and some others have their moments, but think those 2 are probably the only ones I'd put in a "phenomenal" standing. Despite Suzaku's level of annoyance, I think he serves a pretty good purpose and is a good equalizer and opposition to Lelouch
