What did you think of the episode?
The anime looks like a promo for the game. A lot of Info dump, boring characters with some bland sci-fi/fantasy setting. I had some expectations with this anime... At least original music when they fight like Macross but not even that. So I'm probably going to drop it soon. And you can really notice when an episode is made from "MAPPA (outsourcing)" and MADHOUSE.
pretty chill episode u can clearly see it was made by mappa from the lowkey drop of animation but it's not that bad it's more like mappa is only there for their name to promote the anime but mostly the good animation is from madhouse we are already almost at half and im starting to lose the interest a bit first episode was good but why did they decide to throw the backstory now if we were to continue with the atmosphere from ep 1 then in 2 they would have arrived in NYC but welp
The Orchestral music during the Mall scene, kinda lifted a boring episode. It's kinda fun.
Since this & previous episode is a backstory, this js fairly OK, but the show is lacking a hook. Sure, we've said they want to go New York, but that doesn't sound any exciting. As of now, I think they'll go to New York, and find more about D2, maybe cure or whatever they are trying for Destiny, and that's it.
A lack of hook is basically what making this show is a decent show when it could've been a good show.
I don't mind the show - it is a decent weekly watch. However there are many small things that I am still somewhat uncertain about.
Firstly, I can't seem to figure out what kindof genre they are going for. The tone seems all over the place - sometimes show is trying to be serious and pseudo-philosophical, sometimes funny, sometimes mysterious all with some strange action sprinkled on top.. It tries to tackle a lot but nothing exceptionally well.
Secondly, this is supposed to be a future post-apocalyptic world set in America but outside landscapes it feels like many Japanese cultural aspects bleed heavily into it.
So far this show didn't do anything to deter me from watching it but I do hope we'll get some sort sense of direction as we go further in.
I wanted to talk about this episode's animation. the first 3 episodes were smooth and perfect, this one it was made by mappa and it wasn't that good to be honest.
I think we will have a couple of episodes by Mappa and then Madhouse again, but I'm not so sure, but to be honest I'm pretty sure about this episode cause If u look closely, the drawings in this episode are very similar to those of AOT s4, and way different from the last 3 episodes.
I dont know why people love Mappa so much, just because they made a good anime "jujutsu kaisen" and that's it. They are a pretty average studio... There are many studios way better than Mappa. Madhouse is one already for example...
I dropped the anime and not because i didnt liked the animations, the setting, the music, the chardesign etc.
I dropped it after this episode, because the characters are still bland.
Without knowing how many episodes we will get, there is a high chance that the anime cant fix this problem in time.
If the anime gets more than 12/13 episodes, i will give the anime a chance again
My main issue with this series is that, for a show which talks about music so often, there isn't a lot of it and the soundtrack/sound design sucks. The OP is very nice but it's like all the budget went into it.
Anyway hoping we get to see more interesting secondary characters but not to the point that this becomes formulaic.
4 episodes in and I'm already fed up with Takt op.
This Anime shows, just how bad MAPPA treats their Animators.
By the looks of it, the fight scenes were done first, so they look decent enough.
But the rest (that is over 60% of an episode) just looks so lazily put together that it ends up not being a good experience.
The fights as well just feel so bog-standard and uninspired.
How about we take the Casino BattleScene from this episode as an example:
Suddenly some weird furry looking creatures come from the ground (for what reason they were there, we have no Idea)
and start trashing the place (that is now completely devoid of other customers, even though they were there just a second ago).
Then we start hearing this majestic music start to play in the background and the first thing that came to mind was that this is going to be some sort of dance with the BGM since this Anime is all about harmony and being in sync. Just a good way to make your scene pop!
But in the end, it was just BGM and nothing else and it threw the whole thing back to mediocrity.
The D2's design was also really stupid. Why would you have a weak point on your back? The part of the enemy that is armoured? srsly?
Dropping it now, since I see is no redeeming quality left, and the only thing left is disappointment
...
My disappointment is immeasurable!
And my day is ruined!
This show honestly feels like someone saw guilty crown and vivy and went, aha! I know what I'm going to do! It makes complete sense that it's a mobile game ad, because mobile game plots are always complete ass.
Like wtf is a "D2"? What happened to D1s? C1s? we've already been introduced so many concepts about this world yet we know literally nothing about them. you already know it's bouta be disappointing af.
see yall next week lmao
I liked the first episode of the show, but starting with the second episode, I was confused why it jumped right into the backstory then.
Episode 3 and 4 were pretty much boring and the fact that Cosette turned into a ducking puppet afterwards....yeah.
I don't know what to say about this show yet (Since it's just 5 Eps in), but the already mentioned lack of an actual antagonist is also a thing.
The animation is decent, but the rest is lacking a lot.
