Change of drawing style in the middle of the season

In episode 13 the drawing style suddenly changed. I was struggling with the series before. It was okay, but I had a hard time to connect to it. Episode 13 really just added the rest when the drawing style suddenly changed. What do you think about it?

I feel you, I completed the series yesterday but I had such a hard time dealing with the animation/art style.

  Okay, good to know that I didn't imagine it. I checked episode 12 and compared it with 13. Questioned myself if I just imagine it ^^

This might come in as a late reply, but I'm currently watching Shinsekai Yori and while I scrolled down on this site I saw your thread about this (didn't open then though). Honestly I think the artstyle change is like an artistic choice to define the three stages we are shown childhood, puberty and adulthood, as I get a feeling there was a slight change in towards the end. Like the artstyle is getting more defined with each part of life, they see the world for what it actually is.
