Urusei Yatsura - New Adaptation or OG, which would be better?

Do y'all think this will be better to watch than the og or is the og still worth to watch? And was the og adaptation of Urusei Yatsura a complete one or will this be the complete adaptation of the manga?

there's no way this remake and the original won't be cosmically different experiences altogether
a lot of early uy was like a peanuts cartoon
that being said, please watch the og if only to understand why it's one of the most influential of all time

Worst case: its a boring reboot that is an uninspired remake of the manga/anime

Best case: its good but still different compared to the original due to when it was made.

Either way the original will still be perfectly fun to watch

The og is still a lot of fun, but some things predictably don't age well. Ryunosuke being a prime example.

I'm really excited about this. I absolutely love Lum. All of the characters in this are great in their own way. I am worried about a Sailor Moon Crystal type of abomination happening, fingers crossed that won't be the case.

No, you don't have to watch the old one to enjoy the 2022 version. The 2022 version is supposed to be full reboot/remake and as such one can expect it to be pretty self contained.
The series is also more of a episodic rom/com than anything and consists of many standalone stories that can be simply cut out without losing to much, as such I also wouldn't be too worried about the smaller episode count. If anything it might do for a better more concise experience, rather than a dragged out one.
