What did you think of the episode?
I'm interested to hear what other people think. Personally I thought it looked really cheap and uninspiring. The CG at the start moving around the castle caused me psychic damage. The jokes all seemed really weak and obvious and the story boring. I don't think this show is going to be for me, but maybe I'm missing something?
I don't even know what they were thinking with the CG at the start. Maybe they were trying to set expectations so low that the rest of the episode would look better than it actually was? I think that happened to me, at least.
Other than that I like it, it seems like a decent show to scratch my economics/strategy itch... but if you don't suffer from that, yeah, it's probably not for you
Personally, I think the animation is decent, the CGI is trash, but that's in almost every anime so at this point I just got used to it, but the animation of the characters are not that bad, I like it, and the CGI in the war despite being a bad, it was quite original. The thing that I don't like it's the rushing, literally they rushed almost the entire first volume of the light novel in the first episode and I don't know why, maybe they think that the negotiations were going to be boring in an anime, but if that's the reason, then why make an anime of this type of history? I don't get the rushing. Despite all that, I'm gonna follow the anime and see how it goes.
I think y'all hating on the production and missing the forest for the trees. I know where you're coming from, I felt similarly at the start of the episode. It looked like they bit off more than they could chew with that OP, and there were some really obvious oversights in that first scene - it was really sloppy. Some of the things I noticed:
That said, I think the core conceit of the show is solid, and I find it to be funny. More funny than most comedic narou/fantasy comedy shows, tbh. My taste in comedy may be different from yours, but I legitimately enjoyed the episode a lot and I'm looking forward to more. The production was at its worst in the first few minutes, rest of the episode was relatively inoffensive.
Very much a mixed-bag first episode. While the cinematography and animation goes for a cinematic approach (which doesn't really work with what we actually got on-screen), I at least like the core idea of the series. The two leads being able to bounce off one another I think will really be one of the core features to make or break the series. Even if the comedy is not anything terribly new or fresh, I at least appreciate the panicked inner monologues.
I'm not optimistic or pessimistic about this one. I'm at least vaguely curious, which is better than nothing, I suppose.
Ignoring what everyone is saying about the production quality (which I didn't mind. CGI is almost always bad but it's a minor issue) the first episode was not good. Yeah, it's going to look generic, so the writing and direction need to make up for it. Except, they didn't. The MC's over the top acting pretty much killed most of my desire to watch the show. I wish they showed his reluctance in a not-so cringey way. The scene at the end when they took the mountain was good. It still shows his sarcasm and unwillingness to continue. The overly dramatic movements and childish way of speaking (both internal and external) make this show an inferior version of How a Realist Rebuilt the Kingdom instead of a rival show. If all of his reluctance was showcased with wit and a more beaten down attitude instead of infantile tantrums and humor, then I think the shows would be equal since their directions and tones are different despite being in the same genre
compared to realist kingdom the production value is actually decent, the cgi looks like ps3 graphics but the animations and the character designs stand out more and look more soothing than realist kingdom.. its the first episode some people say the first episode was bad i know first impressions matter but i think the show has potential i couldnt bother to read the manga thats why lol
This was super mid, and incredibly all over the place. Anybody who says this is comparable or better to Realist Hero is out of their damn mind. I'll give it a couple more episodes cause of the white haired chick, but it genuinely felt like barely related scenes thrown together. Zero atmosphere, zero hooks, very flat and uninteresting.
first i found meh
the main character is a mediocre, he just keeps yelling and is totally disposable
if you take him out and leave only his assistant, the anime would be 100000% better, unfortunately, that's not the case
I won't even comment on the battle because it just wasn't as mediocre as the MC
however I saw that the white-haired waifu doesn't wear anything under her shirt (5:33-5:40 minutes) and her packages are for free appreciation
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
her character is infinitely better than this garbage MC
if I end up watching it all would be for the female character because the plot and the MC will make me want to sleep
Everyone is talking about the CGI. All I really wanna know is if it’s following the LNs or the manga because I’m hearing that it’s skipping a bunch of content from the manga. But I heard that it’s adapting the LN version?
Other than that it was okay, I’m not expecting something amazing. If you take it for what it already is, it’s pretty decent
It is always funny to see how many people dislike everything. And the graphics seem to be everything important for them. They probably play Playstation games only as well. I like amazing animations and stuff, but I don't care at all if the story is interesting. And it is. Everyone is free to drop it but I enjoy it and will keep watching. Oh and I don't care if it is different from the manga. I probably won't read it.
Im just gonna say this premise could have been so much cooler if it was not a comedy. Like I would want to watch an anime where the main character is trying to pawn off his kingdom but has to be super smart about so people dont revolt or he gets assassinated for treason. Making moves that seem like smart moves for the country but ultimately only benefits him. Make it so that its a lonely path and he has to constantly put up some farce. So much potential lost because someone wanted a cheap comedy.
I'm a bit late to the table here, but on watching the first episode I have two main problems with the show itself (disregarding production)
the tone and consistency is all over the place. The humour - while it may be to the taste of people who think yelling and shouting random things is peak comedy - I would say came at the cost of characterisation and investment.
the story didn't go all-in on its premise. If this is going to be a political drama, then it needed to immerse us in world building and flesh out the politics. However coming from watching Realist Hero, there is definitely a wrong way to go about doing that, so I'm not surprised they decided it was too risky.
Overall a terrible first episode, the cg intro and the floating text specifically was in really poor taste, and nothing will ever taste the same again after the brain damage it incurred upon my cranium.
