So, he fell asleep one night screwing around with his character. Wakes up the next day as a girl...and...30 years had passed...?
Did I miss something from episode 1? Because this makes literally no sense at all.
That's part of the mystery, what exactly happened. While I'm upset that they changed it from him making his "ideal girl" to "screwing around", the episode was enjoyable.
This is far from a faithful adaptation as you can get without changing the basic settings and characters. But, I stopped reading before I got too far, so new content shouldn't take long to experience, and I won't have anything to compare it to anymore. Bit of a rough start that first episode, but things are moving nicely now.
No, it still makes zero sense because Solomon was fighting to keep the kingdom safe for those 30 years or whatever, and that other girl came back 10 years earlier. It doesn't make sense at all and it feels like they're just shoving their absurd nonsense down our throats and expecting us to just accept it and move along.
he didn't fought for 30 years, he just sudden got teleport into 30 years later, everyone else also the same beside Solomon, that is why Mira said "you have been protecting this kingdom by yourself all those years" even though right after that which kinda ruined the point of "protecting this kingdom all by yourself"
What did I just watch.
The premise of "30 years" doesn't even seem realistic, because not that much seems to have clearly changed, the online mmorpg is confusing, because it hasn't shown any of the characters in the real world, it should've been an isekai, but even that would've been confusing, the 3d is eh at best, and the 2d is not good. The foundation of the "boss" that was faced at the end of the episode was completely shaky. It literally looked at Mira, yet she didn't turn to stone, and it didn't show anything about a nullification spell, also how are the dark knights that she summons have nullification to anything? Finally, the "human like" npc's seem more like plot tools than actual humans.
Probably out of the winter 2022 shows that I'm watching, this one not only has the least potential, but is the worst (In my opinion)
You missed a fair bit of set-up after "Mira" awakened in episode 1, which isn't actually in the episode anyway. It's rather jarring how they have managed the story elements of this so far, and its kinda making it look a little messy. This is the kind of anime I'd probably say you're best off supplementing with the source material, though you do run the risk of doing what I've been doing and lamenting the elements that they shaved away... for one, a lot of the exposition could have been done in that 5 minute silent section at the end of episode 1. May have made that episode rather heavy-handed in the exposition department, but it would have helped explain things a little better.
It reminds me of my experience with "Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina"-- I'm actually finding that anime rather difficult to get through, because I've come to it from the manga and rather than making amendments to suit a 30 minute episode, it feels more like each place she goes to has more left on the cutting room floor than in the episode. For it being an anime about a Witch journeying the world, each place she visits in some instances feel more like her stopping off at a bus stop, interacting with the locals for a bit, and then moving on... but it does still have some key moments that work really nicely. The ED of Journey of Elaina is absolutely amazing too. Really has that mystical feel to it, and compliments the OP's feeling of adventure and exploration.
Back on track though, so far I'm kinda left feeling the same way with this. Episode 2 hasn't really alleviated that feeling, like I was hoping it would, but I'll stick with it for now and hope that things come together a little better for the later portions of the show. Some of the visuals with the characters are nice, at least.
they changed thing quite a bit so thing feel a bit too fast, even Mira didn't really get much time to actually soak in how this world has changed (ignoring the no dialogue scene in ep 1 of course) and then just quickly move to the first battle scene,
They also totally failed to show how brutal the Dark Beast can be, Mira didn't recall it because she can't control it but it because it gonna blast the whole place in dust if leave it be, even then it took actual effort for her to put it back but in the anime... it not only so easy but there also no point for her to summon bunch of Dark Knight if a single one can chop the monster to pieces after...
Also, the way they show Mariana set up breakfast for Danblf at the start of the ep, i get that they want to mirror it at the end of the ep to show she is happy now that Mira is here but... is that mean Mariana has been set up breakfast for all that 30 years...? They also didn't show her sad Mariana is after Mira revealed Danblf won't be return anytime soon.
The show really squeeze in the arc right now and doesn't seem to spend enough time to actually build up the character for me, i will give this one more try then decide if i drop it or not.
I mean you don't have to like the premise, but if you're unwilling to do the minimal of suspending your disbelief for what's literally the fucking title of the show then perhaps you ought to just drop since you've obviously primed yourself to have a bad time from the get-go.
Hot take of the day: show's actually a lot of fun & all y'all have wack taste. Character writing and banter is decent and VA's do a good job delivering it. I can appreciate not wasting animation budget with battle fluff and using it on character interaction instead. Show looks perfectly serviceable when it needs to. I don't care if the generic fantasy monster is 3D, it's not the point.
