What'd you guys think of this episode?/the series?
The problem with overpowered MCs is there's lots and lots of high profile talks.
The said plot was nice, like the anime started with him having guilt of having to slay his best friend, and ended with coming in terms with that guilt.
But but but, the excessive talks took down a lot of connected emotions. It was like reading "there's a lot of emotions" without feeling it. The final fight was almost great when all those magic circles formed and then the surrounding warped inside, I was amazed....just to get disappointed in the next scenes. Could've done more with that, instead of standing there to watch the live streaming video of Ard's friends crucified, and spending so much of screen time showing what's happening there!
Could've just kept it about Ard mostly. Just One man, from different times, fighting for his best friend - one flipping the world to get over the guilt of slaying her, another warping the world to honor her wishes. Could've connected the emotions more at the last scene where he came in terms with the guilt and thanked Lydia.
I'm very disappointed. I have to say for me personally it was one of the worst stories I've ever seen and I'm really not picky and often watch anime that others drop after one episode. The plot was just bad from the beginning. He was never a nobody because he kept his powers. And he was quickly a person without any problems to speak to other people and was loved by all of the women at the academy. Then the transformation into the demon king which did not make any sense and the plot with the kidnapping that was not relevant at all. And after that the whole thing with the past just out of nowhere, we don't know who that kid is and stuff. Even for an average show it was very very weak. I would prefer The strongest sage with the weakest crest or almost any other not well liked isekai over this any time. Does anyone know if only the anime adaptation is that bad or is the source itself not very good from the beginning?
There been a decent amount of these... recursive?.. isekai's lately. This one ended up pretty close to link Maou Gakuin in terms of quality, which while not exactly a rousing endorsement is not particularly damning either.

really deserves a way higher score. people are really really hung up on the face that the MC is OP. if you watch this please ignore that and enjoy the wonderful story behind it. the character growth for the MC is really good and it honestly teaches a really good lesson. my only complaint is how the two side characters were just left behind for the last few episodes.
Ok caught up with this one finally, and yeaah it's... ok.
Like it has a few interesting ideas and moments, but there's no real central plot to it, and it's another case of the show being let down by having such a boring overpowered MC beating absolutely every issue they face with absolute ease. Not to say overpowered characters are bad in themselves, but they need to have some personality to go with it otherwise it doesn't matter how much of the screen they fill up with explosions it's just not engaging.
The obvious comparison here is Demon King of Misfit Academy which has a very similar plot, but while that is also about a black haired overpowered guy with cute girls in tow that at least had the advantage of having a MC with charisma and a sense of humour.
There was nothing in this show that haven't been done in others a lot better. If you'd tell me this was generated by an AI fed with all the isekai and fantasy anime from the last 5-6 years I wouldn't dismiss it as complete nonsense. Well maybe I'd suspect it was touched up by someone because it lacked the MMORPG character progression mechanics even non-isekai fantasy anime have these days.
