  A leak from China's Baidu revealed that a fifth season of the anime adaptation of Koushi Tachibana's Date A Live novel is in production.
  According to the leak, the official announcement will happen soon, most likely after the final episode of Date A Live IV.

  Ehhh not quite. The anime has been adapting on average 4 novels per season. If season 4 ends through 16 and they keep that pace: they'll be done with 20/22 volumes by the end of season 5. That's not enough for an additional season following it. Most likely we're gonna get either a longer or more condensed season 5, or maybe a movie after it to wrap up the series.

  Season 3 was 3 volumes adapted, so it can happen that the last 2 seasons adapt 3 volumes as well, season 4 actually ended up at volume 16, which leaves us with 6 volumes to adapt. They can adapt until vol.19, then we can have one more season, if they adapt until volume 20, so it's probably going to end up in some kind of movie or OVA, or they can compress everything into this fifth season, those are the possibilities, the way is to wait for the release to get a sense of what they're going to do.

  Season 3 was 5 novels adapted (tho honestly, most of us consider it as 4 + a bonus given the 12th volume was completely speedrunned in 1 episode and skimmed through pretty much everything). Now season 2 was adapted in 3, but it was a 10 episode season instead of 12 because they were working on the Mayuri movie at the same time. The average pace for DAL across all 4 seasons has been 4 novels a season.
  
  It's certainly still possible they could slow the pacing down and do two seasons of 3 volumes each. But tbh I see it as the least likely option. Personally I agree that most likely we're either gonna get a slightly longer season 5 to make space for adpating the remaining LN's, or we'll get a movie after season 5 concludes around volume 20 to finish off the series.

  Oh yes, I forgot about the movie, and that the second one was less episodes too, but I don't know if they would do a longer season in the fifth, I believe more that the end will be in the movie.
  
  But, I wonder how many episodes they would make if they did a longer season, 16? 18 episodes?
  
  It would be more than a season of 1 cour, and less than a season of 2 cour. Seasons usually have established patterns of episodes to fit the entire airtime, whether it's 3 or 6 months.
