Note you don't have to view the chronological order. The broadcast order is a way better viewing experience and also requires less time investment. However, here it is just for visualisation and if you insist on doing this. Also note how the so called chronological order jumps back and forth in terms of production year from hyper modern to ancient and somehwere in the middle lol.
UC timeline (chronological order):
Mobile Suit Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam III Encounters in Space
Mobile Suit Gundam The 08th MS Team
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt December Sky (not canon but youd probably watch it around this time)
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO The Hidden One Year War
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO Apocalypse 0079
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO 2 Gravity of the Battlefront
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt Bandit Flower (not canon(
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ
Mobile Suit Gundam Chars Counterattack
Mobile Suit Gundam UC
Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative
Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway
Mobile Suit Gundam F91
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
Gundam Reconguista in G
Turn A Gundam
The last chronological entry in the UC timeline is either Turn A or G-Reco and while Tomino himself says G-Reco is last he also contradicts himself a lot both in series and in interviews so I've used the "Tomino when working on G-Reco did not consider how it fits in the Gundam timeline but later on haphazrdly slotted it as the last entry so we can at least say G-Reco is one of the last entries"
Also the live action movie G-Saviour is technically the last
Are these all the anime versions of the Gundam series?
It's listing all of the Gundam anime within the "chronological" order for Universal Century Gundam which is the main timeline. I don't suggest you actually use it but am listing it so you know. Note that all of the spinoffs came after 1988 and are often hazardously arranged with little thought behind the lore making complete sense.
I see. I asked that as I’m planning on starting Gundam pretty soon and wanted to know if those were all somewhat contained in the “Gundam verse”. Plan on watching it from release order, do you perhaps object this in any way?
Release order is the best order. However, I wouldn't blame you if you skipped a couple of ZZ episodes lol. As long as you watch 0079 TV (and maybe movie 3), Zeta, have a gist of ZZ (don't force yourself unless you are really interested in Gundam or Tomino works), and complete CCA, you can watch what you want in terms of Gundam UC.
The issue with pure release order is a lot of Gundam content that was written and meant to have anime long ago have either not gotten complete anime (f91) any anime at all (f90, crossbone, sentinel) or hasn't been completed yet (hathaway- the direct sequel to cca).
TLDR: Watch the core Gundam from 1979 to CCA in release order (up to you if you drop ZZ, just message me if you want a episode guide for ZZ because most of it is shit)
Anything after it is not as cohesive as the first 4 in terms of how the West considers canon or storytelling so you can do release order and be fine just note a lot of anime that was meant to be released decades ago still hasn't come out yet lol.
