Underrated horror anime recommendations?

Ive watched quiet a lot of horror, so getting some new recommendations wouldnt hurt. Also please try to recommend more underground horror anime and not The Promised Neverland for example.

"serial experiments lain". It's definitely a good one. Check it out. I paused it because I do not enjoy horror genre in general this much, but this one gets pretty deep.

  awh i agree but I already watched it! But i would say demon slayer throws in some gore which i dont know if iwould describe horror but for me personally it was a great watch, as a horror lover

Trust me on this one...just trust me. Horror-comedy prevails. Also, watch in dub if you aren't somehow turned off by this immediately. The dub is legendary fr, and this shit even has multiple seasons and games. When I tell you I stumbled upon a weird rabbit hole...

  Yeah, it's pretty unknown. Gotta say, despite being labelled as a "horror," this is really like a surreal silly goofy ride. I genuinely think I laughed the most watching this than anything else ever. Don't think about it too hard and simply have a time.

Nougami Neuro, Perfect Blue, Petshop of Horrors, Akira (not underrated but still), Blood series, Jigoku Shoujo, Devilman OVAs, someone already recommended Lain which is really good!

And it's definitely not a popular recommendation but I personally love School Days lmao.

  I'd personally start with the old Blood the Last Vampire OVA the start Blood+, it's the better of the two tv animes imo

Not animes, but literally any Junji Ito mangas. I would personally recommend you Uzumaki and The Enigma of Amigara Fault (1 chapter). If not Junji Ito, then you could read Berserk, Franken Fran and Bastard/Sweet Home (both horror manhwas).

If you really want horror anime, then I guess Mononoke is good
