I never review the shows I drop cuz I know I can't talk for the whole show. But I wanna hear the opposition. Not trying to make change, just conversation. (so pls be nice).
yes. people can do whatever they want with their lists :P
Not in their lists but write a review about it on the anime page. Sorry didn't clarify.
Why shouldn’t they? (We have a criteria that you have to have seen atleast 75% of the show before dropping to post a review, so that’s still a significant portion to view and form legitimate opinions/ratings on)
Just from my experience, that last 25% of an anime could be crucial in analyzing a story. For example, the last bit of Planetes boosted my opinion of it from a 7.5 to an 8.5. It tied basically all of the strings into an unexpectedly satisfying conclusion. On the other hand, some anime like Toriko start with a recipe for success but lead it nowhere/fall flat.
I really think the last 25% of a show could significantly change how a story is rated as a whole. Granted, there are shows that keep its pace throughout its entirety and a lot of reviews with at least 75% completion are still relevant. I just think they could also be misleading, and gatekeeping for 100% completion would yield more accurate reviews.
oooooo okay
hmmm thats definitely a tougher question... but I'm okay with 'no' as of right now. i think if one thing their opinion is worthy of being shared to an unassuming public than it should be one based on the entirety of a piece of media
I take opinions and reviews differently. One could be like "Hey, tell me why you dropped it" while the other could be "Tell me how good the show is". With the latter question, I'd want someone who has seen the whole show.
And also, I still love hearing opinions and I definitely consider them but I think they should have their own space. Just for actual reviews, I really think people need to know the material (whether they loved it or hated it).
And thanks for responding :)
Write a review... 75% percent completion minimum seems fair, but not for longer shows...
I'd say 'no' since most people drop stuff before getting that far, especially, again, for longer shows.
Also I think you should edit the original post/thread title (if possible) to clarify you mean write a review, not rate...~ (Even though you clarified in a reply to the first comment, some people might not read it)
To make an objective review, you need to see much of the series at a minimum.
(There are exceptions with very long anime like 300 or more chapters, I don't want to go into that)
If it is a subjective and personal review, then you can do it with any chapter.
It's like being served a plate and you just don't like ketchup, it means the ENTIRE plate is crap.
But if the dish itself tastes like shit and several also have that idea, then something strange is happening.
Objective review : No (there may be exceptions, not all anime/manga are made in the same way and you cannot analyze them in the same way either)
Subjective review:
Yes, since you are more on your side and your ideals, you may find everything harem crap and just criticize it for that.
This is what I think
If the review is negative then yes.
If the show if soo bad that they can't finish it, that in itself says a lot about the show, even if the ending is insane, if the beginning is dogshit then you cant expect someone to bog through it.
If the review is positive no, they already enjoy it just finish it.
I don't see the problem with it personally. They're just giving an opinion based on the episodes they've watched. It's up to the reader of those reviews to determine how much their opinions matter to them. Plus, I don't think it should take the entirety of a series to determine how much you'll like it. Whatever few interesting developments happens in a series won't make up for a large portion of uninteresting and unenjoyable content in my opinion.
