Lyco RecoI highly enjoyed the intensity of the first half alongside the casual conversation Chisato and Majima had. It was amazing stuff. But as for everything after that, I was kinda disappointed with how things wrapped up. Maybe I was wrong in hoping that it would be more sentimental after everything Chisato and Takina went through, but I don't know, their reunion and the interactions they had before the after credits scene felt empty as fuck. Really a shame that after all this engagement I felt throughout the show, it ends like this.
Overall though, this anime was solid for what it was. Between the fun characters, engaging action and high intensity, there was a lot to like here. It did feel too fast at points, a few things didn't really get the resolution they deserved, and the ending, like I mentioned, felt really empty, but I can't deny how much I enjoyed it in the end.
Solid 7/10.

I dont get it how was it empty? Did you want them to cry or something after reuniting? Relationships between close friends dont all work like that sometimes you act like nothing happened to return to how things were before.
Personally what i wanted was something less happy more bittersweet but thats a subjective take rather than something objective like last weeks cover up being crap. Good finale overall will check out season 2 when that happens.
Great show overall its in the "Great" range(around 8.5) for me whatever number that is for you guys
I wasn't expecting something overly-sentimental, but there was no emotional payoff to any of the emotional intensity of the previous episode with how Chisato and Takina's final interactions feel really lackluster after everything we've seen of them throughout the show and the whole thing about Chisato potentially dying soon without a heart. Any level of remote heart the final episode could have is thrown out the window for yuri bait.

I dont see how its Yuri bait. The season established that FOR NOW their relationship is purely that of friend. If they had a Yuri moment that would be actual bait cause that hasnt been any moments that definitely show that they are more or want to be more than friends at the moment. I think that's more of a subjectively criticism rather than something that was objectively wrong with the story.
And again, i don't see why it should be emotionally charged their convo at the end looked lighthearted but their was a lot of emotion underneath their talk. That was good enough for me but thats a subjective take.
Good finale, maybe its because i was never too invested in the plot but i didn't find some ridiculous actions by the characters too bad (although i feel last few episodes it was a bit too much) instead it was a fun show to watch every week.
Mika goat like goddamn he badass
The action sequences were pretty good as well, the lighting and character drawings were really great but this was a bit goofy

I feel the character interactions were a best part of this show but lack of that in these past episodes made this show overall a bit underwhelming especially when the plot is loose, with a more polished script i think it would have been even better but im glad that Adachi was also involved in the story instead of only Asaura (especially considering his other LN he released using lycoreco hype)
Also LMAOO i know its a bit lame but Majima played with em the whole show, might be my favorite after Kurumi

The B part of this episode was the best, Takina and Chisato encountering each other once again was cute and funny.
My god Yoshi really a piece of shit until the very end also Mika is such a great father, glad that Chisato has moved on as well.
CUTE, also the best part of the episode lol
Lyco reco really managed to ride the hype until the very end, i feel its mostly because of Chika anzai performance in the beginning that people gave this show a try even though Takina's VA stole the show in the later episodes.
Also it seems some japanese fans are not happy, but its not because of plot or anything instead its coz Chisato and Majima shared an indirect kiss, lol its funny.
knowing aniplex i feel season 2 incoming but i hope story will be more polished coz its only a matter of time people forget this show even though its popular af rn
especially with all the new shows coming out.
One thing is Aniplex hit gold with this considering it might be their "ah whatever happens, happens" show
Decent ending. Lots of things left open for a potential OVA/S2, and they announced a manga spin-off already.
I think an additional episode would've been optimal, but it could've been a lot worse.
The first part was really tense and the fight did not disappoint, and I have to say, after everything Takina and Chisato went through I expected something a bit more emotional, but the beach scene was great anyway.
Nah absolutely not the ending I hoped for. I expected an emotional roller coaster but got this "everyone is happy-ish" ending. But what I loved the most was that lyco reco delivered satisfying ep literally every week. Don't think the feeling is mutual with some anime original seasonals.
Anyway it was a pretty good show with likable chars, enjoyable music and art and an epitome of the perfect combination of emotions. Really gonna miss this sweet show. Nice job A-1 pictures
This was definitely a series that was carried by the voice actors. This wouldn't have gotten nearly as much traction as it did if Chika Anzai and Shion Wakayama didn't blow their parts out of the water. Chika should be absolutely proud of her performance. I'll come out and admit I was hoping for a bittersweet ending with Chisato actually dying, but I am down for seeing a second season that deals with the fallout of Majima's actions.
I am a bit sad that the synopsis from the official site is so bad. It doesn't really give good insight into what the show actually is.
Based on the previous plot twist moments, I've expected a weaker ending. I'm not saying it's the best possible situation, but it's better than I thought It'd be.
Anyway, we watched this show for it's well written, energetic cast and amazing voice acting, not for it's unique or amazing plot. I think we got what we came for.
It's a solid 8 / 10 in my eyes.
Not gonna lie, I kinda zoned out halfway through the series and just started focusing on the guns. I was still watching it for the story, but every time a gun is in frame i pause to screenshot it. I still had fun watching it overall, solid 83/100. Wouldn't rewatch again, but it was pretty good.
As much as I know that this is Chisato's story, I would love to see future content that goes into Mika and Shinji's past, or a LilyBell PoV. Seeing how they (LilyBell) are geared with a rifle compared to Lycoris with Glocks, I assume they deal with more dangerous situations.
Some extra screenies
Mika scary.
Loved this show from beginning to the end. Very sad that it's over but considering how Majima survived and the entire situation with the guns still circulating, I can see them making a second season in the near future. Apparently there's gonna be an event in Feb so let's hope they announce smt there. Though A-1 is hella packed with projects rn so we're gonna have to wait a while
Also, I wrote a review so pls do peep that as well since I go more into what I loved about this show
Combined eye catch for ep 13:
That finale was pretty dismal. i can't believe i finished watching this.
remember how much time was spent on chisato being unable to kill yoshimatsu because of the guilt itd cause her? the finale will contain no resolution of that, even though he wasn't lying about the heart, and he had to die so she would live.
remember chisato being gay for takina all the time? the finale won't resolve that either. and because it was clear chisato is romantically attracted to takina, that means lycoreco is ding ding ding yuri bait.
DA is confirmed to successfully cover up the existence of lycoris. the soundtrack and animation is about the only thing I enjoyed. Also Mika & yoshi, and mika's scene in this episode was fun. In the climax of the whole series, chisato abandons her pacifism to finally shoot Majima to knock him out and send him falling hundreds of feet to his death-
except he survives, but she doesn't know that! for all chisato knows, she killed majima. again, no time will be spent on the ramifications.
all my previous criticism abt mass surveillance and armies of thousands of brainwashed children murderers being treated as benevolent or a joke instead of horrifying still holds.
i'm going with 5. it probably would have been better to finish call of the night & drop lycoris, instead of dropping cotn & finishing lyco.
womp womp
Finally a comment that touches upon the whole child soldier aspect that's been bugging me from beginning till end. This show had plenty of self-righteous bullsh!t-spewing adults, with Majima topping that list. Had he focused on how the government systematically turned orphans into child soldiers, then there would be some actual merit to what he was doing. Instead he is just a self-righteous narcissist rivalling those he claims to be after. Also, he only wants to expose Lycoris and not LilyBell? What's balanced about that?
Sorry for ranting. I think I really needed it, though.
From what I can gather here, people did not prefer a rather happy ending for the show. I am perfectly happy, though. It ended exactly how I would expect it to, given the context. More importantly, however, the season ended with enough to open the possibility for a sequel.
No development on the romance between Chisato and Takina was a bit of a letdown, not gonna lie.
Please someone give Shingo Adachi the title of King of Conmans for making all the the world say an absolute mess of story and world is one of the best of the season. And all because a cute girl who almost checks all the requirements to be called Mary Sue, but hey she is a cute girl so it doesn't matter, I am sure if Chisato were a dude in ep 3 or 4 most of people would say how LR is a power fantasy with a Gary Stu as protag, but somehow that doesn't happen when you are material for waifu of the season.
Now excuse me this sarcastical amount of nothing. If I have to be quite honest, the series had A LOT OF POTENTIAL but most of it ended wasted because if I can resume LR in a single phrase is: Nothing matters at all, except Chisato.
My only two highlights from this episode would be:
Mika and Yoshi's story getting a proper closure: Their story was interesting albeit short, and I have to applaud the writers for having the guts to show a non-subtle gay couple featuring a black person. Respect where is due.
Chisato and Majima's interaction: My biggest meat with this series is how it wasted precious interactions between characters so much, and yet the few ones that they did were kinda great.
Everything else was the constant "we have no idea what we're doing"
So many episodes wasted on the heart drama for zero payback. I was sure they wouldn't have guts to let Chisato die but what I didn't expect is they to not do ANYTHING with it. What is that post ED scene? Did that have any reason more than once again Chisato's whims and shilling?
Majima's whole BALANCE theme was interesting but completely unexplored. And that's impressive to say for a show that started with a monologue on how invisible enforcers mantain the status quo.
The Alan institute? A mc guffin to explain the mechanical heart and geniuses around. That's all.
Gotta love how Chisato had the guts to say she fights to protect those who she loves while one of her companions was almost dying due to her stupid whims of no killing. Yeah, I get she is thankful for her borrowed life but if she decides to not kill, at least not let others get messed through her decision. Chisato wants a lot of freedom, but zero responsability over her deeds. And how amazing is that after "protecting her loved ones" once she gets up in the hospital she decides to leave everyone for no absolute resson, she couldn't even play the "I wanted to die alone to not make anyone worry" because she understood that they did the surgery to her heart, so why she did that? Dunno, that's the nature of this show, a complete nonsenical whim after another. While a lot of people would say she is the highlight of the series, I would say she is the weakest point because everything in that world just exists for her sake alone, thus creating a really artificial setting and shallow world.
Honestly I simply have no idea how they want to speak about more seasons when they didn't develop anything worth for it, and the character focused plot already finished.
5/10, an entertaining show with cool visuals but nothing more to offer than their tryhard female John Wick with a needless story that only made worse the whole worldbuilding.
If the whole show had been an scaling episodical case after case that all threads lead to one finale, I would have loved it for sure. But alas, they wanted to be deep and smart without being.
And even then, it is miles better than the other original show they did for this season. Holy shit A-1, you are really more miss than hit.
And what did I say? I had a gut feeling they were going to do a huge cop out on her death and save her for no reason and here we are with her death being a fake "yooo we actually savedd herrrr" and it did ruin the anime a decent amount for me personally. Overall still a very fun watch however there is no denying that.
amazing, glad that they went for the happy ending route. Chisato still lives. Takina is amazing too, at how she rescued Chisato with the wire.
Jin came to their cafe, funny how it takes sometime for him to make an order.
had a good laugh at Kurumi aloha at the end. LOL
want more... maybe there would be season 2.
