The title says all, start with me.
@ChaosHerc I had to look hard for these since your list is good.
Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion
It's your fault if you don't recognize the best anime.
Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
Higher than the movie? It's the same just with boring filler added.
Bungo Stray Dogs 2
Higher than seasons 1 and 3? Not an absurd take, it's just the opposite of mine.
I'll try to give a bit of an explanation to each one.
I'm mixed on Code Geass so i often change my score anywhere between 6-8. This is because it has some really cool moments, but many flaws as well. Here are a couple videos on youtube which might slightly change your opinion on Code Geass: https://youtu.be/ypeNGXRARow, https://youtu.be/ciPnpV-JoN8.
In my opinion Mugen Train TV > Movie, because a) it introduces Rengoku's character in a more satisfacting way (instead of having him yell "delicious" for a good twenty seconds), and b) I think it just works better as a series, it allows you to watch in more sittings and makes the transition from dreams to action much smoother.
BSD 2 is easily better than season 1, which was a bit of a mess, and wether or not it's better than season 3 is debatable, I think it just has a better establishing flashback for Dazai, a better-paced plot, and a better conclusion. Fyodor is still the best character though.
I guess for Mugen Train TV I am just upset that they worked on filler content instead of starting the next season sooner. ufotable's epic animation style takes a while.
BSD 2 had a better plot, but it's a character-focused show and I liked the characters as they were in season 1 better than the Guild. And Chuuya is my favorite character.
@cbcamo
Hunter x Hunter 2011
i am genuinely surprised you have this show so highly rated when yorknew is toward's the tail end of the rankings and heaven's arena is your favourite
ONE PIECE
cmon man, only 10 episodes? at least give the manga a shot
Assassination Classroom
try it again. season 2 is my favourite anime of all time (though nostalgia might be a factor in that).
I am not a fan of all shounen so I only like ones like HxH and FMAB that have some less light-hearted scenes and immediately great characters. I tried them out and decided I liked more intense, plot-focused shows better.
I don't understand how chimera ant is the worst hxh arc you've seen but still give the show a 9+, anyone who truly appreciates the show knows chimera ant is peak in writing, yes it starts of slow but everything is so worth it by the end. But you like cote so that's a plus, the anime is mid af but the light novels are peak.
Most people either think chimera ant is the best or worst arc. I remember this forum thread: https://anilist.co/forum/thread/56218
My main problem is the slow pace.
cote!
Your favorites disgust me.
You also paused Natsume, which isn't very valid.
Fret not, you are still redeemable.
Anyways, I'm not too sure how this forum works. I'm just copying what everyone else is doing.
your profile disgusts me, your favorites do too, hell even your planning list.
its actually hard to find a decent take and 99% of your list is full of things i consider an awful take.
but then again to each their own.
That's quite unfortunate for you.
That'd explain why you gave good anime low ratings and Cossette no Shouzou a 9.
Cossette left me bored and confused. It was so weird. The songs are fire though.
do you mind telling me what those "good anime" i rated low are? cosette is certainly a weird anime i wouldnt exactly reccomend it everyone its a hit or miss

The Animation
I'm also peeved that you rated Hajimete no Gal and Isekai wa Smartphone so low, but it's understandable that there're people who wouldn't like either.
I can at least see the reasons why many people wouldn't enjoy them.
im gonna be honest i thought these anime are pretty bad, i was just not that interested in them. none of them were relatable and the humour didnt really stick.
Interesting. I never took Ousama Game to be a funny type of anime.
None of them are supposed to be funny anyways. If you were looking for comedy, you clearly chose the wrong anime for that.
On that note: anilist.co/anime/10495
This is comedy.
You watched Grand Blue. Gave it an 8.5
Is Yuru Yuri and Grand Blue the same thing? Nope. But I’d say Yuru Yuri is as funny or better than Grand Blue in that aspect.
But then again, that could just be bias.
@Rythym
I think ur a bit too precious with ur favorites list and that insincerity bugs me
Dropping Haibane Renmei is honestly confusing
Puparia at 4 feels like ur trying to prove a point
[Removed]
i do agree that death note before that point was very good, but i still kept it at a 10 is because it provided me with a 10/10 experience nonetheless, even if it is less than the first half.
yeah fate to me was a lot of dialogue and characters that i never really liked. im not a fan of action either so those scenes put me to sleep. i actually dropped UBW and heavens feel i believe for the same reasons.
I felt completely bored through a lot of paprika and i rate off enjoyment so i guess it just means i only enjoyed about 20% of it.
@emubc
Lycoris Recoil
i disagree with about every word of "Lycoris Recoil also had a fairly complex and morally ambiguous thematic foundation that it was able to expand upon," although I do think the rest of your criticism was well-put. basically i think this show sucks even more than you think. the politics & viewpoint the show took on DA's work made me embarrassed every time i saw it.
Owarimonogatari Ge
i loved this ending so much. my favorite gatari part just ahead of bake. I thought all its arcs worked extremely well together, and the reveals hit me super hard like ougi's identity, which i suspected earlier and my gatari fan friend kept "no commenting" me about. and also after koyomi confronts ougi and says something about meme and realizing memes abt to show up again basically i cried a lot.
Kimetsu no Yaiba Yuukakuhen
"Uzui vs Gyutaro is the second best [anime] fight of all time." Hell fucking no. Even assuming you meant exclusively animation quality. And reducing a fight to just "how flashy is its animation" (even if "flashy" is thematically appropriate to a character) feels insanely wrong and twisted to me. like my favorite one piece fight is luffy vs usopp even though it isnt nearly as flashy as marineford, wci, or wano fights. Uzui & Gyutaro isnt even my favorite demon slayer fight (that would be Tanjiro vs Rui) and it's probably around #50-100 of my favorite fights in all of animanga. for visuals it's probably borderline top 10. my favorite visually is probably koyomi vs kiss shot.
overall i agree with a ton of your takes. and im sad you did not enjoy mob psycho 100.
[Removed]
I agree that those sections of Lycoris had potential, I just think comments like "the show didn't bother developing even a millimeter of what i just mentioned" would seem to merit a lower score than 7.5 haha.
I get what you mean with owari.
I didn't think about it, but me saying "uzui vs gyutaro is one of the 10 most visually interesting fights i've seen in anime" is kind of giving credit where credit is due. considering i found it a below average anime.
[Removed]
but there were like 5 minutes max of hf1 that were different from ubw.
...?? I"m actually hella curious on why/how exactly you think this...
honestly i barely remember the movie but in my mind it was 90% slice of life at their high school and then in the last 5 minutes they introduced servants and the whole grail war. the focus was a little different with seeing more of shinji and sakuras personalities. and the archery club. i have no interest in revisiting that but i do want to finish hf sometime
@Thundzr
Attack on Titan Final Season
2 is kinda low for that season
Spirited Away
this one is also too good for 3
with the rest of the ratings I + - agree
@redqpple
Angels Egg
One of the best animes of all time. It deserves at least a 9.
Kikis Delivery Service
This is definitely not Studio Ghibli's best work.
5 Centimeters per Second
This is Shinkai's best work. Hence, it should be rated above his other works.
PS: Those opinions are obviously subjective and I respect your scores.
@redqpple
Kaguyasama Love is War Ultra Romantic
being rated lower than the previous seasons
And 5 feels too low for
JUJUTSU KAISEN
and
Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc
These opinions are purely subjective and I respect your scores.
@Jazzmello7
Honestly not much that I consider a 'hot take'
only thing that really stood out to me was the fact you think that S4 of AOT was better animated than S1...
Fair enough. Maybe I need to rewatch the series as a whole and re-evaluate the scores
I do love Season 4 Part 1 for the stakes and tone that it creates
Season 1 is like a roller coaster but I don’t think that it can be comparable to the writing of season 4
The fights are cool but I do prefer an engaging plot from time to time.
Thanks on the feedback btw!!
Sonny boy being a 4 is disrespectful. They took risk’s and separated itself from the norm. Also had spectacular animation.
MHA being the same score as love is war is crazy.
Weathering with you and akira a 5 ???
Aot final season is a laugh tho I respect it. Still tho a 4 is harsh. @11MoNnY
Sonny Boy was a bit too abstract for my liking. Appreciate it for trying something new, but honestly just got tiring to watch by the end; Didn't really get much out of it...
I'd say the action of 'MHA' & comedy of 'Love is War' were about the same for me enjoyment wise. Not all that invested in either, but definitely didn't feel like I wasted my time. Pretty good shows overall.
Weathering with You felt kinda boring honestly, wasn't really sold on the character relationships to be frank. Same with Akira; didn't help that my expectations going in were extremely high given it's legacy...
The AOT score is just me venting my frustration about the manga ending... Although I will say that S4 is most definitely the worst season out of the bunch...
@Stayhome
Ughhhh... I don't care if they have genuinely good stories, Monogatari and Mushoku Tensei have really... what's the word I'm looking for... crap(?) shtuff, right...?
Also I know barely anything about this (and I don't care to) but... just off the name why that rating--
kisssis
Also saying Re:Zero's the same level of quality as K-On I--
Yeah, they're both good but...
Mushoku Tensei is peak wdym
sigh I have not and will never watch it.
It's one of the most extreme ecchi anime in existence with an absurdly perverted protagonist, right? Nothing else matters, that's enough for me to hate it so much I'll never watch it no matter what.
Similar thing goes for Monogatari. I know both are supposedly genuinely good stories, but the ecchi crap is too much.
Idk where you get your info from but it’s far from the most extreme ecchi anime…yeah the protag can be perverted sometimes but your exaggerating it tenfold.
It doesn't make a difference. It's still very extreme, right? And that makes it too much.
No. It’s not extreme at all, I literally just said that. In fact, mushoku ISNT ecchi. You’re blowing things way out of proportions. You will literally find more questionable scenes in the likes of sword art online. As the other guy said, you’re being very pretentious.
how can you judge something without watching it, that's kinda pretentious
You mean, it's not fair to say something is far from something I'd ever like to watch, because I'm relying on just stuff I've heard about it, than what I've actually seen by actually watching it?
sigh Ah, I get where the issue is. I said "hate." I was kinda tired and didn't think of putting it in a way more similar to "I know this is something I couldn't ever like based on everything I've heard," which was what I meant.
Even now, I'm still kinda tired, especially 'cause no-one's understood my point yet and it's really upsetting.
You mean, it's not fair to say something is far from something I'd ever like to watch, because I'm relying on just stuff I've heard about it, than what I've actually seen by actually watching it?
Yes, that invalidates your opinion almost immediately
@Stayhome I'm gonna be completely honest with you chief, you really don't have anything I disagree with on your list. So I have to try extremely hard to even have a hot take
Dragon Ball Super: Broly being rated as low as it was. Imo it's just the best Dragon Ball movie and a really good one at that.
That's basically it, I disagree with the Kill la Kill rating but that show isn't for everyone so you probably just didn't like it that much.
Other than I basically agree with most ratings you have or haven't seen certain other shows to have an opinion on.
If been wanting to rewatch Kill la kill for awhile now. It was one of my first anime and back in the day when I picked up a show I had to finish it before starting a new one ( just my personal little rule I had ) which effected my experience a lot, I actually skipped through a lot and watched the last episode with no real knowledge of the show lmao. It’s honestly a show I would really like, I’ll pick it up again one day.
For the DBZ movie, I watched it with a friend, it was super fun, but since I haven’t seen DBZ I saw it just as action, animation and that’s it.
@MrAscension
Hataraku Maousama
I felt the only thing that saved this was the mc and the action scenes, rest of the characters were annoying imo
Kimi no Na wa
Too much stuff added in short time and the romance didn't convinced me
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo
Perverted male character jokes... Don't have to say much, I can't stand this even with the "parody" argument
@Rinko
Basically nothing I have a personal grudge against, but the Re:Zero ratings being so close to bnha ratings I don't understand much lol.
I like Devil is a Part-TImer mainly because it was one of my first animes and I genuinely think the dub is hilarious.
I can't really say too much about Your Name, I disagree but understand why you think it's romance is rushed and not that believable.
Konosuba isn't just the MC making perverted jokes and that's it, I won't lie and say it doesn't make a shit ton of those jokes, but it's more about the situations the characters get themselves involved in which coupled with there dynamics makes it funny at least to me and a very enjoyable watch.
Re:Zero ratings being so close to bnha ratings I don't understand much lol.
Ehhh well... most of my MHA ratings are likely inaccurate 'cause I came up with them either well after I finished them or before I started to put reasonable amounts of thought into my ratings...~
Also I have a thing where I think one half of a season is really good and the other half is mediocre...~ (I think it's seasons 2, 4, 5 and 6 have a great first half, s3 a great second half)
As for Re:Zero... ehhh something about it just... I dunno. It's probably the one show I've watched recently I dunno what exactly I liked and didn't like.
I mean... I don't think I understood some things properly...? And for s1, I knew basically everything that happened before I even started...~ Rem gave five points that I think made up for that, though, but shrug
In short... I dunno why those shows have those exact ratings~!
Also I have a thing where I think one half of a season is really good and the other half is mediocre...~ (I think it's seasons 2, 4, 5 and 6 have a great first half, s3 a great second half)
I have watched few long shows that have both a satisfying start and latter half, so I understand that. A lot of them the first half is purely introduction(not in a interesting way), and if it isn't, the latter half loses some steam and that's it
@Archea
You have things ranked using faces which should be bad enough but I can't find any bad takes that way
@ToxicTornadoes all your really high rated anime are good
My Hero Academia Two Heroes 8.6 is too high
SPY x FAMILY 7.4 is too low
One Piece not deserving a favorite in my opinion
@cbcamo
SPY x FAMILY Cour 2 u gave it a 9.5 after 1 single ep
My Hero Academia dropping mha and saying the gayships is the only thing going for it
Domestic Girlfriend an 8.5 is too high
Other people gave Spy Family 2 a 85% after 1 epsiode. That 1 episode was 9.5 quality.
I stand behind saying MHA is mid at best. Though I don't want to defend the ships rn.
The last one is definitely questionable
i haven't watched it so i can't disagree ik how loved the show i just wouldn't rate after 1 ep thats all!
i would never defend the ships either its weird and the community is def a bunch of pedos but saying the ships is the only thing we got going is hurtful
its ok i loved the show just hated the ending
@Xmaster
Princess Mononoke
This is like one of the best Ghibli movies and you gave it a 2.
Hunter x Hunter 2011
I think this is a terrible anime adaptation that ruins the source material in a number of ways and it shouldn't get anywhere near the amount of love that it does.
Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba
This show has one of the worst stories I've ever seen and you gave every season above a 9.5.
i can 100% agree how me giving princess mononoke is a trash take since most love it A LOT i just personally found it horribly boring i can respect any1 who loves it
idek what to say about hxh since u literally gave the manga a 6/10 overall it just sounds like u think hxh as a whole is either mid or ass 😭
ye i can see how u don't like demon slayers story
Fair enough.
For me, the HxH manga is a 7 if this current arc actually starts being good, which isn’t impossible considering how it isn’t gonna hiatus forever. And it could easily be an 8 if the rest of the series slaps and toes everything together nicely. That’s a 6 out of frustration due to the wasted potential the series had. But we’ll see where it goes with it continuing soon. But the 2011 anime is indeed ass.
Animation is 10/10, story is 0/10, show is a 5/10. That’s my take at least
SteinsGate
You gave Steins;Gate a six and then went on to watch 0 anyways
Nearly all of your 10's and 9's come straight out of the 'I watch old anime so my taste is better than yours' book.
Shoujo Kakumei Utena
And yet you have Utena at a 6?
Well Stein's; Gate was like my first anime so I watched everything to do with the series because I thought you had to. Also the 6 came after I felt it didn't age too well after a few rewatches, I gave it like an 8 after I first watched it.
Yeah basically.
Utena is really good for what it is. I like the ambition of the series and appreciate what it goes for. I just don't like Shojo magical girl stuff to begin with so it just wasn't really my thing. However I do love Utena as a character, she's one of my favorite protagonists of all time.
@SEENABEAN
Nausica of the Valley of the Wind
This movie is not flawless... Could it be possible that your nostalgia pushed the score a bit?
Cowboy Bebop The Movie Knockin on Heavens Door
This is a Spike solo show, all other crew members look incompetent and the new character is redundant. Every time the villain disappears like a ghost is irritating, since it does not make sense. Additionally, the fanservice for the horny male audience is upsetting.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part III Rebellion
I have to admit that I am also not a huge fan of the prequel. However, this film has an outstanding character study, fascinating visuals and one of the best bittersweet endings I have ever seen in the medium. Should be at least a 7.
PS: The above statements are my subjective opinion. Therefore, u must not feel offended. I respect your scores.
PPS: I was too slow posting my msg. I hope u do not mind answering two people.
It's not flawless, it's just a 10.
I love the Bebop movie! It's like a mini tale that quickly covers all the themes of the show. And much like in the show, the character writing is very subtle. All the characters respond to the plot events in a very "in character" way, and their decision making reflects their specific ideologies very well. But Spike does get most of the attention. I think it's the best spinoff movie of all time. And also, what fanservice?
I don't like the show too much, and I remember the movie being about as good as the show when I first watched it. However, I never watched it a second time after I rewatched the show so I just changed the score to what I had for the show.
P.S. Responding to two people is the worst thing of all time
P.P.S. jk
And also, what fanservice?
The almost rape scene. I think it was redundant to show sexual tension at this moment in the film.
Oh, okay I know what you’re talking about now. That scene made Vincent look like a huge creep and Faye uses her own sexuality to her advantage a lot of the time so it seemed like he was destroying all potential advantages she had in that scene. Since I felt that it had a clear purpose, I can forgive it a little.
@HanazonoLand
SSSSGRIDMAN
I can't believe you'd only rate this 2 stars I thought it was awesome but I guess you just may not be a huge fan of mecha/tokusatsu stuff in general.
Initial D 1st Stage
Also you watched the second season before watching the first and haven't finished it yet? That seems really weird to me lmao.
I can't think of a third thing but personally any of those shows that have phrases in the title like "I killed 300 slimes to max out my defense" or whatever always just feel off to me and I'm surprised at just how many you have on your list.
@Wyroquax
Instead of picking 3 different things I'm just say, I think it's kinda weird that even though you say you don't have time to watch whole shows and just prefer films you'd still go and watch films that are clearly supposed to be a conclusion/part of a show like Ideon or Cowboy Bebop. Don't you feel like missing vital story/character beats beforehand might negatively affect how you feel about the movie?
I avoid movies marked as sequel to tv-series or long OVA/ONA. I only watch them if my friends who watched the series and the movie in question say that they also work as a standalone film. Regarding Ideon, I watched the bad recap movie to get a feeling for the show. After reading a plot summary, it was sufficient to experience the intended ending without being lost. While watching Cowboy Bebop, I was not confused either.
Don't you feel like missing vital story/character beats beforehand might negatively affect how you feel about the movie?
It is impossible to answer this question with certainty. However, I am confident that I would not rate any of those films higher even if I watched the series. Furthermore, I think it is interesting to see how someone rates a sequel movie as standalone work.
To be honest, seeing that your grand average is 8/9 then I don't know whether to consider them worse or better based on mine (since mine seems to be much more critical but also accommodating to other lists).
But seeing it from your point of view, I prefer rather to ask you and judge you just a little.
Why 8.5/10? :3
8/10 :3?
7.5/10 :3?
There are few anime that we have seen together, so it was difficult for me and I had to choose anything.
But hey, I'll wait for my next cancellation :3
I'm ready to debate... except for Shingeki, I actually saw that one a long time ago and I don't remember much of it XD
My average is so high because of my relatively small amount of shows watched and how I prefer to watch shows I already think I'll like but I get what you mean lol.
For Kill la Kill:
I've got a soft spot for dumb insane over the top action stuff thanks to playing games like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta years ago so as you can imagine Kill la Kill fit into that niche perfectly. It was also the first anime I watched that made me fully click with the medium and got me interested in watching more so it's kinda special to me in that regard. Maybe if I had started on something else and watched it later on I may not have given it that score but still with the fun characters and awesome action scenes I'd probably still like it quite a bit.
Spy x Family:
It was a cute and adorable show and I loved the dynamic between Loid, Anya, and Yor, I just felt like it kinda tapered off in the last few episodes (ending a season on what feels like filler isn't really a good feeling) and the fact I watched Kaguya afterwards and found myself liking the cast of Kaguya a bit more than SxF is what constituted the score. I'm not entirely satisfied giving it a 8 cus I did really like it but the shows in the 8.5 section were ones I can say I liked more than SxF so an 8 is probably what it'll stay at until I go back and give everything unique scores again.
FLCL:
FLCL's weird to me. I got it was going for, an intentionally goofy and insane show about the struggles of growing up and adolescence but something about it just didn't resonate with me the way it should've. Even I'm not really happy about how I felt about cus I feel like I should've liked it more than I did, but that's why I'm planning on rewatching it at some point to see if my feelings on it change or not.
Stardust Crusaders Without Dio = 7.8 / Stardust Crusaders With Dio = 7.7
I don't think it's much difference, it's more, it's like saying 99% discount or something. Honestly, Jotaro got a power up out of nowhere against his fight with Dio.
I really liked the fight, it's interesting but Jotaro has Plot Armor. If I thought it was the best in the world... I would give it a 9, not a 7.7 (it doesn't even reach a score of 8 like Shingeki or Evangelion with its 9.5)
It doesn't really have much relevance, but hey, it's an interesting opinion.
10 = Magnum Opus/Masterpiece
9 = High Level
8 = Pretty Good
7.7/7.8 = It's close to 8 and that means to me that the series is really showing something cool.
7.5 = Better than average (although I can use it for a more "acceptable" average), has details or some things better than
mediocre.
7 = Average, neither very bad nor good and is close to mediocre, but you can see it and enjoy it.
If I give it a 6/10, it means that it is the worst in the world.
The number 7 in score is average, it is like the minimum grade to pass the year without repeating. The 7.5 is a bit better but it's not too much either.
If a work is ONLY for ecchi and stupidity and the cover itself tells you so, then I'll give it a score based on that.
If the story is about romanticized thugs, then I'll criticize it for that and not because it lacks dragons or dance choreography.
Although you're right, it would be a... slow process. Because I don't remember every detail and that would make the hierarchy more screwed up, because Evangelion would be like a holy grail with his 9.5 (his movie has 10/10) and Cowboy Bebop as an unbeatable being with 10/10.
I'll take it into consideration, thanks.
I just do it to troll or bore people, it's not relevant to my life.
The truth is, I don't care about that part and if I disgust you, I don't judge you.
I only apologize for the long text, take care of yourself :3!
