The thread "Why isn’t the next batch on here yet" and its comments have been merged into this thread.
You can view the merged thread's body below:
Part 6 batch 3 was announced almost a week ago and I know anilist is fast when it comes to updating anime but it’s still not on here yet. MAL has it up so why not here
Because it’s release would fall within the succeeding season of the part 2 batch, and technically speaking (per our guidelines) it states that entries should only be split if there is a gap in seasons…
So bit of a debate whether to combine with the part 2 entry or make it a separate entry, but I’m not the one to argue with.
technically speaking, it should have a separate entry given theres a 3 months gap plus it's publicized everywhere and from the streaming site as "stone ocean part 3" if you think about merging them, then you should merge the whole thing (the 3 parts In a single entry since they're literally the same season)
Anime such as Nanbaka have had a split entry even though there wasn't even a break between releases so I don't see why there wouldn't be a separate entry for stone ocean part 3 since it's advertised separately
I know you said you're not the one to argue with I'm just adding my view in hopes of getting the entry out asap lol
The part 2 entry has been updated to included the 3rd cour of episodes.
Episode 25 is airing 13 weeks after episode 13 started airing, the exact amount of time that would normally occur in a continually airing release. Per Japanese sources, they do not differentiate a new name for this like they had done for Part 1 versus part 2. The distinction appears to be made purely on the English and other foreign language sides.
For other similar entries:
No name distinction was made and it had 11 weeks between batches, thus its combined.
BASTARD Ankoku no Hakaishin ONA
No name distinction was made and it had 16 weeks between batches, thus its combined.
GREAT PRETENDER
A name distinction was made and it had 13 weeks between batches, thus it was split.
Kengan Ashura
Kengan Ashura Part 2
A name distinction was made and it aired continuously, thus it was split
Aikatsu
Aikatsu 2
Aikatsu 3
Aikatsu 4
stone ocean never had a name distinction.
look at the trailer for the second batch, it doesn't say part 2 anywhere
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNKtj0ZkDZI&ab_channel=NetflixAnime
the same goes for the key visual
https://static.jojowiki.com/images/5/5a/latest/20220326190726/Stone_Ocean_Anime_Key_Visual_Cour_2_JPN.png
and the announcement tweet

if you're gonna split them up at least be consistent, otherwise, just keep them all together
also any counter arguments also deflects onto TSKR
Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe
if they're all batched together despite them being released literal years apart
https://jojowiki.com/Thus_Spoke_Kishibe_Rohan_(OVA)#Episodes
then stone ocean should apply the same way. make up your minds.
There were 9 months between part 1 and 2. Again we are being consistent
Explain
Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe
please
do you have an example of another ONA release with a sizeable gap between and no name distinction? otherwise i feel like the state of great pretender is enough evidence to combine all three parts
The great pretender, if it had a weekly schedule, only had a 2 week break between episodes. Unlike stone ocean part 1 and 2 which had roughly 26 weeks
is there another example? what are the guidelines for something like this?
Read the original post, it gave multiple examples for precedence to showcase different cases.
there's no ONA release with a sizeable gap between and no name distinction example. i just want something to reinforce parts 1 and 2 being seperated.
So isn't there any way to put Part 6 as a single season of 38 episodes like the previous ones? Netflix episodes count are very different compared to Anilist (episode 13 being episode 1, episode 25 being episode 13...), and this may cause confusion to new watchers at the time of updating it, specially once the season is finished
The same numbering scheme happens with MHA, it happend with Sailor moon, it has happened with countless titles before this. This isn't new and this is how we always list these kinds of things
I could say the same about other animes
Spy x Family:
SPY x FAMILY
SPY x FAMILY Cour 2
or the Final Season of AoT:
Attack on Titan Final Season
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3
That are split in parts/cours despite being the same season, if there is any way to put these entries together (by updating the episode count or something) it would be very nice :)
Even the official JoJo account is calling that a 3rd season of Stone Ocean, but yeah... just merge 2nd and 3rd cour together. Zero sense, AL rules are so hilarious...

You'll notice that this is a very recent tweet and also the first time the JP side has referred to it as such. It does however bear mentioning that the tweet conflicts with itself, the visual refers to it as a 3rd season, the text doesn't. The text also refers to it as an early release which would further validate us combining it since the tv release is airing it continuously for the 2nd and 3rd cours but would justify changing the air dates to reflect such.

just because it's a recent tweet, doesn't mean it's any less valid lol

the visual was made by a prop designer at david production so you'd think they'd internally call it "3rd season" or some abbreviation as well, no?
The text also refers to it as an early release
they've referred to the netflix releases as "pre-delivery" since the very first batch
which would further validate us combining it since the tv release is airing it continuously for the 2nd and 3rd cours but would justify changing the air dates to reflect such.
again, since stone ocean is categorized as an ONA on anilist, taking TV airing into consideration makes no sense. either keep the entire part as a whole TV entry, or split it into multiple seasons as ONAs
and even if you'd take the airing dates into consideration, it's the exact same situation as demon slayer, since there's one week between both seasons, yet mugen train arc and entertainment district are seperate entries.
Native title:
ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 ストーンオーシャン 2クール (2nd cour)
Description:
The second and third cour of JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Stone Ocean.
Nice one!
I understand that since the second and third cour are broadcasted consecutively on TV, you absolutely want to follow the same pattern, but it still doesn't make much sense.
If you ABSOLUTELY want to base yourself on the TV broadcast pattern, then the most logical thing is to make a single entry.
Or else you just follow Netflix which would be the most suitable thing for everyone.
Sorry if I was wrong about the reason.
I hope we can find some kind of understanding like the Kimetsu case.
What happened with Demon Slayer?

Why is Jojo Part 6 split in two seasons? It doesn't make any sense, as people will be confused at the time they update their episode count (f.e. if you see from Netflix episode 15, you'll update it as episode 3 of part 2, or episode 32 as episode 20 of part 2). Shouldn't be all 38 episodes in one season like the previous parts?
