I'll start, the immense hype of Attack on titan, I was kind of forced to watch it at that point and with very high expectations , enjoyed some moments but ultimately the ending made me despise it (no spoiler thread) .
a few come to mind for me personally:
Fumetsu no Anata e
Wonder Egg Priority
these ones i don't "despise" but
what made you hate wonder egg? i heard it was rushed , i got to ep 2 but put it on hold
the show had a good concept but failed to play to it's strengths and instead tried to do something other shows like the monogatari series or even bunny girl senpai have already done better. even though it was flawed it could've been a solid 7 or 8/10 but the show really wen't downhill after episode 7 because of production issues. also some parts of the show are pretty problematic like how it uses one of it's characters cutting as purely a plot device in one episode and implying (or well literally having her say it) that self-harming is a good coping mechanism because at least you're not killing yourself(???), which is obviously a terrible thing to tell the target demographic of the show (primarily teenage girls). it just feels like the show wanted to talk about serious topics but in the end it doesn't really have much to say about those issues besides the fact that they are something that exists.
so yeah wonder egg priority is a show that had potential to be something special but wasted it by adding a shitty unnecessary plot twist that undermined the whole story and just generally wasted the opportunity to talk about actual important issue by just acknowledging their exist and then instantly moving on to the next one.
what made you hate tye's ending?
it's not that i hated the ending specifically but rather the plot progression past the first arc. the entire show is basically Fushi meets someone --> they die --> Fushi is sad about it. the first arc with the wolf and Gugu's arc were by far the best in the szn, because the former sets the stage and the screentime of the latter allows the viewer to become more intimate with a character for once
the remaining deaths trivialize what the wolf arc was meant to construct, and while i saw glimpses of hope a la Gugu, unfortunately i didn't get any enjoyment beyond that
The Promised Neverland Season 2
After S1 and with the Goldy Park arc apparently coming soon, I was hyped about this. Let me down on all fronts.
Baccano
Not as bad of an experience, but after having this talked up heavily, I found the time shifts frustrating to follow, disrupted a lot of the narrative flow.
Darker than Black Gemini of the Meteor
A disappointing sequel season to a solid first season,
Magia Record Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story
Really disappointing follow up to the original series.
Log Horizon Destruction of the Round Table
The series has continued to degrade since season one, but the drop off has never been more apparent.
BABYLON
Probably the worst offender on this list. The series had a lot of good ideas initially, but it utterly wasted them as they became incredibly convoluted and got explained with pure BS.
JoJos Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders
*Specifically Part 3, not the rest of the series
I dropped JoJo for months because of Stardust Crusaders. Thankfully, Part 4 later became my favorite one (yes, even over 7), but the fact remains that I despised every moment of Part 3 except the Dio fight at the end. I did not enjoy watching the same plot rehashed every single episode but with different stands.
Fatestay night Unlimited Blade Works
There was almost nothing I enjoyed about this.
TSUKIMICHI Moonlit Fantasy
The first episode is very funny and the character designs are great. Tomoe and Makoto are also fairly endearing characters at first. However, as the series goes on, it becomes apparent that it genuinely has nothing going for it aside from a few fun things that can't carry a show filled with nothing of note. The show tries so hard to be Konosuba, but it just ISN'T. It's a power fantasy that is ever so slightly less generic than most of them, which still isn't good. Around the mid section of the series, the show started devolving into a series of increasingly uninteresting side quests, and the final fight was laughably bland due to how overpowered Makoto was by the end. I'm not even sure if I despise this show since it's such a strong word, but I'd definitely give it no more than a 3/10.
I'll try give some counter points for why people like this from what I remember.
It was interesting to see how characters would adapt to a situation they've never handled before.
The magical girl coming from a children's show with preconceptions that "bad" people can be convinced with only words. Then eventually realizes that people, in reality, aren't always one note like that. And all she was doing was resorting to violence, which is the complete opposite of what her character is supposed to be
The guy with the gun realizes that no matter what he does, his situation will never change because that's just how he was made - to suffer
I think people liked the side characters more tbh
I legitimately have no recollection of those characters, mega blanking rn. I guess if you're able to ignore the main cast then that's fine, although I even liked 2/3rds of it. I think it's moreso the show's structure and overall lack of engaging content that did it for me more so than lack of investment in the characters
oh shit I was thinking of a completely different anime
ReCREATORS
Well in that case I can agree with what you said about moonlit fantasy, even though I enjoyed it alot
hyped when this released cause the romance and characters seemed good, then realised how incredibly boring this anime was. even for me as a primarily rom-com anime fan.
Aharensan wa Hakarenai
first anime I outright despised, watch this not long after I got into anime, not long after watching shinkai films. animation was good, but the story was one of the most boring things I have ever had the displeasure of watching.
Flavors of Youth
I do think that aharen-san is much more comedy than it is romance. If you don't like its situational absurd comedy, then it's not for you anyway. The romance in it is such a secondary thing honestly
thats the thing, i normally do love absurd, meta, and satire comedy like this. nichijou and daily life of highschool boys (two comedy series of comedy skits with absurd comedy) are two of my favourite shows period. aharen-san was just really boring in the comedy perspective along with the romantic side being an afterthought
I definitely understand why you would find it boring when expecting comedy or romcom to be the center, but it's really mostly a sol. These types of everyday simple sol are really popular because they're meant to be calming, so usually the comedy and romance are understated as a result. Other examples would be Komi can't communicate, tamako's love story, Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru, etc. Just my take on this but I've seen this type of response a lot to these anime and a few others so I've thought a lot about it haha.
Prior to airing, people who read the source material were hyping it up, swearing it would be AOTS if not AOTY. This is how I learned a good manga doesn't necessarily equal a good anime.
Coppelion
dont despise this really but
Your lie in April
i watched this not long after finishing assassination classroom hoping to watch another anime that would make me cry, put my expectations way too high for this so i think that affected my enjoyment a lot
Violet Evergarden the Movie
Loved Violet Evergarden and its first movie, so I was super hyped for this and I ended up being so disappointed by it.
Lycoris Recoil
I didn't have too many expectations for this but everyone I knew who watched it seemed to like it so I confident it'd be pretty good and instead I got an okay first half and then a disappointing second half. I don't despise it but I did end up not liking it anywhere near as much as I was hoping I would.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part III Rebellion
I like to pretend madoka magica ended after the first season and that this movie is just a figment of my imagination.
BABYLON
The utter disappointment of this series is immeasurable.
i don't know why ppl dislike AOT just cus of it's ending
yeah it's ending is kinda sad and it was nearly impossible for stopping rumbling but they did it (like killing eren in middle of that much titans was somehow not possible)
also it's just boring to always expect a happy ending
and yeah at the end it's just our personal tastes..i really like aot and it made me start watching rest of the anime series
SAO before SAO existed but holy shit was it boring
hackSIGN
phenomenal Shaft art and animation and an interesting concept completely ruined by the creep mc who wants to fuck his sisters (including the entire series here)
Bakemonogatari
a reboot/sequel to one of my favorite series of all time that completely undermined and destroyed the original ending
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu
fucking garbage only made slightly better by Yuno's fantastic seiyuu
Mirai Nikki
the most frustrating show i've ever watched
Shin Seiki Evangelion
a useless sequel made a decade after the original three seasons that's just all around bad
Jigoku Shoujo Yoi no Togi
the worst show i've ever watched
Vampire Knight
Really a disappointment after the first season
Yakusoku no Neverland 2
DARLING in the FRANXX
evangelion but worse in every way possible

The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie
A garbage end to one of my favourite romance series
