I think it was around episode 180 give or take 50 episodes [it was years ago when I watched bleach, way before I joined Anilist] that I got bored and dropped bleach. Did bleach ever hit a point where it started to get interesting again?
Edit: Was season 2 any good?
S2 tells how the plot holes is connected. Seems like everything has been planned by the author
I highly doubt that everything was planned by Kubo from the beginning, however he and his team did a good job of filling those narrative holes.
@camimaou I agree with what you are saying especially with this recent episode. I feel like maybe the situation with Zangetsu and Ichigo's true Zanpaktou wasn't planned and at the same time it was, but at a later time. Either way I think it was a nice save.
I mean the last part has a average score of 90% and is like 5th highest rated on the site, the production quality of it currently is extremely good and a lot better than what it was 10 years ago, the older parts of series I also really enjoyed however it has a lot of filler which isn't so good. The episodes airing in the last 2/3 months are 10x better than the old and have great plot and overall execution.
The score says nothing, because 99% of people watching this are fans and love bleach.

I mean, we can throw any argument and there's a good counter-argument for it. TYBW is regarded as a rushed arc and it's something Kubo himself agrees with, those fans that felt the same way wouldn't rate it high would they? Also entry barrier meaning that only fans who stick around are faithful and giving good ratings is a good argument, but shows like Boruto exist with just under 100 episode left before having as many as Bleach and a rating in the 50s on here.
It's hard to disagree that this "rebirth" of the anime is loads better than its predecessor, and it deserves the rating it's getting whether it's by avid fans and/or not.

to be fair theyre talking about the 'gintama effect' which is specific to sequels of very long running anime. boruto does not have any sequels. the cause of this is that people who drop the series won't watch the sequels to long running ones, so the low scores they might have given will never be given. TYBW is a separate database entry from Bleach, so it is affected by the gintama effect.
this post does not represent disagreement with any of your other points
Manga reader here, The Hueco Mundo and Fake Karakura town arc are great , fullbringer arc is good. [From when I was anime only] Thousand year blood war little messy coulda been done better but overall a good watch. Plus epic little surprise.
huh, weirdly, I feel the opposite. I found this season more enjoyable then the previous series and not just because of the better production. This season patched up a couple of hanging plot threads and improved a lot upon the world building. The ark is just beginning of course, so I don't know how it will round out (anime only here), but there are a few story details in the arrancar and fullbringer arcs that left me somewhat disappointed.
A lot of the dumb stuff has yet to happen but the thousand year blood war arc throws a lot of concepts that just make things not make sense that just go unexplained. I can only really give one example that wouldn't be manga spoilers.
The squad zero guy who is said to have made zanpaktos. If he made zanpaktos how did he or other soul reapers before him do anything considering zanpaktos are their only natural ability. And something like that could have been made a lot less messy if it was simply framed as the swords he made basically being training wheels for the Zanpakto as opposed to being the only way for them to manifest.
There's a lot more bullshit things in the thousand year blood war arc. That I can't go into too much detail due to spoilers
I think the only thing I can really say is that the Vizards who are reinstated in their soul society positions are done real dirty. Only reason I can think of is if they were done in any way that made sense they would've written themselves into a corner because the Vizards would've just destroyed the Sternritter.
the arrancar and full bringer arc are literally just meant as setups for the following arc. I don't think its fair to be too hard on them. Its like complaining about the Karakura town arc at the start of the series when it obviously was a setup for the soul society arc.
Bleach is pretty simple at least in its mainline arcs. It has a setup arc followed by a serious arc.
Sure this arc gives good backstory and whatever. but it was something setup from multiple arcs ago. And everything original to this arc typically turns out being a mess. You'll see what I mean in part 2 more or less I think
Why do people always do this on these threads of anime--sequels especially...its like they want to make known to everyone that they don't like something.
If you didn't like the previous seasons, you're not going to like the most recent one, nor the upcoming ones. Surprised this has to be said.
I actually really liked bleach, it just got boring at some point. I didn't know this was the second part of season 2 until after I made the thread, which is why I added the edit. I am actually genuinely interested in watching, just wanted to make sure it got good again like the first 150 [give or take a few] episodes of bleach.
Edit: I mentioned this in the OP, but I did watch about 180 episodes of the first season [My profile doesn't show that because it was before I started tracking my anime on anilist], someone doesn't waste that many hours of their time watching something they don't like.
It was so good. I wasn't a huge fan of the original bleach anime, but friends kept saying the manga was better. I read the manga too, and it's really good.
I am surprised TYBW adaptation is so good. It does the bleach manga so much service it's incredible. The pacing is great, the animation is top notch, there's honestly not a singular thing I disliked about this adaptation (you might).
I would say, catch up to this point by reading the manga and watch the rest from here. It will only get better from here :D
Hope this helps.
