It would be nice to have other languages on the site, many people do not know English and use the site with some difficulty.
UI Translation is on the roadmap: https://anilist.co/forum/thread/3878
The previous version of the site did have a rough Japanese translation as a test - and the new design that came in last summer will make it much easier to do a full translation when the time comes. Will open up translation to users and ideally have as many languages supported as possible.
Stored translation of entry data itself (series descriptions, titles etc.) I'm unsure if will happen - likely not.
It doesn't really make much sense to translate a website with an English-language database into a non-English language.
At best it would be a marginally useful feature popular mostly with weebs who want to set the interface language to Japanese, with the database still only in English.
At worst, extra resources would be needed to maintain vastly inferior non-English databases for the few people who don't speak English but have still somehow found their way here.
The thread "[GLOBAL] - Site Translation in others languages" and its comments have been merged into this thread.
You can view the merged thread's body below:
Has the site planned in the more or medium long term, a global translation of the site (of course starting with the base, the keys to go to the portal, etc ...)?
If so, are you looking for people in specific languages?
Personaly, I love this site and I would like to help him one way or another (exept money, I'm a studient and the period is hard) , since I am French with a spelling, not perfect but which holds the road.
I'm looking many initiative for this site, Android & IOS App or Chrome/Mozilla Extensions, but I think a little step in direction of a lot of community with a very bad level of English, is a bit of a shame, aren't you ?
Thanks in advance for the answers, and I say good watching anime or others activities.
